Sen. Harry Reid's fight for his political life
(CNN) – This fall's midterm elections are still over six months away, but some lawmakers in Congress are already on the ropes.
One of them is Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. Our Jessica Yellin went one-on-one with the Nevada Democrat and asked him about the ballot box showdown he's facing back home.

Gerard – it is NOT the American govts job to provide its citizens with healthcare, jobs housing, retirement. when it is the govt job it is called COMMUNISM. as for your socialist security..have you not heard..? its bankrupt...it is by close to a TRILLION dollars. but thats ok.,,.well just tax people some more. but gee i wonder what i could have done with all that money taken out of my paycheck to pay for taxes on this crap.,.,,.hmmm mabye pay for it myself....now its just going out the door to a broken system bleeding to death. think about it. every time you get money from the govt it has to come from somewhere. it has to come from someone who worked for that money and had it ripped from them. tea party members are not oppsed to govt, we are not opposed to SOME taxes. however when we are taxed more and more for hemmroging social programs, when we are more and more under govt control, when our lives and our property are not ours but the govt yo better understand and read the bill. you think it is cuz we are mean racists who hate poor people. dude you better undersrtand we are trying to help you all. once you realize whatyou did.,.,.,you will be sorry and beging for it!. why do you think so many were against it? why do you think that now it has passed obama and the rest polls have still dropped?
@ jmz when you get to the eighth grade you'll learn all about 'socialism' and what it really means. then you can look back on this year and realize nothing that this government is doing represents socialism in the least. Socialized medicine requires that the government controls the hospitals, the doctors, the nurses...even the folks who clean the sheets. Socialism requires that the government control the production and distribution of the entire health care system. Now where in the Health Care Bill do you see the government controlling the payment of doctors or owning and running hospitals? You don't. So finish up the 7th grade and enjoy the summer. Next year you can write all about it. And stop listening to Glenn Beck...he's a moron who has no clue what he's talking about.
I used to like American Morning. You have become the junior mouthpiece for the Glenn Beck set. Why not have a chat with some of us...the 51% of the country that the government IS LISTENING TO! The Government is doing just what I voted for. they are taking on health Insurance overhaul, education, financial reform and maybe even immigration. My Government IS listening. They might not be listening to the Tea Party and that's why we have elections. They LOST. Have a backbone and challenge some of this rediculous rhetoric you report as a ground swell. You had a woman on this morning who said progressive is a code word for Marxism! (wonder which hour she heard that on FOX?) Excuse me? And you call yourselves "journalists"? I'm a progressive, I am quite familiar with Socialism, Marxism, Communism and Fascism and I aspire to achieve none of them. This whole thing is about race and it would do you well to challenge the right on that issue! The Government wasn't listening to ME when they passed a 1.3 TRILLION dollar tax break for the wealthy with reconciliation in the middle of the night and never paid for it! The Government wasn't listening to MW when they started TWO wars in West Asia without reason and NEVER paid for them. the Government IS listening to me now and if it raises my taxes so what? At least my taxes will be going to something useful this time around. Enough about Sarah palin...she has her platform on FOX.

Harry Reid just needs to go away. I believe that he has serious emotional instability. Perhaps that is the new criteria for political success??
The Republicans or far right has a convenient memory! They are and have been the party of Rich, White, Evangelical Christians who have consistently screwed over Middle Class America for the benefit of their cronies. Bush's 8 years saw illegal activities, hyper-partisan politics and massive debt. The rhetoric from the GOP makes the ignorant think they are angry because America is on the decline, however the American WASP is thriving while the masses are the forgotten.

According to Wikipedia, "Socialism refers to the various theories of economic organization which advocate either public or direct worker ownership and administration of the means of production and allocation of resources". You should be embarrased by your ignorance and should stop pretending you know what you are talking about. Second, if the American people decide that the Democrats' attempt to save lives by opening up health care to millions of more people, and vote them out of office, then we will get what we deserve: more of the same horrible policies that the Bush / Cheney regime foisted upon us, which let big banks and insurance companies run amok bringing us to the brink of depression, made us hated by the entire world, made us fight a war in Iraq based upon a lie, destroyed the environment, encouraged corruption in the White House, etc. etc. etc. So Mr. or Ms. Melon and Mr. or Ms. JMZ, be careful what you wish for because you just might get it! Message to Sarah Palin – hey, if you don't like big government and big government spending, why not call for cuttng the Department of Defense budget? Or better, close it completely and let the U.N. secure our country. While you're at it, why not close the CIA, the FBI, the DHS, and all those really expensive programs that cost so much? This is why I can't stand Saray Palin and her cronies – she's a hypocrite. She doesn't want to spend money to take care of American citizens but she never complains about spending money on guns and death.

There are around 535 members of congress that make up the legislative branch.What kind of public servants would they be if we chose another way of filling congress? Why don't we the people take their resumes from each state or district, narrow it down to the best qualified to do the job as people each and every day have to do to find work, then hire or fire them if need be. Too much waste and greed from political parties trying to obtain majority rule. Ween our congress from political parties, the corrupt dealings of big business and wall street hounding our congress with lobbyists, stop the enormous waste of campaigning. We the people could probably save enough money to have decent healthcare with public options and so much more. Don't like to hear people talk about the government being too big ... we are over 300 million people in our country, that's a pretty big AMERICAN FAMILY. The problem is waste and what funds are appropriated to. Enriching people's lives by helping them have better lives can only make our nation stronger.
Our constitution gives people the right to live their own life without being discriminated against...we should start living up to it. There is a separation from church and state and no one religious or political belief can stand in the way of that, and no branch of government can decide how or what a person should be, that is the INDIVIDUAL'S right to live their own life, their own way.For God's sake the kkk and white nazi supremist have the right to march through the streets of America with hatred in their hearts and minds. We the people should not discriminate against people willing to put their lives on the line for their country.
He is not in my state so his people will decide his fate. I would like to believe he would try to get senate Demo's to be more centralist. The urge to position themselves on the left, or far left, is going to cost seats in NOV and not sure that is a viable position for the good of the country. It may be ok in Calif. or NY, but the rest of us are not really that liberal. Why do they have to be so far left to be a good Democrat?
