How serious was NY terrorist threat?

(CNN) – Today, two Americans will be in court to face terrorism charges after being arrested over the weekend at New York's JFK airport. Authorities had the two men under surveillance for years, and say they were headed for terror training in Somalia. CNN national security analyst Peter Bergen joined us on Monday's American Morning to discuss the seriousness of the threat.

@ Jon are you serious? People think terrorist and the first thing that comes to mind is some Arab Muslim. Those are not the only terrorists and it is something to worry about. That "least of our worries" attitude is what allowed 9/11 to happen. Trust me, 6 years so far in the military and I'll tell you it's a big problem. Wait until they hack into our computer networks and cripple us from within that way...than you will you be worried? Then you can worry about that and some guy at work...

We kill about 30,000 people (EVERY YEAR) in this country with guns.
Most of these are murders. Don't you think we are our own terrorists?
These numbers are irrefutable. That means that over the last 10 years, about 300,000 thousand Americans have been killed in gun deaths. This war against terrorism just makes money for people and companies. Not that it should be abandoned, but it does seem like one of the least of our worries. I sure don't lose any sleep over the thought that I am going to be killed by a terrorist – more likely by some guy at work.

Being a Canadian looking in, I think that the security teams in the US are doing a very commendable job. It is very evident that the hatred and wish to terrorize the citizens of the US is not diminishing.

I think it's time to make a big statement to these countries. A well placed, well time big bang with a very stern warning that enough is enough is long over due.

This is war, unlike any war mankind has ever seen. The US needs a president with balls.
