It's a problem hiding in plain sight: modern day slavery.
The State Department says up to 17,500 people are trafficked into the U.S. every year, usually women and children.
This next story puts a new face on the global crisis. 30 men who say they moved half way around the world for a shot at the American dream, but were tricked into a life of forced labor.
CNN's Sean Callebs reports for part one of our AM original series, "No Way Out? Human Trafficking."

um these people where promised LEGAL visa's into the US how where they to know it was not legal come on guys have some compasion for these men
Dave and Luke – These men were under the impression that they were entering the US legally, thats why they paid 11K upfront for the paperwork and visas. You can't blame them for trusting a US company who told them it was all legal and gave them official-looking documents to fill out.
Smokey Joe AKA Obama/Reid/Pelosi
It's actually Ted Kennedy's fault, along with a long list of co-conspirators.
boo hoo
if you hadn't tried to enter the country illegally then you wouldn't be in this position
sorry you won't be able to get all the free stuff that we give to illegals
What American dream?
Blaming Bush for Slave labor is like blaming Obama for the so-called Stimulus: Neither President had any influence. (Pelosi & Reid own the "Stimulus") The blog had no mention of the crminal involvement of the COMPANIES that profitted. In a just world, the managers directly involved would be stripped of US citizenship ( even if they were born here) and sent on a one way trip to the country their "slaves" came from, with no money and no credit cards.
Dont get to mushy, these people are here illigally.I really dont want to pay for their health care, do you?. How about you tree huggers that always post on these pathetic not sad stories.
What is new about modern-day slavery? Teachers have been victims of it for years.
Another leftover of the Bush (never met an illegal immigrant I didn't like) years and Republican party support for "slaves for capitalists" program of aid to big business – no matter what laws are violated in the process.
This is so sad to see. It is vital that we educated ourselves and our Nation concerning such horrid crimes.
