We Listen!

Here’s your daily recap of the best feedback we got from YOU today. Continue the conversation below. And remember, keep it brief, and keep it clean. Thanks!

Perez Hilton’s rant against Miss California captured the spotlight on American Morning. Most felt Miss California was justified for standing up for her beliefs. Others felt the presentation of Mr. Hilton was biased.

  • Marilyn: At some point in time people have to stand up for what they believe. I give Miss California all the credit that her accuser does not give her. Just because he believes what he believes does not make it right. It actually show he does not read the Bible, she does and I stand up right next to her and Thank her for standing up for what she was taught. I am so surprised that Mr. Trump hired someone like he did to be a Judge with such a small mind. YOU GO GIRL.
  • Linda: You Go Girl! You are what our Country needs. A strong role model who stands up for his/her beliefs with beauty, grace, and kindness. God bless you!
  • Decobray: Your report on the Perez Hilton/Miss California this morning turned my stomach. The obvious bias you put in the report... the evil gay against the poor christian woman is worthy of a Fox News story, not CNN. The woman told Mr. Hilton he was a second class citizen of the US on national television, but when he calls her a dumb b**** on his website, you liken him to a cyberstalker that killed a woman. Tabloid television at its finest. Between the right-wing, Obama-bashing slant you people have shown lately, and the fact that Fox News is actually more vile than your reporting, leaves me with no one to turn to for unbiased news. Thanks a lot.
  • Mrs. Lou: Miss California probably belongs to one of the Southern Baptist Convention churches who have used our TVs and radio's for the last 25 years to dehumanize gay people and trash women. As you know, these churches have used the same tactics that Hitler used when he ranted against liberals, Jews, abortion, gays and other undesirables. Hitler rounded then up and sent them to concentration camps and gas chambers. These radical so-called Christian groups are no better then Hitler.

Who do you believe was correct in this argument, Miss California for standing up for her beliefs, or Mr. Hilton, for demanding his rights as a citizen of the United States? Tell us your side of the story.

The Craigslist killer was categorized as a “predator,” and “predators…will continue to adapt whatever comes along into whatever works best for them to snare their prey.” Others blamed the internet site, demanding that Craigslist remove the “erotic services” section.

  • Linda: Your interviewers comment about Craigslist being 'a conduit for predators' is a bit over the top. It's the same as saying that bars, cheap motels, the internet, vans, or any automobile in general, are 'conduits' for predators. Predators were around long before these tools of modern life, and they will continue to adapt whatever comes along into whatever works best for them to snare their prey.
  • Amanda: Craigslist disgusts me because they let the ‘erotic services' category go on. I don't understand how it's legal or why they would even create it! It's despicable (not to mention DANGEROUS!), has lead to one girl's death and probably ruined quite a few lives/relationships in the process. I think they should be required to get rid of that section of their website.

Which viewer’s argument was stronger? Will predators always be around, as viewer one contends, or was the murder of the young woman a result of the “erotic section” on Craigslist, as viewer two believes? How do you feel about web sites offers such sections? Are there enough protections for the users and the underaged who access the internet? Should the government require more restrictions? Give us your thoughts.

Obama First 100 Days – Comment on CNN’s “Obameter”

  • Smartguy7652: Come on CNN! What are you doing?? I am almost 50 years old and I have NEVER witnessed, in my adult lifetime, any president move as fast as Obama. I feel your report was intended to make the listener believe Obama has done a poor job in keeping his promises. For Obama to keep 100 promises in 3 months is pretty darn good. It has been 3 months, not 3 years! BE FAIR!
  • As we approach President Obama’s First 100 Days in office, what do you think of his performance so far? Is the media being too critical of or too easy on Mr. Obama? What issues do you care about most? Have they been addressed by the current administration? Where could President Obama improve? Let us know your opinion.

I just love all the people applauding Miss Ca. for "Standing up for what she believes in". Can we stop all the coded language and phony parsing of language. What Miss California believes in is no different than a Klansman standing up and saying that Black, Catholics, or Jews should not have the right to marry. I seriously doubt that CNN or anybody else would be standing up and applauding the Klansman because he stood up for his beliefs. But it is still ok to hate gays, people still think that gays are merely broken hetrosexuals who just haven't met the right person of the opposit sex and so it is ok to think of them as less human. To underline. Miss California said that gays are less than her, did not deserve the rights that she enjoys. So how different is that than taking it one step further and re-criminalizing homosexuality. The fact that CNN missed this has me greatly concerened.

