Woody Allen has been a part of my life since I could understand humor. He not only gave me some of the funniest moments of my life but has also taught me (and a million others I'm sure) self-awareness about people, places and some of the ways of life. I know he was influenced by great film directors such as Fellini and Bergman but I would love to see him do one more of his farce like comedies. The first movies he made are all classic in comedy and in farce but somehow those movies were not what he had in mind. I think he wanted to be taken seriously but by making these films, he has shown time after time, he knows comedy and I believe comedy is harder than tragedy to film. Woody Allen is one of the best film directors of the times and he will be remembered that way. Imagine what he can do with all that's happened since "Annie Hall"? I believe he has another Oscar waiting and his next film looks like a riot!
He is one of the greatest, a great play writer too I have seen 3 plays by him, awesome !
I specially think Annie Hall is extrordinary, with scenes never seen in the cinema, the lobster scene for instance you never see that in other movies.
Right fom the titles in white on black and the music that starts you know you are going to see a Woody Allen movie.
long live the so well inspired Woody Allen
PS I am not rancorous, I am french and in "hollywood ending" he plays the role of a film director becoming blind and directing being blind, and in the end guess what : "the french are the only one that love that film", while this is not very gratefull on on the part of Woody Allen for a country whose people has supported him (rightfully) and a bit unjust too, this is very funny and does not alter my pleasure at seeing his movies (I just wanted to let him know that as viewers the french may be blind but not deaf 😉 )
