Its simple MONEY will be the end of us. Think about it people die for MONEY, people kill for money, people betray our country for MONEY, they even pay terrorists money. MONEY causes greed and greed leads to corruption. MONEY is connected to everything for example when you got to church they pass around a collection basket then u see the pastor ride away in a new Benz. Something else look what’s causing the problems with our economy MONEY. Maybe if money didn’t have so much power over our lives we could get something done.

    Rudy and Ross,

Whilst I agree that we need to be taking care of Americans first, let's take a closer look at exactly where these vehicles you call foriegn are actually built. Nissan, Honda and Volkswagen for instance are all officially "foriegn" companies but most, if not all, of the vehicles with their logos on them are built on AMERICAN soil, by AMERICAN workers!!

I would love to see you go tell all few THOUSAND American workers at the Honda plant in Marysville, OH that people should be purchasing a Ford Focus instead (built almost completely in Mexico!) because Ford is an "American" company.

NAFTA was a terrible piece of legislation, I agree, but you are being irresponsible to go putting out blanket statements like that.

As for putting a trade embargo on China... I couldn't disagree with you more and yes, I am a proud, born and raised American. I encourage you, Rudy and Ross Wolf, to go read some books – even just basic college level texts – about world economics in the 21st century before you decide that the best option would be for the US to default on the War Bonds China issued to us (which, btw, we have yet to pay one penny back of!)

Our world today is not a set of kingdoms that can wall themselves up and survive like it was back in the 14th century! All of the worlds economies, big and small, are intertwined and reliant on each other's existence. It is just not a fiscally sound choice to default on those War Bonds!

Beyond that, let's take a look at the further impact defaulting would have on the US as well as the rest of the world. Say we do default. China say, "Obama, we need to talk about this bill you owe us, buddy." Say there's a series of "talks" and we stay firm that we don't like them spying on us (which CNN fails to point out that we have been doing right back to China and all the rest of the world for decades now!) so we aren't going to pay.

This makes China angry and they say, "ok, you don't pay; we take military action". Consider for a moment the price tag of a war against a military giant like China. We just defaulted on our last war bonds so what country is going to lend us money now to fight this war? Oh that's right – NOBODY!

Now how about the blood shed of us fighting the Taliban and Al Qaida and other extremists? They're ruthless, heartless, savage groups but they don't have a fraction of the means available to them that China would have! How's this looking to you guys so far? Sound like a fun game of Russian Roulette you want to play?

Let's keep going. Speaking of Russian... Tensions are already tight between the US and Russia. The only country Russia hates more than China is – you guessed it – the USA! Tell me you don't see them coming to the aide (or at the very least moral support) of China in this fight!

Yeah, sounds like you guys really did your homework before opening your mouths and letting your fingers dance across that keyboard. Next time, consider some pepto before you get diarrhea of the mouth again.

The massive Chicom espionage/sabotage effort that is going on at the University of Michigan has been well documented. The latest theft is acoustic technology as applied to nuclear submarfnes. Why is it allowed to continue and why did not CNN expose it?

why does cnn never mention nafta or fast track? these two programes have destroyed our economy and is now destroying our country. one example is cash for clunkers,I resent our unamerican politicians using my tax dollars to support import auto manufactures.cash for clunkers should have been for american autos only.ask all the auto workers how they feel about these two programs and then tell them its good for our country. lets take care of americans first and then worry about other countrys later. as for china, what part about them being communist does our elected officials not understand? IM SICK OF MADE IN CHINA. those who move their business to china are unamerican and should prosecuted for same

It is getting tiring seeing U.S. Taxpayers pay for technology development only to have it stolen by Chinese Spies. Americans should demand the U.S. Government renege on a Trillion Dollars it owes China and ask Congress to reinstate the ban on importing Chinese goods. Is it smart for Americans to continue purchasing Chinese products, providing China the profits it needs to build its military and economy into a superpower, that might subsequently eradicate America?

I am sure that US will be doing same. And both countries are growing up the nuclear capability of their illicit son – Pakistan. It was Nixon who simply took US on blind date with China nd it is hard for US now to recover from it.

China is just trying to get that which hasn't already either been sold to them or handed to them on a platter by the republicans and their corporate partners in the name of "globalization of markets". While the republicans claim their conservative philosophy is the only true course for Americas continued greatness, they are actually leading us down a road to domination by the the greatest threat to freedom in the world today – Chinese communist totalitarianism – coming to you in,probably, less than 2 generations. The very ironic thing about that is, the alliance of the religious right with this philosophy will ultimately lead to that which they claim to fear from liberals, democrats et al. – the violent, total suppression of their faith on a scale not seen since the Jews were persecuted by the third reich in the 30's and 40's.

Our is one of a few countries in this modern world that hell-bent on our own destruction. We have been selling out our technology to the highest bidder for a very long time and it's time to start thinking about our own country's future rather that a quick buck for CEOs and stockholders. We allow the Chinese to populate our institutions of higher learning and take the latest technologies back to China–all under the guise of higher learning. Folks, China has one mission–to dominate the world economically and politically and they are doing it at America's expense. It's time to wake up people and look at what's taking place everyday–we are selling out ourselves to the highest bidder under our capitalist greed. Stop the outflow of science and technology to China and for heavens sake, look at what you are leaving to your children and young Americans.
