Obama administration huddles to assess, set goals

Another tough week ahead for the president. The debate on health care reform moves forward in the Senate and there are some big new worries today about unemployment benefits and paying down the debt. The president got his top advisers together this weekend to take stock.

What do you think? What must Obama accomplish in the next 6 months? How would you advise the president?

This item appeared on your mornin show:

Here are the big stories on the agenda today:
Breaking news… Former President, Bill Clinton is on the ground in North Korea. A source tells us he’s there to negotiate the release of Laura Ling and Euna Lee, the two U.S. journalists detained back in March and sentenced to 12 years hard labor. The worldwide resources of CNN are on alert to bring you every development out of the secret state. And we’ll also ask the question, is this a slap in the face to his wife, the president’s current top diplomat?

Your comments like"is this a slap in the face to his wife, the president's current top diplomat?"

CNN should report the news-NOT CREATE THEIR OWN! It's this kind of thing that causes viewers to give them a Grade D.

Bring back our industries! Support Unions.Tax the hell out of those that send our work overseas and give bigger insentives to those that stay here.
    Push- Buy "American"made.
Find those Companies that are stashing their profits overseas and find a way to stop all their loopholes. The middle class is tired of paying all the taxes.

Micro management, isn't that how communism started? Before we know it, all important businesses will be under government control.

The President needs to continue steering our listing, storm-tossed Ship of State....steady as she goes. Little by little it will righten, with the right captain aboard, with a good moral compass...thank God.

He has already lifted our battered image abroad, and his diplomatic team is without peer.

He should focus on creating jobs for all the factory workers who lost their jobs when corporate greed took manufacturing overseas.

And he must face down the toadies in Congress and the lobbyists of K Steet and demand ethics reform and enforcement. This country is being run by the megacorporations of agriculture, Wall Street, the banks, oil and gas, the drug companies, the insurance companies, et al, who fund and campaign almost everyone in Congress. It is absolutely disgusting

How can You claim that illegals won't get free health care??!!!!! This is an outrage left-wing LIE. They get free health care now!! It's illegal to be denied medical attention. They know that the hospitals don't talk to immigration so they go in and claim they don't speak English and get the medical care they need because it's illegal for them to be denied care. Well, it's free for them but it causes our rates and taxes to increase . . . just as this ridiculous liberal plan does. i still say – let the liberals that are for the plan pay for the plan, not us law abiding moderates who are just trying to make a nice living for ourselves and our children

Americaś little foray into European-style socialism is having terrible results, and people are beginning to emerge from the Hopey-Changey trance. The Obama administration is a bumbling failure, and grows more comical by the day. The emperor has no clothes!

Considering that the president inherited a train wreck from that moron Bush I think he's doing terrifically. It's just going to take a while to straighten this mess out.

Health care costs are a tremendous burden on the economy and more and more employers are dropping their coverage for their employees because of the cost. Health care reform has to be addressed now. That will help stabilize the economy some and help create jobs.

The economy is showing signs of turning around but it's going to take time. I think the stimulus was necessary and is working. Look at what a success "Cash for Clunkers" is.

Keep up the good work Mr. President. I'm glad you're high energy.

Job creation MUST be the President's priority over coming months and informing us weekly of progress towards that goal! Creating jobs will get him re-elected and support deficit reduction. The President should question when banks will provide credit to fund growth.

I understand that health care is of great importance right now. It is significant to helping our economy but there are other approaches. I feel the president needs to take more action upon the illegal immigrants in this country. I live in a town where illegal immigrants are taking all our jobs, not paying taxes and using there children as anchor babies. I am a teenager and I couldn't find a job for half a year. Everywhere I went jobs had been taken by the illegal immingrants. If Obama was to try and fix this situation, the unemployment would increase and and the people who are using our money and not paying taxes will be gone. Overall, if the president doesn't do something about the illegal immigration, he will never be able to fix the economy.
