Americans have opened their hearts and wallets for Haiti. The biggest recipient has been the Red Cross.
Texting the word "Haiti" has raised $31 million so far. America clearly trusts the Red Cross, but should we?
Our Allan Chernoff investigated the Red Cross relief effort in this report.
The sad thing about these comments from the public is that *anyone* can say *anything* - even if it is completely untrue - and that mistruth spreads. I beg everyone to do your own research. You can absolutely trust the American Red Cross to get your generous donations to people in need and there is ample information available to the public to show that. Also, there are charity watchdog groups that have information available to you as well. The Red Cross is a very trustworthy organization and I would hate to see people in need not receive services because of this uninformed gossip.
After seeing this article I decided to check on just what the Red Cross has been doing and how competent it really was. I found that this group makes congress look like Mother Theresa. It is, and has been, one of the most corrupt organizations we have ever had. The inflated salaries paid to it's executives are disgraceful.
I checked because I had heard stories about things that happened during WWII and it seems like the same corrupt things are still going on. Don't donate to the red cross!!!!
Trust must be earned

I'm never sure who to give to charity becuase I'm not sure if it really gets to the people who are need. Their should be better oversite in regards to any charity because their is always a bad seed in any organization.
If we cannot trust the Red Cross who can we trust? We gave our money hoping it will reach the Haitian people and i hope there are still some charities we can trust.
