BP keeping cap on hours of oil leak video
(CNN) – A wind shift could push more oil from BP's Deepwater Horizon gusher into the Mississippi Delta and areas west of the river, which is "bad news for Louisiana," Gov. Bobby Jindal said Monday afternoon.
Louisiana has been mostly spared since the oil rig exploded April 20 and sank two days later about 50 miles (80 kilometers) off the southeast coast of Louisiana. The catastrophe is sending 210,000 gallons of crude into the Gulf of Mexico each day. Most of the slick has been centered in an area east of the environmentally sensitive delta.
Three weeks after the explosion, BP is releasing video of the first up close look at the underwater oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico. This morning, we'll take a look at why the company's been so good at controlling the flow of information, but not the oil. Read more
Teen's battle & recovery from drug addiction
The White House today is set to release a new strategy to battle America's drug problem, shifting the focus from law enforcement to prevention and treatment. But that can be tricky, because the problem isn't always illegal drugs.
Across the nation, more and more teens are using prescription pills and over-the-counter medicines to get high. In our ongoing series, "Addicted," we're following the story of one teen, named Melissa. She nearly lost her life, and everything she used to get high could be right inside your medicine cabinet. Our Kiran Chetry has the report this morning.

Pay in that industry is down 50% – due to the illegal aliens. Other industries are suffering the same fate. Those are SKILLED jobs. Not the farm or picking jobs that you refer to.
I wasn't referring to the "drug cartels" but that is one point. I was referring to ... say .. the street gangs in major American cities .. most, if not all are made up of illegal aliens.

BP seems to have put all their eggs in one basket called a blow out preventer. It seems they have a hole in their basket. How long has BP been in business? And they dont have a fix researched and ready BEFORE all hell breaks loose? Perfect example of why regulations are required before before the other shoe drops. Drive less, walk more...save the ocean. We have enough dead zones in the oceans right now. If the oceans die...we will surely follow it.

I'd like to know if there is anyhing about Robert Kenned, Jr.'s statement about the absece of an "acoustic regulator" and if the Obama bunch is aware that it is not required any longer in American waters and if his White House is rushing to reinstate these acoustic regulators to all future drilling of weklls in our homeland waters.

Prescription drugs are right at your fingertips on the internet. I spent $1000's on rx drugs to sustain my addictions. There is one moment that I believe I was between the here & now, & the everafter. I can describe what the struggle is when you have to choose life here, of to transfer your soul to the above & beyond. The typical wife, mother who could not be successful at being supermom, succumbed to the pressure, by abusing alcohol & prescription drugs. If I did not turn it around, I wouldn't be the only one that would suffer a loss. It lead to an incident of uncertainty of life & death.

I am one of those who abused prescription drugs, adding alcohol to the mix with mental illness, After several attempts to get the addictions under control, it took something extremely to turn me around & grab the rope when it was dropped in front of me to rescue me from the hole. After this serious, possibly deadly event, weeks in the hospital, I remain sober & free from rx abuse & alcohol since Jan 09.

It's great that Melissa has family support but, The fact that she has become addicted indicates that she continues to be at the mercy of a dysfunctional family system that is part of the problem. Dysfunctional families strive to maintain balance and as much as they say they will support her the underlying striving for balance will keep her in her role as an identified problem (addict). Where is her peer support? By peer I mean ongoing support from others that are trying to achieve the same goal of sobriety. Then there is the question of her medications. there are many prescriptions medications that are popular in treating anxiety in early recovery but counterproductive because of there addictive potential ie: ambien, paxal, zanax and others. The most important factors in this case are relapse prevention and her long term recovery.
To those who keep saying to bomb the leaking well: It's easier to plug a leak from a wellhead than an open crater! It would create a spill that would make the current one seem like a drip!
BP has been using skimmers, oil catching booms & even burning some of the oil. It may be 5-10 years befoe we realize the damage from the dispersants since the chemicals are listed a "propriety" & thus unknown. It;s quite possible these chemicals will be more destructive than the oil itself.
But alas our greatness must use this day to continue! There is Haiti and among the gloom and destruction in Iraq exists a child we must see through to his goal of becoming a Doctor to better aide Iraq's future! And what kind of a country would we be if the crops weren't tended to and grown to harvest because it is alomost assured that diasters will occur where American grain will be sent for others survival. And malaria won't lie down just because we have made alittle headway. Nursing students have to be educated and for sure there will be other nurses to retire need replacing.
America is a blessed nation and true to Anne Frank's diary basically people are good.
If there is a four letter word that exceeds the word love it would have to be hope for it is hope that makes tomorrow real therefore keeping all dreams alive. We can do our personal little good things today and always hope things will be better tomorrow and who knows, they just might be.
To those that think Mexico is a poor country. Mexico is not a poor country. It is quite a rich country. It is in the top 3/4 richest countries in the world.
The problem with Mexico is that it has only two classes of people – the rich and the poor. Mexico COULD take care of their poor but they CHOOSE not to. They CHOOSE to send their poor to the US so that the stupid Americans will spend their hard earned money caring for them.
I appreciate the level of coverage this oil spill has received. It is a disaster, but as CNN has had to point out in the past, I think the lives that were lost have been forgotten. I hear about the price of gas going up but not the loss of life? Can we say oil dependant???

