White House taking on climate change skeptics

The White House and the Environmental Protection Agency are taking on critics of climate change. The EPA says greenhouse gases threaten the public health and safety of every American, and the announcement could pave the way for future regulation. Our Jim Acosta has the report from Washington.

    How it’s Done
Ok, so anyone who has been watching the news lately and paid attention to the climate “debate” has had quite a lesson in propaganda and media manipulation. A little sarcastic satire here:

Is global warming unsettling for you? No problem! First of all if you don’t like the conclusion of the vast majority of the scientific community all you have do is deny its veracity. Truth is irrelevant as long as long as you can muddy the waters sufficiently to cast doubt and mistrust on the scientific community and allow the public to find solace in the rationalization, that “after-all it is not settled science” is it?? It is always easier to convince people of what they want to believe anyway. It is even better if you can find a few opportunistic scientists who will disagree with consensus opinion and cast more doubt on legitimate data because you know that the media will give as much time to your few chosen contrarians as they will to the whole rest of the majority scientific community in the name of “fairness”.
Next you need a little conspiracy and scandal to spice things up. After all, what better buttons to push than fear and mistrust of the nameless “they” who are doubtless hiding facts and manipulating data so that “they” can get bigger research grants. (The public who was raised on soap operas loves this!) Don’t forget to find some vulnerable scapegoats to focus your malice on.
Wow! You are really rolling now. By the way it helps to get a few loud-mouthed newscasters and talk-radio hosts on your side and if you fall short of money ask the oil industry for a little cash.
Now, on to advanced manipulation, find an anonymous hacker to mine e-mails until you find one that has just the right insinuation. Ahh, more scandal, can you smell the blood in the water yet? Play it for all it is worth by using inflammatory language that creates its own reality with phrases like “This will blow the lid off the global warming conspiracy” If “hacking” e-mails is not your style, no problem, just use the Freedom of Information Act to request e-mails from NASA. You don’t even need a reason. Isn’t freedom without responsibility great!
Of course timing is everything, so be sure the story breaks just before the world community meets to shape an agreement on climate change, that may be the last chance in this century to contain global climate change in a manageable scenario. Don’t worry about all the nightmare predictions you hear, you will be topsoil, or should I say “dust in the wind” by the time any of those come to pass in the mid or late 21st century.
When all is said and done you can look at the mess you have created and take satisfaction in knowing that future generations will view the history of the early 21st century and ask their grand parents how they could have been so gullible to be bamboozled by a small group of lobbyists, conservative hacks and ambitious politicians eccentrically devoted to the continuation of an unsustainable, oil guzzling society at any cost, while ignoring the warnings of legitimate scientists from all over the world. One parting piece of advice, don’t buy any ocean front property and move to northern Michigan, no harm in hedging your bets!

I think climate change is a combination of both manmade and natural causes but no one has tried to find out how much is contributed by each. In the late 50s/early 60s scientists were talking about the CO2 increase measured at Mauna Kea in Hawaii. Reason for that spot was how pristine is was supposed to be. But at the same time they were taking those measurements there was construction on newer astronomical observatories going on at the same time. Lots of construction machines, trucks, and vechiles of construction workers and astronomers. I never recall anything ever being said how much that traffic contributed to the increase.

Is the EPA as informed as the Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, I think so. They are both in position to be very dangerous to our nation. I hope the conservatives are watching them like the nocturnal thieves they are, stealing freedom from every nook and cranny. How do they do this? By lying! Using science to put agendas like Darwinism over Creation or Intelligent Design. These progressive liars have influenced scientific condition to get their desired outcome–their agenda. Yes, they are thieves, deceivers, and liars. The EPA should be investigated and have its power reduced to a token advisment to the president.

Once you are discovered influencing the science, then it is not science anymore. Climategate is not science. I am curious how many other laws have been made on bad science like they are trying to with climategate. I know one–healthcare reform.

The so-called climate warming is nothing more than a THEORY! There is no real science to back it up. They used data found in ice cores to predict what they THOUGHT it meant, but aren't real sure if that is accurate. Scientists go were the money is for grants not the other way around. So CO2 is up, but it has been up in the past and there were no humans around, so why was it up? Volcanoes! Remember that volcano erupting in Hawaii that has been for the last 20+ years? Did they remove that CO2 from the equation? NO! What about other factors? Did they remove them? NO! Cleaning up pollution is the way to change not some half-baked THEORY that can't be proven!

Obama and the nation condemned Bush for launching into a war in Iraq, based in part on data from the CIA on weapons of mass destruction, data that we later learned were false. In my view, Bush and his people deserved to be criticized for that. But Obama is making the same mistake with the climate. He is heading into a massive restructuring of our economy, based on scientific conclusions that are highly suspect._Colin Powell lamented that the epitaph on his gravestone would be that he went to the UN and told them that Iraq had WMD, when they did not. It could be that people such as Senator Boxer who harangue us with the claim that the science is ’settled,’ may live to regret doing so. They could well be telling us a falsehood. The science is not settled by any means. Rather, at least to me, it is unsettling._Obama may well be condemned in history for the choices he is now making. He is impeding the science, by funding only one side, by trying to discredit scientists who disagree, and telling us that the models upon which their conclusions are made are sound. He is breaking yet another promise, the one where he said he wants to ‘re-enshrine science.’ I am deeply disappointed in him, and the way he has tried to bully his opposition on climate. That is not enshrining science; it is Chicago back-alley politics. If he does not have the temperament or intellect to be involved in the process of scientific investigation, he should stay away and let them who have those attributes, do their work without making it worse than he already has.
That would be “change we can believe in.”

Oh, great. Let's politicize science.... and this is supposed to raise our confidence level? Isn't that what 'Climategate' is all about, how it isn't 'fashionable' to question Global Warming.... and how lots and lots of grant money rests on keeping the hysteria level high?

I was in China this summer and saw cars using natural gas and motorcycles with electric rechargable engines. Your report showing a young man driving a Hummer is completely different from what I saw in all the cities. Most Chinese live in congested cities with excellent mass transit. There are not enough roads in the cities for every Chinese to drive a car. On the other hand, the US has plenty of roads and plenty of cars in our ever expanding cities and suburbs. Please balance your stories and show what China is doing right and wrong, and what we need to be doing to cut our carbon footprint her in the US
