American Morning viewers eagerly expressed their opinions about President Obama’s second press conference in office. Most were very supportive of the president’s agenda, given his limited time in office:
- Sheldon – I am no economist, but President Obama has been in office for a little over two months tackling a problem eight years in the making. The least Republicans can do is put their heads together to help find solutions to the problems that they created. If they have better ideas then it is their duty as Americans to make them known instead of silently hoping that the "other guy" loses.
Others expressed deep concern about the president’s proposed budget:
- Vivi – When did educating our children and taking care of our sick become wasteful spending? We play rescue country to every other place on earth BUT GOD forbid us to help ourselves!!!!!
- Sherry – The budget is: There is no budget, only a blank check backed by the full faith & credit of our children & grandchildren. America wanted him, America got him.

Barney Frank was applauded for addressing Chief Justice Scalia’s expressing his opinion in light of his position on the Supreme Court.
- Edwin – He [Barney Frank] is correct, but I would go one step further. For a sitting justice to express an opinion on a case is inappropriate. The ONLY thing that is proper for a case is the decision of the court! These opinions infer that the court has assumed the prerogative to make law and thereby violating the concept of unbiased justice in the courtroom. The Supreme Court has but one power in the constitution: Deciding the constitutionality of the case before them. The first Chief Justice recognized the pitfalls of going further and he was right. Individual opinions of justices MUST be restricted to their memoirs. How they arrived at their vote is of no value except to law students in school using them as reference. For those opinions to be placed to the public for "precedence" is harmful to the legal process. PERIOD.

- Matthew – Mr. Frank should not be calling people names. Both Mr. Frank and Justice Scalia have the Constitutional right to think and say whatever they want based on their own personal beliefs and moral convictions. Having attended Harvard Law School and awarded a J.D., Mr. Frank should understand that, and he must accept the fact that many people, including the majority of California voters as one example, may disagree with him. Using Mr. Frank’s rationale, one could say that he is a “female-phobe”.
- Phillip Paschal – Anyone who denies equal rights to gays and lesbians is a homophobe. can't wait til we get down to the truth.
- David – It’s one’s right to disagree with the President’s policies but it’s treasonous to wish for the failure of those policies and those who publicly do so should be prosecuted, scorned, shunned and/or punished.
- Vic – Fred Thompson is no better that the rebels who started the Civil War. There are unpatiotic and treasonous individuals in our country – most go by the name “Neo Con” – who want to impose thier minority beliefs on the majority. If the majority speaks against them then they want to bring down the country and its chosen leadership. These individuals should be recognized for what they are. Regardless of what Thompson or his cohort Neo Cons say otherwise – these individuals are a disgrace to American life and values. Perhaps they should take there agenda to Iran, and live with another group of intolerant dogmatic ideologists who match Thompsons demeaner.
- Gary McKoy – "That Homophobe Scalia" I am ashamed that a person in his position and with the authority to decide things that are so important and crucial to our way of life, sees things the way that he does. He should be sent to some type of human rights training. There should never be a law that says what two adults can or cannot do in the privacy of their own home. Or even a hotel room. This is the year 2009. There is no room for people like Scalia in my America!
- Amy Courtney – People are forgetting that democrats had the house and senate for the last 3 yrs so they as well as republicans are responsible for this
