    The Civil War and the Confederate rebellion is part of our American History. Slavery is part of our American History. To stick our heads into the sand and pretend otherwise, or to dismiss any discussion or educational understanding of the past because it may be politically insensitive to some is a type of rewriting of our own history. It is a kind of historical sanitizing, allowing for what we only want to hear and tolerate. People and nations make mistakes, and we can learn from those mistakes. All discussions regarding our American history should be re-examined in order to have a better understanding of the good and the bad of our collective experience as a nation. Slavery must be an integral part of that discussion; as should the political, social, cultural and military life of the antebellum South. When we fear history we are bound to repeat its mistakes.

    To jmz, Melon, and all you teabaggers against health care, helping children, and helping your fellow Americans, get out. Greed, greed, greed, is what its really about. When Rush Limbaugh leaves the country because of the passing of health care, please get on the same bus. Glad to see him and you, GO.

    We Shall Overcome...Despite the "BAD APPLES" in the barrel of America, it is so obvious that things are better. Despite the avalanche of unemployment destined to blanket our economy, despite the anti-government rallys, tea parties, hateful and threatening assaults, America is better off because we have a GREAT President that believes in the People, that has Faith we shall overcome, together. Americans can rise above the cancer of destruction and division, that infected the hope, struggle and pride of this Great Country. Yes We Can And Will...despite those WHO WON'T... the "Bad Apples" .

    Listen to the people...by the people, for the people...you know the rest. When Washington force feeds the people with stuff they don't want, eventually they speak up. Thank G-d, Americans are finally speaking up! Keep it up and speak your minds in November. Don't forget how our carpetbagger in the oval office is dismantling our rights one by one, converting privileges into rights, apologizing to the world for being the greatest nation on Earth, and leading us down the self destructive path of no return. And don't forget all his czars and cronies who support him in ramming these things down our throats.

    melon – what exactly is your problem – you don't want children with pre existing health care to be taken care of? you don't want yourself or your parents to have the donut hole closed for prescription drugs- you don't want medicare – explain your self – the only thing I can think of is that you are part of the republican tea party crowd who hates Obama and are basically unhappy with everything. there is no room for you in this country – we will go on without you!

    Health Care changes were needed. We can't wait forever, for the Republicans to come up with a idea, they are to busy getting paid by the pharmacy companies and health insurance companies to worry about us. (jmz) you should stop listening to Rush L., and start doing your own research into how the health care is messed up. I vote we split the country just like the days of old.

    A. Smith. The Bunker Buster is not a nuclear wepaon. Get your talking pints right before you speak. Nancy or Harry wil correct you. Any leader worth mentioning will tell you NEVER tell your enemy or possible enemy what you will NOT do. If you need to stike ,then strike, and leave no doubt. It's called carrying a big stick.

    jmz – Take a deep breath and try to get a grip on yourself. Start by going back to your single wide and open a dictionary (if you have one) and look up the word "socialism". Assuming you can grasp the definition you will see that nothing that has been proposed or passed by the President fits the description. Please spread the word to your fellow "teabaggers".
    I will offer a definition of "teabagger" for future editions of OED;
    "One who has been manipulated by wealthy conservatives to feel outrage about things that they haven't read or don't understand and to vote against their own self interests."

    You wingnut hysterical teabaggers are just plain nuts. What don't you like about: depending on your insurance company to be there when you're sick; not having your premiums go up 40 – 50% every year; not being denied for pre-existing conditions; not being denied because at some time in the past you were sick; holding the insurance companies to a minimum quality standard; covering 33 million more people who didn't have insurance; not having to have your doctor consult the insurance company before he can treat you? Where's the outrage about how things were? Where's the outrage against the insurance industry? The Big Pharma industry that hyper-over charges us? Health care reform is good for America. Tea Baggers are not!

    Dear JMZ. Please explain what you think the Tea Party stands for. Then kindly explain how the Tea Party intends on doing it. Then, if you would be so kind, reveal what the ramifications might be from these various actions.
    Every time I ask these questions to a member I get kind of vague answers. Looking for a little substance here.

    Year after Year former President Bush jr. repeatedly told the fearful American public that ALL options in dealing with Iran and other Middle Eastern country's was on the table, including the 'nuclear bomb' option.

    This fanning of the flames of fear was repeated so many times that currently serving US Military Generals finally spoke to the American public and stated America was not planning nor even actively considering using Nuclear bombs on Iran nor on other Middle Eastern country's.

    At the same time, the horrific Bush-Cheney administration repeatedly pushed US Congress to fund a massive Atomic Bomb upgrades including a new deep bunker busting nuclear weapon. Year after year, in what appears to be a blessing from 'God', that Presidential request was repeatedly denied and finally scuttled entirely.

    All of this past fear mongering was not lost on Democratic President Obama who does not want any future American President routinely banging the stick of using a Nuclear Bomb in some sick paradox of cowboy diplomacy while fanning the fears of the world leaders along with the fears of the American population.

    Democratic President Obama has successfully worked out a treaty with Russia to significantly roll back the total number of operational Nuclear Weapons on both sides and stop any development of new Nuclear Weapons period.

    Short of a Nuclear first strike or a huge biological weapon attack on the United States, President Obama has crafted the response against a rogue nation to NOT have the United States using nor responding with a Nuclear attack.

    This greatly tempers the approach which the US Military acts towards potential enemy's in the future and a very significant departure from the horrific and infamous Bush-Cheney administration's wave of fear approach which made many world leaders extremely unhappy and extremely nervous in what intentions America's leaders truly had in mind.