I am grown up! I am an American!!! And, I sure as heck ain't going anywhere! It doesn't take a Christian to see that this is wrong dear! You go! Procreate on an island somewhere! That should not take long from then?? BUT.....stop imposing ur nasty behavior on those who do not wish to have it smeared into thier faces! If everyone had a "gay" attitude, there would go the human race! You raising the children here, it took the sperm of a man and the egg of a woman. How would you guys do it? Interesting. Pathetic, but interesting! Miss California had the idea that formed our country. She had no problem with the gays getting married, and thought it good that they were finally recieving some rights, but thought that marraige should be between a man and a woman! U GO GIRL!!! A contestant with good morals and values. Now I see why my country seemed to be losing theres to begin with!

Bernice and Bill, what gives you the idea you have the right to impose your religion on any other American. We're not christians, don't believe in your god/monster in the sky and we are just as important as Americans as you are. People like YOU are the problem, not people like us. Grow up and act American or get out.

Since when does someone's religious beliefs trump or nullify ANY Americans civil rights? I'm sorry but if you feel your religion is more important than the U.S. Constitution and entitles you to slur and discriminate against your fellow citizens....that makes you ANTI-American. Miss California is a disgrace to her state....and obviously not very bright either. Not only does she represent what is wrong with our society, she represents a cancer within religion in general. Religion does not trump civil rights. As young, professional Gay parents we don't teach our children to hate people like Miss California, we teach them to pity her because of her ignorant archaic superstition.

Dear Bill Bennett, In your dreams! You can wish all you want for that turn around on the popularity of Pres. Obama. Well simply said, it ain't going to happen! Sorry to disappoint.

Dear Kirin and John, Keep up the good work. The one drawback; on slow days you tend to repeat certain news pieces too many times during the three hour program.

Dear John and Kirin, Me thinks that those politicans who would let Bush/Cheney get away with breaking our laws most likely could be implicated too. Those that 'cry' the loudest might just be covering their own hides!

One more note, I can see the legal battles now! Me and you, fighting for our rights to be straight! What a sickining and quite embarrassing mess for our country once again! I have no problem with a responsible gay person. It sickens me to have to go through my day knowing that the life that God has created for humans was drastically changed by those who feel that they deserve to have it thier way! It is an abomination before my God! It is an abomination before God.

Bill, I remember a passage in the Bible that read something like this : God put man and woman on earth for a purpose. To fill the world with children. If the world ended, and once again, only the pure survive, how would the "gay" community expect to fill anything for God? If they had thier way, the human race would just end? Or, test tubes? Either way you look at this issue, you are a shame before God! GO MISS CALIFORNIA! Shame on you, Donald Trump! Of all of these people involved (besides Miss California) I would have hoped that you had more comman sence. If this is the kind of narrow minded people that the mainsteam "straight" people can't stand nor tolerate! Be glad it was not mewho had to answer that question! The gay community would not have enjoyed my thoughts on the issue. I have a gay person in my family, but she has enough respect as to NOT impose your sick ideas on others who APPEARANTLY do not agree. The judge in the panel was a horrible choice to represent the pagent in the first place. Wouldn't you like to be a "fly on the pearly gate" when God said .. "Go away from me, I never knew you" It is a total disgrace! Put them all on an island so when they reproduce, the problem will be OVER!.

Dear Kirin and John, Credit Card Companies are what is known on the street as 'Loansharks'. The outrageous interest rates that credit card companies add on to ones bill needs to be outlawed immediately! These company practices are akin to CEO's who make obscene amounts of money. It is long past time for this insanity to STOP!

Give Obama a break. The man is at the reins of a country that was just driven into the ground. He's cleaning up the mess from the previous administration, and you all expect that in a matter of DAYS? Can you jump straight up out of a 300 foot hole? Well? Can you? Geeze buddy! Why not? Do it now! Oh wow you suck!

