Editor's Note: Health care reform was the primary topic for Monday’s American Morning audience. RNC Chairman Michael Steele and the Republicans were accused of “abandoning all logic and common sense in their bipartisan attempt to quash health care reform.” Some believed he lacked credibility by using “scare tactics.”

  • Chris: Michael Steele and the RNC have abandoned all logic and common sense in their bi-partisan attempt to quash health care reform. Their argument for voting against “debating” the health care bill Saturday evening because of a few things they don't agree with insults my intelligence. I'm not an expert in building homes or making laws, but, I understand enough to know it's less expensive and takes less time to remodel a home than it is to tear one down and start over.
  • Charles: Mr. Steele should ashamed of himself. He like many other politicians are siding with special interest groups, the same special interest groups who took us to Iraq, on manipulated intel! The Republican party had a chance to give the American people healthcare but decided, to manipulate the intel on Iraq and take contributions from the defense industry. Now, the healthcare special interest groups have infected the Republican party and Mr. Steele is leading the charge. Fool me once.....
  • Bob: Mr. Steele simply lacks credibility in his comments about Health Care Reform activities & Congress. He refers to activities 'behind closed doors without Republican representation'. What about the Committee of 6? He attacks with negative words about topics and people, always in 'generalities'. How about Mr. Steele identifying a 'few' items in any of the Bills being worked on, and taking a detailed position, pro/con, or suggesting an alternative.? His approach is nothing more than an unqualified 'filibuster', to delay the actions of Congress.
  • Sharon: M. Steele just made a statement re: Health Care that do we want a program dictating what just recently came out about mammograms/pap smears. Those studies were done under the Bush administration. Once again scare tactics are being used. We as Americans are sick of this type of politics (on both sides)...

How do you feel about the Republican approach to health care reform?

Michael Steele and the republicans keep talking about health care will cause your taxes to go up. I work for a company that has 44 employees. Because of one person having a heart attack, BC&BS is going up on everyone 28%. It was 11% last year, and 10% the year before that. Does anyone think taxes would increase this much?

The fact that the Health Care Bill has mental health parity and other provisions that assist drug companies has not been seen in the news. I think this is a sign of the financial power of the drug companies and the psychiatric industry. If this passes the senate, the prescribing of drugs to the public will skyrocket. More and more adults and sadly children will be on mood altering drugs. No one knows the effects of growing up while on anti-depressantes, ritalin,...

But hurry up anyway, I want it for those would need it now.

You old people worked at a time when you worked for one company your whole life and was there provided with health insurance and all kinds of benifits. It does not work that way any more. The youth of today for the most part can not afford insurance and more employers don't provide it and we may have several jobs thru our lives which will not provide insurance. So you old people better start thinking about your kids and grandkids or we may get to our graves before you do!

Health Care first, war second, it should be a no brainer. More people here die of lack of health care than in wars. But we send our young people out to get killed. Wake up and start taking care of our people here right at home.

The Republican platform of today is extremely embarrassing to me because I was a Republican for 30 years. There are no real Republicans anymore...just far-right extremists. They did zero to pursue a health care improvement during Bush' 8 years. Now all they will do is say no-no-no. They have ZERO insight about what people are going through, are completely out of touch, and do not care about anything except insurance lobbyists. They appear so afraid of any support to Obama because theyt realize that he actually brings leadership and intelligence.....what we did not see with Bush & Cheney.

Recent news points to the Catholic Church's efforts to influence Patrick Kennedy's stand on abortion. Isn't this an indirect effort to influence legislation (i.e. health care reform)? And, if so, isn't this a form of lobbying? Should the Catholic Church continue to enjoy tax exemption status?

What happened to the "most trusted name in the news". Scientists at Florida State University proved that American made drywall is also defective but you did not mention that fact.

On November 23, 2009 CBS News reported that they had done a drywall study to compare American and Chinese drywall. Random samples of new American-made drywall in six U.S. cities, new Chinese-made drywall from China, and samples of drywall from five damaged U.S. homes were collected and sent to the University of Florida to be tested by a team of researchers led by professor Tim Townsend, a scientist and leading expert on the effects of drywall on the environment. The report results stated:

"As expected, the contaminated Chinese samples gave off high levels of sulfur gases. But all but one of the U.S. samples emitted sulfur gases, as well – not at levels as high as the defective Chinese product, but unexpected. Perhaps more surprising, "There were some American products that we tested that had higher emission than some of the new Chinese products that we tested."

Beside everyone should already know that if mositure gets in the then the sulfur gas gets out.

It has come to my attention that you are a sponsor of the Glen Beck Show on the Fox News network. I cannot understand how the most trusted name in news would even think about sponsoring a racist like Glen Beck. I will now start boycotting you network and ask all my friends and neighbors to do the same. Have a nice day.

This lack of comments says too much. Kill this plan or we will all be sorry no matter what our political view.

ALL LIVING BEINGS REQUIRE HEALTHCARE TO LIVE AND SURVIVE. Preventive medicine is the best method. Were the corporations tasked with the business of feeding everyone not poisoning OUR Collective Air, Land and Seas, we'd not need so much healthcare. Were they not creating Diabetes with Sugar, Cancer with Carcinogens, Bad Air with Pollution, Chlorine poisoning with heated water in our showers, selling Killing products with Poisins in them, and blaming their Victims for bad choices, we'd not have epidemics of many terminal diseases! If rampant Capitalism (with it's inherent need to grow and produce markets) was regulated we'd not have such a dire situation in this world! if these so-called Christians cared more to feed, house, and look out for the children, the weak, and the poor (they created), then we'd have a far different reality in this world. WERE the Governments to sit down and work together to solve our issues, it would be done tomorrow! Were these so-called leaders to stop the crap Politics and get to the leadership aspects of governance, we'd set priortities based on the Common Good. And finally, If any society truly Valued Life, all of this Order would end! BUT SINCE THEY ARE FIRST CAPITALISTS, WE THE WORLD MUST SUFFER UNTIL WE ARE FINALLY DESTROYED BY THEIR GREED AND LUST FOR POWER! SEEMS LIKE A VERY BAD RESULT INDEED! But then again, they and their line of Deceptive Liars in religions/business seats/governments want, wrote and try to actually create the Armageddon they envision that they alone will escape. INSANE is what these people really are. The Nuthouse resides in D.C and all other centers of POWER and Money-the Global Jihad that points to others and tries to place and redirect blame! It is all pure Obfuscation. Don't know the word: Look it up! Caesar must be happy to see such Wealth in his former realm! I render nothing to you, the old seat of the Roman Empire, nor do I receive my freedoms from you. I claim my freedoms as a living being who does not abdicate my soul to YOU!

Why life in our country is getting harder and harder .There's no doubt that a group of people is trying to slow down the Obama's Government.I don't know for elsewhere but in Florida the cost of life is crushing us down.
While the Government is working hard to give homeowners a relief on houses,Other institutions seem to be neutralizing the Governments efforts by increasing if not doubling their bills .Unless the mathematic science discovered that 1+1 is 3 instead of 2, the crisis is far from getting resolved.FPL bill is almost double now,so is Water bill, the housing community bills etc.
We are smart enough to know that If the expenses are higher than the entries that produces economical chaos. If it's about a family it will not be remarquable. But when it comes to a country in distress we are almost sure that a lots of problems are on the way. almost every institution increase its bill ,fees and elses ...
For it's not the time to double or increase bills .
Today I send you this note because I care.We cannot afford to let the crisis gain more land.
Should the houses and the Government react against that rebellious attitude ,I don't know . Only one thing remember to put the country first.
    Thank you. H.B.
