What’s on Tap – Thursday April 30, 2009

Here are the big stories on the agenda today:

  • We may be entering a dangerous new phase in the swine flu outbreak this morning.  The World Health Organization has raised its pandemic alert level from four to five, warning of widespread human infection from the swine flu outbreak that originated in Mexico.  That’s one level away from an “all-out pandemic.”  More public schools are shutting their doors in the U.S.  All 140 schools in Fort Worth, Texas are closed today and may not reopen for weeks.  Researchers are baffled by the way the virus is jumping relatively easy from person to person, and by how it’s affecting the young and relatively healthy.  Still, health officials say there are no plans to close the border.  President Obama last night, saying that’s akin to closing the barn doors after the horse is out.  Dr. Sanjay Gupta is live in Mexico City for us this morning – ground zero for an epidemic that has now spread to four continents.  We’re also getting updates on numbers and the effort to stop it, from the acting CDC Head, Dr. Richard Besser.  He confirmed the first death in the U.S. due to swine flu Wednesday morning on our air.
  • The next 1,361 days.  Two wars, an economy in crisis and now a deadly flu outbreak on his plate, as the President assessed his first 100 days in office.  The president said he's been "sobered by the fact that change in Washington comes slow,” but thinks the administration has taken steps to restore confidence in the American people.
  • Money and Main Street: Family Fight.  Losing a job can be a financial disaster for any family, but in Spruce Pine, North Carolina, where nearly one-in-seven workers is unemployed, such tragedies are common, as textile and furniture manufacturers pack up and leave.  It’s a story that truly shows how the branches of the housing crisis have shot through the windows of almost every industry, and affected almost every average American.   CNN’s Gerri Willis meets one family, determined to cope.

I see our future going down a very dangerous path currently. I disagree with our administrations way of handeling things and believe that Americans are just being misled by someone who is a gr8 speaker, (repeating himself). Boswell, this has to be the best post I have seen so far today! I wish to thank you personally for your wwonderful imput this morning! Bless you ,,,for the American people need to start opening up thier eyes and NOT believing everything that they hear, even if it is told by the "chief". I believe that this is a woldwide problem, but why is it that the POOR AMERICAN people have to always be the ones to save the world by giving them OUR TAX MONEY?? I already pay more than enough and barely have enough food to feed my children! I don't want to have to ask our govt. for "handouts" I should not have to! If we would start finding it in our hearts to take care of our own people, but I can not ever see that happening! Looks like we will just be going hungry.

Sorry to spoil the party, but President Obama in my reasoned view is embarked on a very dangerous road for America and the world. He is throwing false hope and 'pie in the sky" at the American people with such statements as "we are beginning to see glimmers of hope. And beyond that, way off in the distance we can see a vision of an America's future that is far different than our troubled economic past." He says those things at the same time that he is saying "a complete recovery depends on building a new foundation for the U S economy" and that "We cannot rebuild this economy on the same pile of sand", while he is in fact throwing trillions of dollars to resurrent the same old foundation, and is burying the American people in the same old sand of debts upon debts. He is doing a disservice to the People of America by NOT recognizing that his current prescriptions for America's economic woes are not working, and he needs urgently to whip out his B Plan or better yet, his Better Plan, if he has one. He tells us, "We must build our house upon a Rock. We must lay a NEW foundation for growth and prosperity." He knows that is the road to follow - that, as he says, "a complete recovery depends on building a new foundation for the U S economy." Why does he not lay out his plan for even attempting to do that, instead of shovelling sand at America's economic troubles. Certainly, those troubles are man-created, and they can be man-solved. American solutions to be effective must be accomplished within the context of World Solutions, that is clear. Time is running out. We cannot delay. For "A New and Better World Economic Order" that I commend to our World leaders, and that goes to over 19,000 words and is ready for immediate worldwide implementation, Visit: http://www.boswellwilliams.com

every body should do every thing they can to keep this flu under control and one way to do this is to look around there yards for things like standing water like in wash tubs rain barraels puddels this may sound stupid to some people but theses things are breeding grounds for mosquitoes which carry the flu from one person to another the way to fix these areas are easy just pour a little bleach in the water or just impty the water out.
