Haiti aftermath: Keeping order in chaos

Saving lives and keeping order are top priorities in Haiti right now but that will be a considerable challenge. The capitol city Port-au-Prince and its police precinct are in ruins and there are no fire and rescue resources to speak of. New York City police commissioner Ray Kelly has been overseeing the training of law enforcement in Haiti. He spoke to CNN's Kiran Chetry Wednesday.

    Disabvet? I usually don't name call on blogs, but if the shoe fits... I must say sir/mam that your comment that was made about "CALIFORNIA'S ELITE"; VERY IGNORANT. It's ignorance like that comment that keeps our country from progressing. That's right, keep that "every man for himself attitude". it wont be until a quake hits us and is 100xs more unforgiving than the one n Haiti and it's YOU OR YOUR SPOUSE OR CHILD UNDER THE RUBBLE WHERE NO ONE CAN HEAR THEIR SCREAMS. I GUARANTEE YOU'D BE BEGGING FOR AS MANY PEOPLE TO COME TO YOUR AID AS THEY DO N HAITI. I cant believe YOU are a VETERAN w/that selfish, all about me attitude.Think before u post IGNORANCE... p.s. whether u know it or not, families&friends r using these sites to find victims n the quake that havent been heard from for 5days,& dont know if they're DEAD OR ALIVE. could u imagine what they feel when they're looking for someone & see an idiotic, insensitive venomous blog such as yours? ofcourse you wouldnt because the US is safe from disasters

    How is it that 2 countries on the same island didn't both suffer from the effects of the earthquake? I don't pretend to understand geology, could you give a brief explanation?

    14 JAN 2010: YOU REPORT THAT CALIFORNIA IS SENDING THEIR ELITE SEARCH AND RESCUE SQUADS TO HAITI, AMONG OTHER ELITE UNITS. WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF, GOD FORBID, CALIFORNIA (HOME OF THE EARTHQUAKE) HAD AN EARTHQUAKE OR OTHER NATURAL DISASTER ?? ALL OF OUR ELITE UNITS WOULD BE UNAVAILABLE TO ASSIST OUR OWN CITIZENS...
