I don't blame the baby boomers. I blame the "greatest generation" for having them and spoiling them, because they didn't want their children to have it as rough as they had it during The Great Depression. You stopped the Nazis but you raised a generation of self centered, greedy, over consuming bunch of idiots. Thanks.

They certainly are to blame – unlike previous generations that valued family and community, these people engaged in reckless sexual trysts with many partners. These were the ones who proudly dreamed up the "Sexual Revolution" which has made life miserable for every young woman since then because now sex is "the" big issue we now have to deal with. Greg Behrendt had to write a book just to reteach common sense to the rest of us because boomer females messed the whole thing up.

Just watch their big movie: "Looking for Mr. Goodbar" and another one: "10". Serial divorces and remarriages, self-centered materialists who dreamed up the sanitized term "latchkey kids" to describe the first generation of kids (GenX'ers/Gen Y/Millenials) who were pretty much abandoned by their boomer parents who valued their career and "options" over their own kids.

Looking at the names of the previous posters, they are all boomers – no one has names like those anymore. :/

This is unbelievable! Before the recession, marketing was geared at young people who had few bills and a LOT of discretionary income – have you walked through the malls recently? Did anyone notice that they aren't spending either? In a society that has forgotten (or discarded) their parents – BTW NOT the boomers who are juggling parent care AND child care more and more each day – it seems that this is just another way to marginalize the elderly in our society and make them "easier" targets for cuts in social security and (God forbid) health services if universal health care becomes a reality.
Why not look to the fact that the government is spending trillions (in credit) to bail out banks, car companies and who-knows-what-else in the future? Name me just ONE boomer that has THAT kind of debt!

I find it interesting that as Boomers age and start to die, someone comes up with yet another way to label them and market them as a trigger for somebody's hysteria - from Woodstock Generation to Me Generation to Sandwich Generation, to - what - Scapegoat Generation? Safe targets, ya think?

Christine, please see my iReport on Iran at http://www.ireport.com/docs/DOC-280487 – "Classmate of 9/11 hero Todd Beamer writes love poem for Iran, translates to Farsi, Arabic" – you can get in touch if you wish to discuss it, or Google's interesting recent introduction of Farsi machine translation into their translator capability. What many people don't realize is that this may mean you could have a chat conversation in a chat room with someone from iran, facilitated by google chat – it works already in Arabic. The poem I wrote was translated by professional human translators, but I thought the tech angle might be interesting, or possibly an organization like Meedan, which is actively and specifically engaged in leveraging Web 2.0 to cross the language gap between the West and the Middle East (www.meedan.net) – they are partnering w/IBM, and also working in the area of using and refining the capability of machine translation. Unlike google, Meedan has a patent for a unique form of translation, where humans can correct that translation quality. It's all at the intersection of business, social responsibility, Arabic and Farsi.

We all know the reason for the financial crisis. Its called the Federal Reserve act of 1913. Please stop diverting the real blame. The Federal reserve is buying up america at an unprecendeted pace. What will they require this time for more money, seeing how social security is already sinking the ship..

Everybody will be getting older. That's the truth that we can't help of.
Why this country has a huge Deficit? what happened to tax that paid by the people? Bec. they spent to much of the wars. It supposed to invest to the american people. Plus, the outsourcing of the job, supposed to be for the American people. This is gonna be the recipe of the disastrous economy.

It seems like we go out of our way to blame the baby boomers for just about everything! If they are to blame, that just makes our country the most irresponsible one of all! They knew about the baby boom for many years and should have been prepaired!! (NOT IRRESPONSIBLY SPENDING) Besides, what is the excuse that the rest of the world will use this time? China was only allowed to have 2 children! No baby boom there yet they are going under with the rest of the world! Maybe it was just the horrible presidential spending practices taking place in Washington!! When you spend this kind of money for years (that we did not have), anyone could tell you that this would be the scarry financial outcome! If Obama does not stop his spending practices, we will go bankrupt! Guarenteed, it will not be the blame of the baby boomers!! He needs to STOP borrowing and spending money that we just do not have! Besides, I think the baby boomers are AGAIN taking a bad rap! I think if you wish to BLAME anyone, blame the illegal immigrants who is depleting our counrtry out of just about everything, including kidnapping our American children! Maybe you should be looking into this! As it stands, Hillary want to medically insure ALL of the illegal immigrants! And you want to blame the baby boomers?? CNN, you're much tooooo funny today. hahaha Thank you once again for a good laugh!
