Al Gore's take on leaked climate change e-mails

A groundbreaking climate change summit is underway in Copenhagen, Denmark. President Obama will be there next week. In preparation, he spoke with former Vice President Al Gore who has been sounding the alarm about global warming for years.

The former vice president and Nobel Peace Prize winner is the author of a new book called, "Our Choice: A plan to solve the climate crisis." He joined us for an exclusive interview on American Morning Wednesday.

The annual CO2 emmissions entering the atmosphere is 186 billion tons; man made CO2 emmissions equals 6 billion tons or 3.2% of the total.

Man made CO2 emmissions can only be responsible for 3.2% of any temperature rise. If, the earth's temperature has risen 2 deg F; man would be responsible for 6,4%% of the temperature increase..

The questioned not answered is; what is causing the other 93.6% temperature rise?

Earth, approximately 4.6 billion years old. Earth has experience sudden lurches in climate that have been violent, deadly, and destructive, than anyone can ever imagined and has survive for over 4 billion years without human intervention. The planet will repair itself but it will be of earth's own doing! Some politicians are obsessive people espousing an extreme theory about this and that about earth. Most politicians can seldom agree on anything, how can I expect any of them to know about "Earth." What are the skills, qualifications and knowledge of these disagreeable politicians? When did they all become experts about "Earth?" Scientists are seldom right about anything! Their wills can be made to bend with a flash of "Money." Follow the "Money" and you will find the "Truth." Peopel can theorize all they want about Tsunamis, Volcanoes, and Earthquakes etc. but "Theory" is not "Science." There is no such thing as "Undeniable Scientific Fact or Evidence. Science is nothing more than "our Best Guess." Remember Einstein's Theories of Special Relativity and General Relativity, Einstein received The Nobel Prize in 1921 in Physics, Well, that too was just that, "A Theory." and not Undeniable Scientific Evidence or fact. However, many people regarded his "Theory" as Scientific Evidence even to this date, they still do! Remember the FBI's Fingerprints, as Scientific Evdence. Well its not, its an art and subject to "Human Errors." We have all heard about people being released from prison after being in prison for many years, and what's the new scientific evidence, DNA... Again folks, its not Scientific evidence and very much subject to human error. The domain of logic, logic's central problem is the distinction between correct and incorrect argument. Logic deals with declarative sentences, logic deals only with declarative sentences, i.e., sentences used for the purpose of making some claim or assertion about the world. A logician is not concerned with the process of inference, but with the propositions which constitute the initial and end points of that process, and the relationship between them. Propositions are either true or false and can be either affirmed or denied. The conclusion of an argumenmt is that proposition which is affirmed on the basis of the other proposition of the argument, and these other propositions which are affirmed as providing evidence or reasons for accepting the conclusion are the premises of that argument. However, a proposition standing alone by itself is neither a premise nor a conclusion because, premise... an assumption in an argument, and conclusion, what follows from propositions assumed in that argument. A process in which one proposition is arrived at and affirmed on the basis of one or more other propositions, which were accepted as the starting point of the process is a "Inference." An argument may be considered to be any group of propositions of which one is claimed to follow from the others, which are regarded as providing evidence for the truth of that one. The structure of an argument is: "Premise" and "Conclusion." The two types of argument are "Deductive" and "Inductive." In a deductive argument the truth or falsehood of its conclusion does not determine the validity or invalidity of an argument. Nor does the validity of an argument guarantee the truth of its conclusion. A valid argument is one in which all its premises are true and, hence, its conclusion is true. All these words Sounds Scientific, Well, its Not.......... Let Earth Repair itself, in due time. After-all, Earth has been doing such repairs long before Humankind came into existence............Back-off Al Gore.........Stop messing with "Mother Nature!" If Al Gore wants more money and recognition, get a real JOB..........

Al Gore is a fraud. His comments are not substantiated in fact. He claims fact but now the scientist he claims data from discredits his claims of those facts. How do you substantiate saying the sea levels are rising. Lets go talk to those people who have houses on the beaches and have been there for years and ask them if the water level is getting close to or in their house. He gets to go on T.V. in a public forum and make claims without being asked to prove anything. I have it on good authority that there are many scientists studying climate change who adimately state there is not enough evidence to support a conclusion. This man has made millions from this global warming scare. We only need to wait 1 year to see if his recent claim of the ice disappearing is true. Let's see who is right then!!!

Mother earth will do what she has been doing for a long long time. Evolve, change, that's a given. The answers are in the universe, always have been and always will be. The human factor has and always will get in the way. To bad we can't see the trees through the forest.

Al said on your Channel that Man is the Number one emmiter of co2 in the earths atmosphere. Bunk! Volcanos, oceans and forest fires are. You failed to call him out on the air! as far as Ice goes. anybody been keeping track of the Ice on mars. it is shrinking too. Did man do that? By the way the Breeder reactor guy is right. My father worked on this in the 1960's and 70's. he is now 88 years old. the projects were shut down after Three mile Island by the Carter and then the Regan administrations. Breeder Reactors will be the answer in the future. While we build them Domestic Natural Gas will bridge the gap.

