Kagan to be Supreme Court nominee, source says

(CNN) – President Obama is on Monday expected to name Solicitor General Elena Kagan as his nominee to replace retiring Justice John Paul Stevens on the Supreme Court, two sources close to the process said.

The announcement at the White House is expected around mid-morning

Kagan, 50, a New York native, was widely reported to be the front-runner for the nomination. She was a finalist for the high court vacancy last year when Justice Sonia Sotomayor was selected to replace the retiring David Souter.

If confirmed, Kagan would be the third woman on the nine-justice bench and the fourth in the history of the court.

Kagan received her law degree from Harvard University, where she later served as dean of the law school. She previously served in the Clinton administration as associate White House counsel. Read more

Melon, you should take your own advice & "learn the truth." Half Mexico's population, about 60 million people, live in poverty. Twenty million of these live in extreme poverty.

The unemployment rate is lower than here for many reasons. One is that many Mexicans aren't in the labor market. The jobs avalable usually don't pay a liveable wage. Many see the drug cartels as their only hope of escaping poverty. Many see the wages in the US, even the ones that pay under what we call a liveable wage, as a way out of poverty.

Many people, myself included, disagree w/ AZ's new law because it infringes on the rights of American citizens. We see a problem w/ giving police the right to stop Americans based on reasonable suspicion. Police officers can't get search warrants based on reasonable suspicion. Probable cause, not reasonable suspicion, is & always should be the standard to interrogate, search and/or detain Americans.

5000 barrels a day= over 900,000 liters, over 250,000 gallons per day and how many days thus far and how many before this is resolved? What is the long range cost to the ecosystem and how long before fishermen can go back onto the waters to work their trade?

Will BP pay each fishermen for each years lost wages?

We might not run Obama in 2012! We might instead run Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur of Ohio's 9th Congressional district. I became aware of her only this past Friday while watching "Capitalism: A Love Story" when she went to the front of Congress and told the American people that were being foreclosed on to "stay in their homes".

That statement would bring tears to a hardened criminals eyes and have made Barbara Jordan and LBJ smile a smile as big as Texas.

Randall..the forming body of Humanity is made up of males and females all part to one operating body....so it does concern me..it should concern us alluntil it is resolvedto the satisfaction of all People. That which we work towards...

Government, Industry, Finance, Academic, Military, Media, Religion(spirituality+ethics0and the People. Its all game Randall and that which I am well versed in....

Regardless of how smart we become in life upon our passing we will still be far more ignorant than knowledgeable such is the vastness of knowledge out there. When we take our ignorance as a truth and not an insult, we, as a developing People, shall take an important step together. Keep your ego in check...I do...

Im surprised they dont have a cell phone blocker right now. It seems alot of IEDs are set off by cell phones. Or one better....something that makes all cell phones ring within 100m of the transmitter. That would set off any cell triggered IEDs before US forces encounter them. Plus they wouldnt have to shoot anyone on a cell phone as their convoys proceed on their patrols. Win Win.

That is an issue ...Tough hurdle to get over when your job is to rep those who you might not support personally. Even the bigger issue is that where judges actually have the power to create law. Because we all know that legal opinions usually reference prior decisions. The political arena is even worse ...i.e. zero tolerance.

GoldMan Sachs was gonads deep in the Greek crisis too. They set up the bad deals that hid all of Greece's debt so that Greece could join the EU. So..Goldman has screwed the US with bad mortgage investments and they screwed the EU by hiding Greece's massive debt. ( GS bought short positions on the deal they set up for Greece so they could profit off the collapse they KNEW was coming as well). Seems to me the Goldman Sachs executives are the terrorists. They have done more damage to the West than the terrorists ever could.

See, Joseph DanielBrian Lawlor. my point exactly. You are a male so it doesn't concern you unless you are ask to weigh in by the woman. Lawlor when they invent a game you can beat me at then I'll call you.

I well know that in reality there is probably no one in favor of stopping a childs life at any stage. And the circumstances hat may create a bad woman are male driven. So in being Pro Life then you enter yourself into the arguement. Try neutral and let the ladies at least suffer the failings of us males and the mess we have afflicted upon them. It is the B.S. of legislating morality.

I know where you are coming from but I'm striving to take the abortion issue off the table before any court.

