Duchess Fergie offers to 'open doors' to prince for cash

(CNN) – There are new developments out of London today where the latest scandal is rocking the royals. A British tabloid has put up a Web video showing Duchess Sarah Ferguson offering access to her ex-husband, Prince Andrew, in exchange for more than $700,000.

The prince denies knowing anything about it and the palace says he's always been a man of integrity. As for Fergie, she's falling on her sword and calls the video embarrassing and inexcusable. Our Phil Black joined us on Monday's American Morning to walk us through the sting operation.

There isn't anything going on here that hasn't happened before, many times. The only thing unique about this situation is that someone caught it on video.

After Fergi's divorce from the Prince, she is no longer a member of the royal family. Of course, she can still be a lobbyist for others, including the press to get access to her former husband, similar to the lobbying we do here in the USA to get access to top politicians, by paying a lot of money to talk to them or have dinner with them, sometimes, $100,000 per plate of roast chicken. She should not have apologized. It looked worse.

So what is difference between what she did, and what most of you here do every day? It is always just about money anymore. You all are no different than her. This does not surprise me at all. Most of you all are hypocrites yourselves, and also regularly pro$titute yourselves, just like she did.

There are children starving in the US. There are missing children, sexually exploited children, dying children and abused children in the US. CNN chooses to report about this BS instead of reporting NEWS.
I'm disgusted with CNN. Sensationalism. That's all we hear from CNN anymore. Get to the issues that affect the American People! Real News about Real people and Real issues that mean something to Real Americans! Until then, I'm done with CNN

The Queen's advisers should help find Fergie a debt management negotiator to help reduce her debts and set her up with a financial planner as soon as possible. In addition, Fergie needs to be forced to attend a six-month educational program on financial planning & family budgeting in exchange for the Queen's help. Her children should be allowed to continue to live with Prince Andrew. However, Fergie needs to get a 9-5 job and live in her own personal flat while working out our financial issues not to mention her psychological problems. I would hope that the Queen would increase the cost of living expenses for her grandchildren and pay their creditors directly so the money does not fall into Fergie's hands who has already proven to be totally irresponsible. She has shown a total lack of respect for Prince Andrew and the Queen not to mention herself. I hope she receives the professional help that she truly needs.

this is so hypocritical. YOU KNOW theyDO IT all the time. All The Time. Their other relatives, dukes or lords or duchesses probably take money all the time for access to those big shots. They Just Don't Like Fergie so they set her up. I have no doubt, the queen or her hubby or some other snot nose that doesn't like Fergie, tipped off the reporter and set her up to take the fall for something most of their clan does. This is so pathetic. Tough Toenails they don't like her, she married into their family , gave them 2 princesses and NOW they owe her respect and inclusion, decency and kindness. It is ALL their fault. don't let them off the hook. don't believe their tales of her downfall, they did it to her. they are bullies.

I once read that none of the Royals pay for anything, They go shopping and leave with the merchandise and are not billed. They always have their hands out for something free. They should share that practice with Sarah. They all live a life none of us can imagine.
I also think some of Prince Charles remarks to Camilla beats the heck out of this story.

This kind of thing happens in washington on a daily basis!
Hell all of them have $500-$1000 dinners, etc. What do you can that?

She is just a lobbist caught on tape.

Fergie as she is called, has made a lot of mistakes and so has everyone else in the world. She has proved she is a hard worker and pulled herself out of a real mess before and I am sure she will do it again. You have to remember the press gave her a hard time from the very beginning and they haven't stopped and probably never will. The royal family should have given her a home (for the daughters) and a lump sum regarding the divorce. People should leave her alone, and especially the press. Apparently the press doesn't have anything better to do.

Sarah was a "commoner" before marraige and never really "Royalty" ideas of greed which is prevelant among us "commoners" will always be in her mind even if she were a Duchess. 🙂
Leave the poor thing alone..she did what any common person in her position would be tempted to do. If she true had blue blood running in her veins, then she should be grilled as it's a conduct unbecoming of Royalty :-). I still wonder what the purpose Royalty serves in UK since they are nothing but showpiece.

