WASHINGTON (CNN) - After weeks of meeting senators and preparing for tough questions, Sonia Sotomayor on Monday begins the formal hearings on her nomination to become the nation's first Hispanic Supreme Court justice.

The Senate Judiciary Committee will start considering whether Sotomayor should be the 111th person to sit on the nation's highest court. If confirmed, she would be the third woman justice.

Sotomayor, 55, received a good-luck telephone call Sunday from President Obama, according to a White House statement.

Obama "complimented the judge for making courtesy calls to 89 senators in which she discussed her adherence to the rule of law throughout her 17 years on the federal bench," the statement said. "The president expressed his confidence that Judge Sotomayor would be confirmed to serve as a justice on the Supreme Court for many years to come."

Democrats who hold a majority in both the Judiciary Committee and the full Senate predict she will easily win approval from both.

Judge Sotomayer is already an experienced Federal Judge and comes with higher qualifications and more experience in the field than most of the previous Supreme Court Judges did when they were confirmed.

No, I don’t support her. I am a Hispanic male in Mass and Sotomayor scares me more than Obama . There is something about her fake smile and I do believe that she is a racist. I am tired of people in this country using the race card for everything. If a white politician made the same comments, he or she will be ask to resign. Let’s face it, she didn’t say it just once. This shouldn’t be about race but about what’s best for our nation and she is clearly bad for our Nation. Pretty soon only criminals will be carrying guns. What does that tells you. I am tired of blacks and Hispanics complaints when something doesn’t go their way. The Jewish suffered millions of loses during the Holocaust and they don’t cry as much. Is time that we pick politicians and leaders based on qualification and you can tell by looking at her decisions that she is clearly racist. I am so sick and tired of that every time that Obama makes a decision we called it “Historic”. She proved how racist she is when she ruled against the firefighters. If a minority member is not smart enough or didn’t bother to study to do well on the test, oh well. This is just another bad decision made by Mr. Obama. Just look at Janet Napolitano (what a joke) Eric Holder etc. Our country is in deep trouble people, Wake up !!!!!!
PS.. I am watching the hearing right now and she can’t give a straight answer..