That's what we're doing to Obama. Christ people. If you aren't going to help someone clean up a mess, that's fine. But just because you choose not to get down on your hands and knees doesn't give you the right to stand on the sidelines and criticize the people who are down there cleaning up a mess you helped cause. Real mature. And constructive. I bet his job is MUCH easier with everyone examining his every action with a microscope.

And I love how Bush fell off the face of the earth. So that's all it takes in America to get away with things? Seriously? I can do whatever I want to, hurt whomever I want, and since the next guy is gonna take over in about 3 months, I'm gonna just walk free and be forgotten?

    Wow.

Miss California has every right to speak her beliefs.
WTG! This country needs more women like you, strong, intelligent and fearless.

The Gay community seems to feel they have the corner on Rights. They do not.

"I think that if you feel homosexuality is wrong, it is not a phobia, it is an opinion." [Andy Rooney]

And to the Gay community FYI: "Just so ya know."

[Leviticus; 20:13] You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination.

[Hebrews 13:4] Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.

[1 Corinthians 6:9] Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders.

[Romans 1:19] since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them.

[Romans 1:20] For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities–his eternal power and divine nature–have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.

[Romans 1:27] and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error.

[1 Timothy 1:10] Yes, these laws are made to identify as sinners all who are immoral, and impure, homosexuals, kidnappers, liars, and all others.

[Proverbs 14:8] The wisdom of the prudent is to give thought to their ways, but the folly of fools is deception.

Considering that, for years, gay people have asked merely to be LEFT ALONE by non-gay people (who usually only come into our lives to ruin things, hurt us, or try to take things away) – which I liken more to what the whites have done to Native Americans by sticking them in boarding schools of yesteryear more than anything, I think there is still a need among a group of people who think they know best when really, let's examine that...

Gay people WORK – gay people are typically educated higher, work longer hours and pay taxes. i can look around every major metro area and name other groups of people who do nothing, have no intentions of ever doing anything besides having as many babies as possible, claiming bogus SSI claims by saying they're disabled and not even 35 years old; these girls who are getting pregnant by drug dealers and convicted felons – yea – GREAT job you straight people have done – what the hell have you been teaching your daughters? Go have sex with the first con artist, pimp or drug dealer that comes off the Greyhound Bus? Before you say ANYTHING about gay people you need to figure out your own mess when it comes to the lousy job you've done parenting this generation of 20-35 year olds that we see before us who are so ill-equipped to having kids; so bad at relationships that they might as well give out punch cards at weddings 'you're 5th wedding is free!'. Some sense of morality you're teaching your kids. It just makes me sick to think you have the audacity to even say anything about gays and lesbians – who work, don't suck up section 8 money and then wreck every property given to us for nothing, have 10 kids by 10 different partners, do anything but get jobs, and yet still are legally considered to be fit as parents. That's what makes me sick.

And for years WE have been asking YOU for tolerance? It finally occurred to me lately that I no longer care what you think of gay people. Gay people pity you – look at what you've done with your lives. Look at what your children think of you. Look at what your parents think of the mess you've made for yourselves. I wouldn't want your lives for all the money in the world – that's for sure. You have parents who are embarrassed to admit you're their children, you have children who don't want to be seen around you, you have 'marriages' that are being presided by guys in robes who aren't fit to judge a chili dog eating contest, and yet by claims of heterosexuality you seem to think you have all the answers. How about fixing your own sorry excuse for your lives first? Every day I see the results of what you've done with your lives, the mess your kids are in, the regret your parents have and how they wish you would just go away so their friends wouldn't have to see you and especially your grandchildren because they know once your 'marriage' ends, you'll come knocking on their door to beg for money...I don't know...most of you are just sad.

I applaud Miss California. At last there is a public figure that is ready
to express her belief in the face of hostility. So did Jesus as a matter of fact. He got crucified-She lost her title. You are at least in good company.
The constitution guarantees the right. What she does not deserve is the lewd comments by Mr. Hilton. He should be fired by Trump immediately!
He is the "Dumb B" and his comments reflect it.

I think what Miss California did is something that more humans should practice; she stood by her beliefs and did not allow peer pressure to sway her opinion just because she was on national television and being interviewed by someone who obviously wanted to hear a particular answer. I believe if you believe it in your heart, let your voice be heard! Don't hide what you believe in from others; be proud and share your beliefs! A little bit of open-mindedness goes a long way.