dome is not necessary and wasting time – oil floats to surface and can be pumped into tankers/barges –
employ a flotation of existing tankers/barges starting at epicenter of shaft leak to recover (pump skim off surface oil)
possible "stop leak" would be explosion deep in old shaft

p.s. the use of dispersing chemicals make surface removal impossible and poisons the sea – really stupid....
it is not proposed to use "hair" skimmers, but hoses that submerge and as water/oil mix is pumped into tanker/barge it is replaced by same.
there are many tankers/barges currently in service to other gulf rigs.
as the tanker hold fills separated water from the bottom is pumped back.
there are single super-tankers that can hold the total spill.
Why are you following rush with the religion angle of the Supreme Court? Not news.
Ronny, aka Melon, your arguments supporting the new law in AZ might hold more water if you stated facts rather than hyperbole. The new law was amended after only a week but it failed to make the law any more Constitutional.
There are currently around 12 million illegal aliens in this country according to the best estimates. You state 11 million of these people have skilled jobs & countless millions have unskilled jobs. Your math is fuzzy at best. Most illegals work at jobs that are unbecoming to most Americans. They are usually paid under the table because co's/individuals want to skirt labor laws, the minimum wage & benefits like health care.
"Illegal alien gangs"? The drug cartels tend to stay on their side of the border to escape prosecution under US laws. They use "American street gangs" to distribute their drugs on this side of the border. They have even used/are using American street gangs on their side of the border for security & to carry out executions. American gangs & individuals have been making money on human & drug smuggling for many decades. It's also Americans who are supplying most of the weapons to the cartels.
If you, AZ & anyone else want to stop/slow down the illegal immigration problem in this country, you need to go after those who exploit these people to pad their pocketbooks. Of course this will cause other problems. If industries like farming can find Americans who will work for minimum wage picking lettuce & other produce in AZ & elsewhere, We may have to pay 10 bucks for a tomato. That's if you can find Americans willing to work at minimum wage w/ no benefits in 110 degree heat,

One does not have to wonder what type of damage and devastation would have been done by a more sophisticated car bomb if it had exploded. One only needs to see the pictures of the results of the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center parking garage, tearing through four levels of reinforced concrete. It does not take a great stretch of the imagination to imagine the carnage if that type of bomb exploded in a heavily populated region of the city. (submitted to correct a typo.)

Some of these Drugs going around today are just insane. In 2001, at the age of 21, I was working a lot and not doing anything that seemed exciting or fun with my life. So I started partying in downtown Toronto and got to a point where I was swallowing 14 to 20 ecstacy pills a night from Thursday to Sunday night. It bagan to ruin my life but I didn't know it yet. Long story short is I told my family I had a problem and I needed help. I have been clean for 3 years now but the last effects of that drug I fear will always be with me. Ecstacy does horrible things to your overall well being and I am not sure you ever get it back. Kids who do it now just don't realize that the nice temporary high is followed by a lifetime of pain
To those that think the new Arizona is an infringement on American citizens rights ...
You think it's an infringement on citizens rights to have the police check a person indentification when they stop someone but you don't think it's an infringement on citizens right when their country is being invaded or when citizens become victims of crimes at the hands of illegal alien gangs or when unemployed Americans can't find employment because more than 11 million skilled jobs plus countless millions of unskilled jobs are taken by illegal aliens (currently there is more than 15 million unemployed Americans in their own country) or when there is no social service money left for American citizens because it has been sucked up by illegal aliens by the billions or when public innner city schools are swamped by the children of illegal aliens or any other of the multitude of problems caused by the influx of illegal aliens.
Those types of people are anti-American and only seek to destroy America and should leave the US.
I think that the pipes that the oil companies lay should have a series of shut off valves along the lines, just like homes have shut off valves for things like your sinks. They should be reqired to have every shut off valves every so many feet apart. This may stop another crisis.
Anyone who knows anyone who is bi-polar, and just saw the segment you aired called "Addicted" thinks your are full of it. Severe substance abuse is the #1 prevalent symptom of bi-polar disorder. Bi-Polar patients simply must be watched at all times. They do not take their medication and will always find the alcohol in the house, this is TYPICAL. Evidence suggests that chronic "addiction" itself may not be typical of psychologically sound people who use drugs...for instance, alcohol. i.e. Is everyone who has a drink, someone with a problem? When bi-polar people use substances, ANY substances, tylenol, sugar pills, caffeine, etc etc, they abuse them to no end. Its a horrible mental disease that ruins lives and is responsible for most forms of irrational disturbed behavior patterns that are usually attributed solely the use of drugs. Without family support bi-polar people usually end up at the bottom of society as vagrants or worse, violently disturbed semi-functioning people.
Sorry guys, BP can be criticised for many things, but getting your knickers in a knot about not having enough underwater video is simply media self-indulgence. I can't imagine hours of murky pictures of cloudy water is going to add a jot to anyone's understanding of this event . It may be helpful to the experts and I'm sure those in government and the oil industry who really need it are getting it.Fotos del dias, it ain't!