They actually set her up? Why? this is just business. This is how we make contact and they get the news .. some one always gets paid? what is news about this?

Fergie seems to be a big negative. She must ask herself "is the world a better place with me or without me?" If 'without me' is the answer then she should change herself or eliminate herself.

I don't get what the fuss is about. The royal family are mostly figureheads, they don't have real governmental power. So she "opens doors" to her ex. Big deal. Andy can still decide for himself who he talks to or does business with.

It disturbs me. ' News of the World' chooses to release, only, those bits of tape they consider "relevant" to the event. Why so much time making oil deals Andrew? Sounds political to me. So much for building a green economy. I guess you can't teach an old royal family new tricks.

It is a shame the Queen would leave her own grandkids in financial diffi
Entrapment is as bad as taking a bribe.

She is NOW, sorry ?? Why ? Because she was exposed for what she is.....Most of the public always knew that 'Fergie' lacked character and integrity.

    Isn't this ironic?!!
The 'snobby queen" and family had a "royal fit" with Diana and her
"shenanigans" and now another EX daughter-in-law showing off her
"royal shenanigans" too!! How PROUD the Windsor's must be!! This
so-called family is one royal joke!

It was horrible to see Sarah Ferguson on that video tape making that deal, how awful. I have to believe her financial affairs must be so bad that she would do anything to get her hands on some money. I still don't believe that she's evil or a truly bad person I also believe she probably hated making that deal and knew to her core that it was lower than low. While she shouldn't be rewarded for her behavior couldn't the Windsor family spare a home for and her daughters all bills paid and line her up with a job and last but not least financial planning help and instruction on how to live within your means.

Another royal pain courtesy of Rupert Murdoch.

Why is the duchess always in such dire financial straits she has to hawk wares outside the UK, accept money to mingle with mideast gazillionaires and solicit more than half a mil for access to the court? The family could have escaped the sleaze by association and kept their wayward relation solvent. The quid pro quo that she stay out of the headlines would have been worth it. Of course, Andrew's ex would have to live on a budget and put the brakes on her free wheeling ways. The queen managed to rein in Edward and Sophie when their money making endeavors threatened the royal facade, but subduing Fergie is probably an exercise in futility.

This could be the end of the couple's extramarital marriage, but Randy Andy has forgiven her earlier jaw dropping escapades. The real villain is the Mudoch culture which encourages its minions to manipulate the most vulnerable family member to humiliate the Windsors. This story didn’t have to happen.

Poor Ferige. All that prestige, power, privilege and yet, she wastes it and makes another fool of herself. I guess they don't teach you in "royal school" common sense. Just one scandal after another. She'll never learn. She has only apologized because she got caught. Imagine what would happen if she hadn't got caught? Oh my, what greediness does to people.

Being a Ferguson myself I tend to understand her predicament, I think, better than most others. She's highly self reliant, been dumped on unnecessarily so by the royals, and now has been cornered and preyed upon by the ever sensational item seeking news mongers of the tabloid press. She's tough enough to work herself out of this nasty mess, that ever delights the crummy press people.

    1. Oil Spill: sounds now that the oil company is stalling for the hurricane season. When heavy winds carry oil inland, the governement will be responsible to cover costs of clean up.

    2. S. Korean sinking: Mike Stevens stated that N.Korea had torpedoed as soon as S.Korea reported the sinking. Why was there no coverage or info on how our government would react? What is N.Korea's allie (China) saying about the situation?

    3. Wolf Blitzer: Will Wolf be repremended for showing the hypocrocy of Mexico's position on illegal aliens..."it's ok to go to the USA but we (Mexico) will hunt them down coming in our southern border.." Good reporting Wolf (might need a resume sent to FOX NEWS).

Good for you Sarah! Although, I can't imagine what influence Prince I think it's fine that you should get paid for whatever access you're able to provide. In our country we call it lobbying.

If you're still cash strapped, come on back across the pond and I'm sure some slippery Hollywood guys will pay you big $$$ to do a reality show. Keep smiling!
