U.S. census reaching out to immigrants

There's no running water, questionable sanitation, and abject poverty. No, it's not Port-au-Prince, but towns along America's Mexican border, called "colonias," where many are illegal immigrants.

Near Laredo, Texas, the U.S Census Bureau is reaching out, hoping the desperately poor will participate in next year's census. And as our Ed Lavandera found out, many in the "colonias" would rather be counted out, than in.

I was brought up to believe that the census was to count CITIZENS of the USA. Why are we counting illegal criminals? The only reason I can find is that the dems want to find out how many potential votes they have to buy off. That's why we had WELFARE in the 60's and now they want immigration reform to buy more votes.
I know that both parties are corrupt and will not vote for any incumbent.

Isn't time that we know how many are illegal in our states. We might be surprised how many their are. We need as country to put more border patrols out to catch the illegals coming across our border. They also take away from jobs that right now our own citizens could use these jobs. Plus, alot of them are tied to drugs and crime something that we don't need more of in our country. Mexico needs to work on making a better place for them to live and work so maybe then we won't have this problem.