Think of a terrorist as a virus in your body. Your not going to know its there untill you get sick. Same in your country...how can you find a terrorist before they act? Now...if we wrap our bodies in plastic wrap...dont touch other people, they might be infected....only breath air from a bottle and stay inside away from everything....THEN we might not get the virus. But what kind of life would that be? Keep stripping rights away from your citizens...thats the plastic wrap...Keep going now...dont stop...the virus might show up....where's my air bottle? We must ruin the country in order to save it?

Kagan will be a great choice for the Supreme Court but leave it to the media's news anchors like Kiran to sow seeds of negativity like for instance"she has no bench experience", does it matter? No it doesn't, but will plenty of people pick up this seed and run with it? Absolutely, that's what the media is paid to do, stir up contoversy, focus on anything negative for sensationalism. I don't know how these people can look in the mirror in the mornings, must be really disgusting to have no other goal in life than to hurt others under the guise of reporting news, how pathethic!

BP doesnt control the price of oil by themselves but if the price does increase over this spill and clean-up then stop driving. Walk more...it will make you healthier and that will save you money on your health care costs. Plus it will put money in your pocket because your not buying gas. Get a little motor scooter. They are cheap to run and get great mileage. There are alternatives to the status quo.

Anybody that believes the new law in Arizona concerning the invasion of illegal aliens should do some research into Mexico. Americans think that Mexico is a poor country. That is just not true. Actually Mexico is a rich country – they just choose not to care for their "poor" citizens and dump them off on the US, not to mention that it may be a Mexican Government policy to get the land they once owned back the same way that the US got Texas from Mexico (think about it).

The unemployment rate in Mexico is HALF what it is in the US. Ever wonder why? And is LOWER than 3/4 of the countries in the world.

The percentage of people in Mexico living BELOW the poverty line is LESS than the uk, Spain, France, Germany, Israel, Ireland, Canada – just to mention a few.

Don't believe me?.. Google and research. Learn the truth.

Joseph DanielBrian Lawlor, "bad women"? Please rethink that and let's stay off the abortion because I was probably the largest single male influence in getting the woman's right to choice as any other male on earth!

I parked myself at the Chicago law firm of Arvey, Hodes and Mantynband months before the Roe vs. Wade case was ruled upon. My high school girlfriend sprung her pregnancy on me and I asked her what she wanted to do and she said she wanted an abortion because she thought it might kill her Mother. So I went to guys I knew that were getting abortions in Dallas. I was caddying in the Byron Nelson golf tournament when a friend brought her to Dallas to have the abortion. I slept and held her during that Friday night and she was in a lot of pain. It dawned on e that if I needed to actually get her to nearby Baylor hospital she the peoples in that house might not let her out of that house alive. She went home the next day and I went to work back at the Byron Nelson.

That Saturday I pulled Walter Spradley away from his job as a Marshall. He was a Senior partner in Clint Murchison, Jr's law firm of Jenkens, Spradley and Gilchrist. Clint Murchison., Jr.'s that owned the Cowboy's dad started that firm with Holman Jenkens whan he hit all that oil. I told him we were going to legalize abortion and get it out of the "back alleys". I told him the rich had been having abortions for years with their "miscarriage's and trips to Europe. I told him to start telling the legal community becuse I had alreay told God. I later went to work for Jake Arvey in Chicago to see it through. Jake Arvey was the Russian Orthodox Jew and former Democratic Chairman of Illinois when it was the swing state for Truman to beat Dewey and yes Jake the Snake" fixed the boxes in Chicago and a few rural boxes out South like Carbondale so Truman could return to the White House. He wrote the Chicago Israel Bonds.

My advice to you is this Joseph DanielBrian Lawlor..if you don't want an abortion then don't you get one. Don't tell your neighbors what they are going to do.

As for as bad women? That is between them and God!

Chris..I am pro life as well but I will protect their"individual" right to abort as well. While the circumstancesof life are bad females will abort but once we deliver a good life for all the female brings forth life and do not abort and that is by individual choice all the way up to the entire body of female that makes up Humanity. While we are still in a state of bad getting worst expect abortions to continue.

Government, Industry, Finance, Academic, Military, Media, Religion(spirituality+ethics)and the People done wrong by the first seven one of the causes abortions occur to begin with.
