President pushing for Wall Street reforms

(CNN) – President Obama heads to New York on Thursday for his push for financial reform. So far, Republicans appear united in their opposition to his plan. Democrats are working hard to win over one or two converts.

Austan Goolsbee, chief economist for the White House Economic Recovery Advisory Board, joined us on Tuesday's American Morning to discuss the bill and its prospects.

Because other nations manipulate their currency, because we are dependent on other nations for raw and manufactured materials, and because Al Quada and other terror groups have the goal of destroying the U.S economically; any financial reform should be linked to national security. Putting the nation in economic peril in this international climate should be classified as breaching national security.

The Reagan/Bush, GOP deregulation of Banking and Wall Street. Has given us interest rates 20%+, that in the 1960sand 1970s would have gotten you arrested for loan sharking. Deregulation striped robust AMERICAN companies of their assets, and left them Bankrupt. Deregulation allowed the export of AMERICAN capital and jobs. Do we really want the GOP involved in restructuring our economy?

After 40 years of Loot and Plunder GOP economics, yes we need to scrap the Bernie Madoff system. The Reagan/Bush deregulation of Banking and Wall Street would have been just a bad joke except it has bankrupted America and left us a third world country.

Wall street financials should not be allowed to sell derivatives at all. The real fix is to make the finacial banks private so the people making the decisions can be held finacially responcible like it use to be. If they could lose their homes and cars they would protect your money! If you look who is taking the money from the lobbyist look at the democrates. The lobbyist should beallowed to lobby just not to give money and gifts.

Reform as you put it comes many ways, if the person in charge steals the money, then the person who stole the money needs reformed, not the system!!! Do you realize how much reform we need!!! 700 billion and counting!!! USA is the way!!!
