How is stimulus being spent?

Editor's Note: All week, CNN examines the stimulus and looks at one of the greatest areas of concern for Americans: the economy. Tuesday on American Morning, we'll show you some of the good news from the stimulus money. One family says they have food on their table because of it.

We're breaking down the $787 billion stimulus plan and holding Washington's feet to the fire for the spending. Where did your money go? Who is it helping? And who has abused it?

On Monday's American Morning our Christine Romans gave us a breakdown of where all that stimulus money actually went.

Complete waste of money. Only CNN thinks this is a great thing. They believe and report everything the administration says. No need to check facts. Obama does some new math and says he saved 2 million jobs and call the stimulus a success, CNN gives it hours of air time praising what a success it is, but never stops to ask, how can you prove you "saved" 2 million jobs. And even if you believe it, it is still a dismal failure. Hundreds of billions of dollars already spend for just 2 million jobs saved. Not my definition of success.

I was watching your stimulous spending account this am John and wonder why projects like fast rail between cities are lacking , these would create thousands of jobs and good future revenue as it looks like the airline industry is in decline and it's future will be to serve business travellers.

This morning you reported the $100 million spent on the food industry out of the federal stimulus project; yielded 195 jobs. Isn't the real story that out of all of that money ONLY 195 jobs were created. Correct me if I'm wrong but that's $5 million per job. I am fairly confident not one of the jobs created even came close to six figures much less. That seems like an awfully poor investment. Seems to me the federal government should simply hold a raffle. Give a random 195 people $5 million each. I can't have any less of an effect on the economy that what this current snafu is having. How about report on the massive ineffeciency of these types of programs.

I agree it's important to help people in need by expanding food stamps and other welfare programs, but I thought the purpose of the STIMULUS plan was to stimulate the economy. Sure, you can say that expanding food stamps and stocking food lockers INDIRECTLY benefits farmers. But $100 million to create 200 jobs? Why not just give 200 folks a half million bucks? That money would be spent pretty quickly and directly stimulate car dealers, Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Home Depot/Lowes, and local contractors as folks fix up their homes.

It was all for show and political purposes and no one was susposed to ask any questions. The bankrupting of america is well on track. Remember all the talk of "income redistributing". Obama just loves the mindless sheep.

Hey Tony I had no luck with the email address your recommended., so am responding here just to let you know nothing was gleamed from the coverage of $42MIL to PA. Was interested in how much of the 42Mil has been spent in $ to goods produced in the US vs foreign, how much (in salary & benefits) to full time & how much to part time jobs & how many each & how long they lasted. Your segment was not informative & suggest it does not continue in this vain as it is a waste of viewers & staffs time.

600+ million to hire three officers!!! I an glad for the officers, but as a tax payer I am very disappointed in the return on my investment. Give me 600+ million I will get you 20+ short term jobs, and create 20+ long term jobs or more over the next 4 yrs in an area where unemployment is 15%+, and I will show everyone who wants to see where the money goes every cent spent. This is another reason to invest in small business and not government. I will spend every penny as wisely as possible to get the very most of the investment. I helped fund our current presidents campaign something I have never done before in my life (I am 40). I feel very cheated.
