For those, like myself, who grew up on Cape Cod, Teddy and the Kennedys, were a part of my family. He was a man of privilege who lived a life of service so that the opportunities he enjoyed might be open to all. When he endorsed Barak Obama, I felt he was handing off the torch of leadership to the next generation, and as our "father" encouraging us to tear down walls of bigotry and discrimination. When he asked that the Massachusetts legislature ammend law to ensure that my home state would have the vote of two senators, I felt his end was imminent and he wanted to make sure that we were protected whether he was alive or dead. As he fought for life, he fought to ensure that all Americans would have the health care he enjoyed as a privilege.
The torch has been passed on to us. We cannot fail. In memory of Teddy Kennedy we must give him his final victory–health care reform.

It is the end of an era for me having grown up with the Kennedy's. The loss of John when I was 13 was a moment in time that changed my life. I really only felt Ted's presence in the shadows of my life, but now with him gone I realize the tragedy of it all. So many of the Kennedy's died in tragic circumstances. I think Ted could have been the greatest of them all. Always fighting his demon's he rose above the darkness and gave the world a better sense of who the Kennedy's really were. I think now I realize how much he will be missed in the senate. I also am Irish and I thank the Kennedy's for bringing us a better sense of who we are. God bless you Ted.
