(CNN) – Along with the oil, a sense of helplessness is spreading across the Gulf of Mexico. Many people who have fished these waters – a trade passed down for generations, in some cases – are now worried it could be over for good. Our John Zarrella went out with some oystermen for what could be one of the final catches for a very long time.

Now is the time to look at re-education for the people who will be loosing their job..the cleanup wil take over 10 years and with their experiance they might be great people to hire. Also they can be trained to do other jobs and since this is what BP did add it to the bill they will be getting since they are responsible for destroying thier lives.
THey might not make the same amount of money but look at the country we are all learning to do other things to survive.
So lets retool re-educate and give BP the bill....now don't wait until and the companies that leave will not be needed in the future if we re-train these people. Also if the leak is worse than what we know hiring these people to cleanup what could be a larger problem will help all of us
Volunteers? Are you kidding?..Make BP Pay!
I've got an idea. Take advantage of the situation. Jobs have been created for years to come to clean-up this spill. Why not use BP to help bail out our struggling Economy/Jobs Market by ensuring BP hire Tens of Thousans of U.S. Citizens from all over the country for work to save our Gulf Coast from this horrendous "Crime Against Nature". Wait, instead of asking BP, Tell them......I could use the Job.......

Has there been any consideration given to relocating some of these fisherman that have a wealth of experience as well as boats and equipment?
Get rid of the Head of the Coast Guard also.
These would be the same oystermen who have voted for corporate control of our government, who belligerently dismissed all environmental concerns, and steadfastly resisted any sort of catch regulations?
These same oystermen?
A new profession would be wise the ocean will be dead for many many years .
Rather than throwing only dollars at people who's livelihoods have been obliterated, BP Inc. should be forced to offer shares of their stock, in an amount which would produce income or profits calculated to compensate 100% for the loss of their earnings. Additionally; BP Inc. and all businesses, producing ecologically destructive products, byproducts or waste, must be forced to continually invest in research and development (not under their control or oversight) of environmentally harmless alternative energy sources. Lastly; these business must be required to purchase annuities, which may only be converted for the purpose funding medical expenses for persons whose health; earning capacity; or property has been damaged/compromised as a result.
1) – Simplest Fix – Replace old flange and attached broken (now snipped) pipe at top of BOP – has " hex nuts" – with new flange and associated pipe to surface.
Unscrewing "hex nuts" and replacing with new outer flange should make non leaking connection to surface collection.
Once again do not use dispersants into leaking oil so can be collected by tankers at at surface – where are they ?
This could have been done after the smoke cleared (day 2) and this disaster avoided ...
p.s. It is unfathomable how this was not done.
1) Stop the Leak Now – 2) Start Collecting OIl Now – 3) Seal the Well Now

2) – Oil Containment Rings OCR’s – Need to be installed Now
This will stop further damage and start to remove prior oil pollution.
If we collect 99% of the oil being leaked – then bp can take time to kill the well.
– Start to build a “oil collection ring” flotation miles in diameter which has large booms (100′ by 6′ diameters)with deep aprons that zipper together as they extend deep(300′ or more) below the surface (this happens physically as aprons on modules are zipped) and capture the rising oil leak – which is continually pumped into tankers/barges – circumvent first ring with a second and so on as needed.
Do not use any dispersant – pump out water seperation from collected oil
3) – Seal Well Now – drill +1000' parallel proximity shaft – place proper amount of explosives – seal new shaft – detonate !
