Here are the big stories on the agenda today:
- Moment of disaster: caught on tape. Brand new home video that for the first time, shows the mid-air collision of a small plane and a sightseeing helicopter over New York's Hudson River that killed nine people. You'll see the pictures and hear the horror in the voices of people who knew the victims. Plus, new questions about two air-traffic controllers on duty that day.
- A former Falcon – now an Eagle. Quarterback Michael Vick, who's spent most of the past two years in prison for running a dog-fighting ring is back in the NFL, and PETA is giving a not-so-subtle reminder to people about his abuse of dogs and use of “rape racks.” Alina Cho is looking at his new deal and fan reaction.
- Pointed questions and heated tempers. From town to town, the health care debate rages on the road for members of congress at town hall meetings. Today the president steps back into the fray, heading to Montana, trying to stay on message through the noise.
- Push! And tweet! Yes. Twittering during labor is becoming a trend! Today Carol Costello’s “just sayin’,” have we finally crossed the line? Are we too wired?
I am happy to see so many comments to "give him a second chance" concerning Michael Vick. Certainly, I do not condone his crime; however, he took his punishment like a man, served it like he was supposed to do. He not only served his time, he lost all his assets and was forced into bankruptcy. He did all that society insisted he do to pay for his sins. What else would you hypocrites have him do, beg and plead in shackles to you that you would bend over and let him kiss your behind? You people are so disgusting! You so-called "animal lovers" are the same people who think nothing of killing a human-being! So, to you, an animal's life is much dearer than a man's life! You people are just looking for 2-minutes of face-fame. Get a life. O' by the way, I have owned a dog for the past 15 years; the third one that I raised until his death; spent about more money on his healh and welfare as I spent on my children; so don't try to say that I don't love animals.
You people need to take a step back and realize how many chances God has given your bigoted behinds and make an effort to be at least a little bit like the Lord!!! Get off Vick's back and sweep around your own door before you try to make him sweep around his – as HE already has done.
All you self serving hypocrites need to be ashamed of yourselves.
Michael Vick served his time and he should be allowed to play again.
Michael Phelps smoked dope at a party got caught and didn't serve any time is this action legal? Do not pull that self righteous hypocritical crap on us.
The "debate" on Healthcare is disappointing in how it's being carried out. The whole question of should we or shouldn't we can be simply answered. The Ins. companies are deathly afraid of reform. So much so that they a spending millions on buying as many politicians as they can, both sides. But, to my mind, the simple fact that they are so aggressively against reform is proof positive that we need this reform as quickly as possible. After all, the Ins. companies are deeply interested in our well being. Right?
All I can say About the New Surgeon General is; "Why Don't You Make It, ah, 2- Whoppers, I'm Hungry!"
If the Republicans Don't Get On Board with Constructive Input Pretty Soon
they May Find Themselves Standing Alone in the Rain With Nobody to Vote For in the 2012 Election to Beat Out the Democrats!
Watching Clips of Newt Gingrich, You can See the Embodiment of the Fear in Republicans Growing. So Afraid of Obama's Health Care BILL Passing + It Being the Right Thing to Do for the American People, Which It Is, Republicans Fear the Democrats Getting All the Credit
The Desperation After-Burners of Fear are Really Starting to Kick In, in the Hearts of Republicans Every Where!
The point is not about rules. Its about should he be forgiven to move on with his career. And I say yes, as he too has others depending on him. Martha Stewart deserves a second chance when making terrible mistakes and does Jasmine, Joe, Jane, Sandy, mom, children or whomever that depend on us. Mistakes are why there are second chances! I am noticing those who choose not to forgive will never be forgiven! Let's not pick and choose who we will forgive!
Martha Stewart's career was self-made and varied beyond belief in the amount of jobs she provided with all the different divisions created. She didn't have to depend upon the rules of an institution like the NFL that expects you to behave a certain way. She didn't have to go by a set of ethics to be in good favor with her boss and her team. And....too many other people depended on her leading the helm and keeping the business on track for their own livelihoods – they forgave her and opened her with open arms. I don't particularly like her either and could have cared less whether she came back into the limelight or not. So I guess I'm not racist, just fair-minded. Me not liking what Michael Vick did, (bank rolling killing and fighting dogs) has nothing to do with his color, just his character.
Ms. Romans made a comment about Cloniea l Bank
What Michael Vick did was heinous, but it was against an animal. Donte Stallworth killed another human because of drunk driving. Donte only spent 30 days in jail, and there were rumors that he'd get a chance to play this year before the commissioner eventually banned him for just a year! Vick was out of football for over 2 years, did his time according to law, and is remorseful and even working with PETA to try to stopdogfighting.
Does he have a right to play football? No, but our justice system is based on reconciliation, and this is a perfect example of someone going through the system and returning back to society a changed man. Why cant people believe in the system? Should we just kill anyone who commits a crime?!?
i am amazed. People keep saying that MIchael Vick has payed his dues. To whom? All of those animals that he funded to get killed simply for his greedy pleasure will never come back. He apologized to his fans but they did not get electrocuted and raped. Forgiveness is an amazing trait but i have nothing to forgive him for. Anyone who murders can't be forgiven. Murder is the difference between him and Martha Stwewart.
I and many other NFL fans find it extremely difficult to grasp the belief that Michael Vick is remorseful for his actions rather than the compilation of abundant (and disturbing) evidence regarding the seriousness of his crimes.
Shame on the Eagles for supporting a man willing to train, fight, and kill animals that are synonymous with loyalty and unconditional love and affection.
Michael Vick is a disgrace to the heart of an american past-time. If I were an Eagles fan, I'd spread my wings and fly far away from the toxicity that is imminent with his presence.
He deserves his fiscal and societal debt. Anyone who believes he is a changed man is misinterpreting persona for person. America loves a sensational come back story and there is no doubt that this Michael Vick saga is a sensational trip down memory lane with two words coming to mind: O.J. Simpson.
I couldn't turn my computer on fast enough to respond! I'm amazed at how the outrage persists with the Michael Vick case when you barely hear a peep about Donte Stallworth (Cleveland Browns) who KILLED a man with his vehicle because he chose to drive drunk in Miami. What should outrage people is this player who is now suspended by the NFL with be reeinstated after the Superbowl. R U kidding me???? Although I'm a NY Giants fan, I will be the first in line to buy a Vick jersey.
vick should be banned from ANY recreational occupation! he should be required to work ONLY under a strict hourly wage. it should have a cap, and he should not be given ANY celebrity status. he used all his good karma up when authorities found 17 dog carcasses in his backyard. i could puke that he's been re-instated. ff-nyc
Hypocrisy at its best regarding Michael Vick. Why is it that we stand behind Martha Stewart and the crimes against her, but not Michael. She served her time and came out forgiven and jumped right into her career. Her career waited with open arms to forgive. This is why racism is still a conspiracy in this country. Ironic who we choose to forgive and who we won't. He is without guilt of something cast the first stone!
I will NEVER watch the Philadelphia Eagles ever again even if they are in the Superbowl. I also plan to find out who their sponsors are so I do NOT give them any of my business!
Shame on the Philadelphia Eagles for signing up Michael Vick after what he did. Playing football in the NFL is NOT a right that Vick is entitled to, it is something that one must truly earn and deserve!
Michael Vick definitely does NOT deserve the millions of dollars that he will get from the Philadelphia Eagles after what he did. He should still be working for $10 an hour and he is very lucky to be out of prison!
