Health care for Christmas?

A Senate health care reform bill is now on track to be ready by Christmas Eve. It is historic legislation to remake the nation's medical system and cover 30 million uninsured Americans. What could this mean if you get sick? CNN's Dr. Sanjay Gupta and Karen Tumulty of Time magazine spoke about the health care bill on Monday's American Morning.

    Kiran:

A universal plan is what this country needs. I agree with the comment that states the public option is needed in any comprehensive plan. Without this option, the insurance companies are the real winners, and not the citizens of this country. Any reconciled plan between the House and Senate must include a public option.

Hope your holiday was good. Great to see you back.

    Cheers,
    Fred

It is Christmas Eve and I am watching CNN to learn about the Health bill passing. Whether we should be thrilled or scared it is yet to be seen and hopefully this will be the beginning of many needed changes in this country,
However, when I heard Kiran Chetry, glibly state to Dr. Gupta, "Don't doctors just go into medicine for the money" I about went through the roof!!! Kiran, I hate to tell you, you probably make much more than the average psychiatrist, pediatrician or primary care physician! Do a little research on what it is like to go to med school, residency and then deal with all the regulations of insurance companies once trying to practice medicine.
Shame on you to say such things on National television!!

It's about time, but we still need the Public Option. The Insurance industry needs some competition, we have been held hostage too long.
