Is the economy improving?

Fed Chief Ben Bernanke says the recession is "very likely over" but he admits there's still a tough road ahead.

There are still cities and towns across the country where it's hard to breathe a sigh of relief. One city hit the hardest is Lansing, Michigan.

For months we've been talking to Lansing's mayor, Virg Bernero, keeping tabs on how people are doing.

It`s time we let the free market rules prevail.

As far as I can see, the economy is far from recovering. I have several friends who work for non-profits who are starting to cut jobs dramatically. I am a small business owner as well. The consumer confidence is at an all time low. I had the first down month in over a year in July of this year, August as well, and September (which is already a slow retail month) is looking pretty dismal. The economy is NOT in recovery. The recession is NOT over. I truly think that people in Central PA are just beginning to be affected by it.