Climate gate stirred up a lot of controversy the world has to admit there is climate change occurring but could it be natural climate change.

Global warming, I am curious about something, could it be solar activity sunspots warming up the earth. Things just do not happen overnight, when it comes to warming of the earth same go’s for cooling slow.
The sun just went through the most violent cycle ever recorded the biggest sun flare ever recorded this cycle lasted over 16 years (that had to warm up the earth.)

And at the same time the sun was going through a violent cycle. There was a lot of volcanic activity, spewing greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. The two combined, warmed things up on the earth.

Now the sun has gone into a more normal and quieter cycle, Things are starting to cool on the earth now.

There could be another factor to global warming, but it is way out there my theory is.
Our solar system, meaning our sun and its planets is going through a transition in our galaxy, moving from the bottom part of the galaxy to the top part of our galaxy.
Right now our sun is moving with its planets dead center of this galaxy spiral we are in 2012.
It could cause a lot of things to occur, magnetic polar shift on earth which is happening now for example causing climate change.

(( I wonder if our galaxy has magnetic polls )) , our sun and most of its planets have magnetic poles, and there has been changes occurring on them as well, our sun just went through a violent event climate change on earth, think about it.

When are any of your softball players going to ask some hardball questions? One that comes to mind is explaining gore's own carbon footprint. Seeing what he flies in and lives in is disgusting. But, asking that might make your telepromter readers seem like real journalists. That will never happen with cnn. You don't deserve capital letters.

The guy is a hoax and just listening to his lies that flow easily from his mouth almost make me sick. It's remarkable that a hoax like this gets the coverage that he does.

Thank God for Al Gore's clarity in thoroughly setting straight the truth about "climategate" and shame on CNN for shamelessly trying to stir up this non-issue with Fox-like reckless abandon. And tell John Roberts his smarmy, "gotcha" persona is not journalism, it's just annoying.

It seems that there is no interest in credible alternate scientific research that is being conducted. Perhaps there should be discussion of research such as that described in the book "The Chilling Stars" . This book outlines the apparent correlation between cosmic ray bombardment on the earth, cloud cover, and ultimately the earth’s temperature. Why not get those authors on your show and give some airtime to these scientists. Perhaps we don’t completely understand the impact of CO2 on the earth’s temperature. Here’s a review of this book. http://www.popularscience.co.uk/reviews/rev331.htm

I respect Al Gore a lot, but his comments on nuclear power are misinformed. He has not once mentioned the thorium fuel cycle, in which thorium-232 is transformed into fissionable uranium-233. The thorium fuel cycle has numerous advantages. First, thorium is abundant in the Earth's crust (3-4 times more than uranium ore). Second, it cannot be easily used for nuclear weapons because uranium-232 is also generated by thorium breeding, which is a gamma ray emitter that damages bomb electronics and would have to be extracted by centrifuge isotope separation (meaning that you are no further along than just starting with raw uranium ore). Third, thorium can be used in the liquid fluoride thorium reactor design, which was first demonstrated at Oak Ridge National Labs in the 1960s as the Molten Salt Reactor Experiment (MSRE). This design uses a liquid reactor core instead of solid fuel, which has a number of advantages: no expensive fuel enrichment or fabrication processes are necessary (the thorium can just be placed in the reactor and breed into uranium), the liquid will expand if the reaction gets too hot and slow down the reaction, meltdown dangers are non-existent because the fuel is already in a liquid state, the liquid can be quickly drained into a non-critical storage container if the reactor needs to be shut down which makes coolant loss accidents like Three Mile Island impossible, the reaction runs at a lower pressure than typical reactors eliminating the risk of pressure buildup, and finally the reactor runs at a very high temperature making it much more efficient at converting heat to electricity (about 50% rather than about 33%). These design features should result in a reactor that is significantly cheaper than today's uranium reactors and it solves most of the problems with uranium reactors. Finally, because the reactor consumes all of the thorium put into it, it generates significantly less nuclear waste (about 100x less than the reactors we have now) and its waste is only radioactive for a few hundred years rather than tens of thousands of years.

Amazingly, almost no one has heard about this reactor design. It is available now. All it needs is some R&D money from the DOE to develop a commercial design and then we need to build thousands of them.

    Al Gore:
    Quote " The Arctic Ice Cap will be gone in 5, 10, 15 years " ! ?
Come on guys, are you not reports? Get some backbone and hold this guy responsible for his outlandish comments!
Your profession is contributing to this man made climate hysteria.

I'm tired of these video clips. Not only is it lazy, but it takes more time to watch a video than it does to just read about what happened. Plus, I'm at work and I can't listen to the video.
