Happening now:

  • Nature’s fury in the plains and Midwest.  Wildfires are breaking out all over Oklahoma and north Texas.  One entire town has burned.  Residents are trying to out run fires fueled by hurricane force winds.  In one small Arkansas town, authorities are going door-to-door, checking on residents after a tornado ripped through,killing at least two people and damaging more than 100 homes. 
  • Intense negotiations are underway with four armed, dangerous and increasingly desperate pirates off Somalia.  They’re holding an American Captain on a 28-foot lifeboat that’s out of fuel and described as being “dead in the water.”  They are running out of options, with a Navy destroyer watching their every move and two more ships on the way right now.
  • President Obama is being briefed on the pirate standoff.  He's also asking for more money for wars being fought in Iraq and Afghanistan. 
  • Obama’s Millionaire’s Club – When President Obama moved into the White House earlier this year, he took several of his fellow Chicago millionaires with him. Newly released disclosure reports show virtually all of the top Chicagoans serving in the West Wing had assets valued at a million dollars or more at the end of 2008.
  • Kumar goes to the White House – If only Obama were president before they made “Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay.”  Kal Penn (Kumar) has decided to accept a position in the Obama administration.  At least now we know why they killed him off on “House.”
  • Where’s the dog, Mr. President?  That swing set only bought him a few weeks.  The president said he would fulfill his campaign promise of a puppy after returning from NATO.  What better time than Easter weekend.  Maybe this one will come with bunny ears? Stay tuned…

    Are you guys idiots, or just extremely sloppy? I just watched a story on off-shore drilling where the person identified as "Energy Secretary" was interviewed extensively from the deck of an off-shore rig. The problem is the person you talked to was Ken Salazar who is the Secretary of the Interior. His hard had even had an identifying sticker that said "Ken Salazar Secretary of the Interior." Don't worry about your credibility, if you can't do any better than this, it's shot. Please keep your reporter and producers where, they are, at least I can watch and listen to other news outlets and know they do a modicum of research and pay attention to what they're putting out as fact. Oh, FYI, the Energy Secretary is Steven Chu.

    Why didn't the navy blow that lifeboat to pieces when the captain was off the boat? That would have left everybody not in the lifeboat have to be rescued by the navy!

    The US needs to stand firm about negotiating with these pirates. They need to be tracked down and removed. This is another form of terroists that exsist and they need to be brought to justice. ASAP!

    We need to stand up already and show the Pirates that USA does not take this lightly. The US navy ships should shoot the mother ships where these pirates are coming from. The pirates have taken 6 ships just in the last week, this crap needs to stop. If or when the pirates take over 1 cruise ship, just imagine that.. the cruise ships are loaded with money, they have casinos on them, gift ships, tons of food, not to mention, passengers that also have money.. United States needs to start stepping up and not let other countries walk all over us.. If Obama can't take charge, he needs to step down, but enough is enough already.
    IF the pirates give back the captain after all this, and nothing at all happens besides the pirates just driving off into the sunset back to their pirate filled land and not even captures by the US navy, then this will be a damn shame.. I think Americans are getting tired of nothing being done about these types of situations.

    I can only laugh about CNN's piece about Obama being called a fascist. Where was the outrage when Olbermann called Bush a fascist? Where was the Bill Synder clip talking about how Americans don't like such language? How about treating Obama the way that you treated Bush?

    You are the news media, not Obama's PR flacks. It is nonsense like this that makes Americans distrustful of the media.

    There is talk of banning assult Weapons. What is an assult weapon
    In my opinion that is to general of a term. A knife or hammer or anything that is used to do harm to another individual could be classified as a assult weapon. If there is a move to classify something as an assult weapon it should be stated what it is exactly by proper discription not a general discription as Assult Weapon
