Can James Cameron help solve oil spill disaster?
(CNN) – James Cameron is an Oscar-winning director, but he also has decades of real-life experience as a deep sea explorer. Cameron has gathered a team of experts and government officials to come up with a solution in the Gulf. He's offering up his ideas to BP and the government to end the oil spill disaster, but are they listening? Our Jason Carroll spoke with Cameron and has this report.

Why aren't we hearing from the BP Company Man the was on the rig? He knows what orders he gave to the rig crew to carry out. If Tony Haward can't give the ansewers, ask the man that knows everything.
You should first destroy the oilpipes on the ground of the sea and then cover them with a big strong bag, filled with concrete. That will stop the oil running out.

I agree with comments that involve balloones and cement; but it is best to build a two layer balloon with a sevrall oil exits at the top and then fill the space between the baloon layers with a special cement. This will graduly go down as extended pieces of pipes are added to the oil exits in the ballon untill it reaches to the bottom of the sea bed and then you have controlled the oil.
My associates and I have a plan for controlling the spill. Where do you recommend we submit our idea for feed back and certification?
if the BP pumper "Q4000" is pumping at 15,000 gallons a day, is it reasonable to believe that 100% percent of that is OIL, more like 50% oil and 50% WATER, so that makes the Q4000 pumping effectively at 7,500 gallons a day AND NOT 15,00 as they would have us believe, SET THE BP RECORD STRAIGHT.
BP could stop this immediately if they would remove the shear head and replace it with a flat pliers/vise grip. Clamp it down on the pipe and leave it clamped, done!
Stopping the oil is not what BP wants though they want to keep the oil/profits flowing. All US Govt. contracts with BP should be revoked immediately for their lies, and crimes which are far worse than what Acorn committed. Where is the Republican outrage in congress?

We cannot tolerate what they have done. We cannot just let them fix this leak and go on with business as usual.
BP murdered those men on that rig just as sure as if they had set a bomb at their feet!!! They murderd the very men that were trying to warn them and protect us from this mess!!! BP has destroyed a massive amount of sea life. BP has destroyed many Americans ablity to provide for their families by destroying the ocean that they rely on for their livelihood.
What has BP destroyed that has not been discocered yet? What lives 5,000 ft below sea level? Do we really know for sure what ecological result we will have because of this?
How can we let this company clean up this mess and continue to make billions of dollars off of the American people that they so carelessly and deliberately put at risk??? STOP BUYING BP !!!
BP acts irresponsibly. Instead of building a sarcophagus for the spill, they are vigorously searching for paths to preserve the drill and to recover the spill. They want to stay in business irrespective of the spill’s size, pressure, and consequences. No one can stop their thirst for profit. This arrogance is building the coffin for BP. Soon, very soon, the giant financial resources of BP will become insufficient to cover the size of the catastrophe. Who will pay for the balance?
I agree with Chuck. I thought this idea was the surest way to stop the leak from day one. Any homeowner may own a device like this to clean out drains. They work great with just city water pressure. once lodged in the pipe and expanded by ordinary city water pressure it is nearly impossible to pull it out of the drain pipe. Take this same concept, albeit much longer and larger and fill with high pressure concrete with a oneway check valve. Back the equipment used to put the balloon in place and fill the rest of the hole all the way to the top with concrete. The pressure from this oil geyser is estimated at 13,000 psi. assuming the diameter of the pipe is 8" there is nearly 6 square inches. That equates to 78,000 pounds of pressure. This 8" pipe filled with concrete that weighs about 80 pounds every three feet multiplied by 17,000 feet would apply a downward pressure of 453,333 pounds more than 35 times the amount of the oil pressure. What are they waiting for? They are drilling a new "relief well" now so why not stop this mess before it is to late.
i think i have come up with the solution to solving the oil gusher in the GULF OF MEXICO.email me for the solution.it is very simple as far as i am concerned,that is if anyone is willing to listen and apply it.
Comments that say BP doesn't want help are accurate, sadly the truth is our goverment doesn't want any help. Local leaders on the ground say "it seems no one is in control". Mother Earth is in control and she has reared here angry head. Some say decades will pass before this is over, but does that count the things we can't know or understand? Some effects will be passed on from generation to generation. Mr. Cameron go home, and remember that life is a vexation of the spirit. If CNN wasn't getting so much commercial time and money out of this it wouldn't be a story.
The attitudes towards the south in America are negative because we're slow, say ma'am when speaking to women, open doors for ladies, talk funny, and not the least fought against the north. Surely the neglegence of BP, and the belated response of Washington will pay southern Americans back for all of those things!
The sad thing is that this is a crime against all humanity, and the amount of oil that's been lost is nominal to the industry. This event, and let's call it TOO LATE, is an excellent example that important people (leaders) are truly just egotistical idiots. Let's just mention a few: Adolph Hitler, Napolean Bonapaurt, Osama Bin Laden, Nero. If this comment won't piss somebody off, than what will?
Sadly I have to agree with John. The money BP is putting out right now is nothing to them and what they are doing is a joke! If WE, our government, cannot take control of BP's $$$$ then you can expect that all those claims will be tied up in legal battles for years while BP will be hoping that you just go away or die! As to Karen's comment, also a good point. WHERE are all those "do gooder" groups that want us to send millions/billions to nations overseas, but seem to think those Americans in need are not worthy!
Listened to James Cameron and understand why we cannot "plug" it at the top. Don't understand why we can't use technology similar to that used in an angioplasty. If these guys (BP) can drill horizontally surely we can insert a balloon catheder 17000 feet down expand it then top fill with concrete.

No, they're not going to listen and the government is not going to make them listen because no one wants this well killed – they want to continue to keep it a viable source and the government, Obama included, has taken too many payoff dollars to keep intelligent people's solutions out of the picture. 'nuff said.
BP doen't want any help. Why? Beceause if there are independent people involved then BP might have to admit to the real numbers as to the spill. BP is allready moving its chess pieces to litigate these claims in court. I used to work offshore in the GOM and I know a decent well of this depth produces about 25,000 barrels a day. Because of the presuure it may be more not less. BP will have to pay over 4k for each barrel released. Do we really want to believe anything BP says or does right now?
Maybe George Clooney and all the other actors/musicians need to do a concert to help out. Where are the people that helped Haiti? Why aren't they telling this story? Why aren't we working to help those in need in America? I hope that maybe James C and his wife Mary can get out there and get the politicians, actors, and musicians to do something to help the Gulf.
Sure BP has Billions to help with but lets at least get people to show they care!!
