
(CNN) – A new initiative from CNN.com, "Home and Away," honors U.S. and coalition troops who have died in Iraq and Afghanistan by tracking the lives of these brave men and women up to their untimely deaths.
Today, we're remembering Cpl. Gregory Nolan Millard – one of three soldiers killed by a roadside bomb in Iraq in the spring of 2007. This is his story, told by his mother and brother.

Thank you to Gregory for protecting us all...thank you to the Millard Family for their strength and courage. No one should have to make the sacrifice that Gregory made, but it's because of his sacrifice and the sacrifices of so many others that we are able to be free. Never forget those who serve, those who fight, those who sacrifice and those who meet an untimely death. God bless Gregory and the Millard family.
