Thompson: I want some of Obama's policies to fail

Fred Thompson tells CNN's John Roberts that he wants some of President Obama's policies to fail.
Fred Thompson tells CNN's John Roberts that he wants some of President Obama's policies to fail.

The President came into last night's news conference with the specific point that his giant budget plan is vital to fixing the economy.

And to his Republican critics he said, "Got any better ideas?"

Former GOP Presidential Candidate Fred Thompson joined us live with his reaction.

Is Thompson right in wanting some of President Obama's policies to fail? Tell us what you think.

Why give someone without anything positive to say air time on a show like CNN. It was unpatriotic to say anything about what President Bush did during the 8 years of incompetence. Now CNN has other stations allow any idiot with a negative thought the opportunity to wish that the President fail. This means that they want the country to fail. That is UN AMERICAN and should be called that on the air. You allow anyone with a personal agenda to vent like this and it is not right.

You need to stick with acting and don't give us your comments about having the President fail, if he fails we all fail. Even your acting is not good. Go back to Hollywood.

I truly admire Senator Thompson's acting and his service to this country however this is not the time to bicker about having the policies fail. Let's face it, the country is in a mess. Dems, Republicans, and Independents, I urge you all to work togather and for the sake of this nation, plz put your differences aside.

let's see, the president is the commander in chief of the armed forces. isn't NOT supporting the president's policies equivalent to NOT supporting the america's highest ranking troop? it's the same disengenuous accusations used by republicans for years of "NOT SUPPORTING THE TROOPS" against those that didn't support bush jr. and sr.'s war policies.

They aren't even giving Obama a chance! Thompson's party got the USA into this mess, but he sure didn't voice his opinion then, did he?

It's one's right to disagree with the President's policies but it's treasonous to wish for the failure of those policies and those who publicly do so should be prosecuted, scorned, shunned and/or punished.

Fred Thompson is no better that the rebels who started the Civil War.

There are unpatiotic and treasonous individuals in our country – most go by the name "Neo Con" – who want to impose thier minority beliefs on the majority. If the majority speaks against them then they want to bring down the country and its chosen leadership.

These individuals should be recognized for what they are. Regardless of what Thompson or his cohort Neo Cons say otherwise – these individuals are a disgrace to American life and values. Perhaps they should take there agenda to Iran, and live with another group of intolerant dogmatic ideologists who match Thompsons demeaner.

Fred Thompson and the rest of those cold hearted ,mean spirited despicable right wingers have absolutely no shame. Where were their big mouths over the last eight years when their right wing agenda created this fantastic mess? While they, as do all Americans, have the right to criticize the President, their moral foundation is on display for all to see and judge for themselves. Even when Bush and Cheney were busy dragging this world towards an abyss, at least we did not hope for their failure; for their failure would have been an American failure. And they have the audacity to call themselves patriots. Have mercy!!

He wants them to fail because he believes they take us in the wrong direction. But isn't failing going in the wrong direction? I'm confused
