(CNN) – The Gulf oil spill just keeps getting bigger, threatening wildlife and the livelihoods of so many along the coast. Our John Roberts went out with a Louisiana parish official on a boat ride from Jean Lafitte to Grand Isle and got a close-up look at the oil and the damage done.

I keep hearing you describe the latest numbers on oil and gas and etc. coming from BP's pipe. since I see ships onloading something from this pipe and I see someone burning lots of the oil on the surface, why haven't I seen the story of the mathematics?
Estimated oil out of the pipe minus oil recovered and oil burned or syphoned up. If they are coming close to handling the oil coming out of the pipe, it won't seem so long till the new relief well is finished.
Someone at CNN must own a pencil and paper. Do the math.
Declare Marshal Law order some supertankers out there to suck up oil the wat they did off of Saudi Arabia, just like the former CEO of Shell Oil said happened
This is really sad. The people of the gulf need to do what they can on their own. Dont wait for BP, or the WHITEHOUSE. They are too slow. They do not care that your coastline, beaches, wildlife, are contaminated. It is only a matter of time before personal property becomes contaminated, and people will have to leave their communities. i have visions of BP offering victims of the gulf oil spill pennies on the dollar for their homes, and businesses because of the toxic volitile organic compounds.Just look at the EXXON VALDEZ disaster. The illnesses, and ailments that are sure too come will be talked about for the next 20 years.
Understand, when the WHITEHOUSE uses the phase "catastrophic event", be prepared for long suffering. this isnt going away for 20-30 years. Save your children, and relocate. History doesnt lie.
It is rather sad to see President Obama bashing, blaming and threatening BP from the Presidental Bully pulpit with various liability's, escrow account deposits etc. when a simple reading of existing federal Oil and Gas laws would inform President Obama how insulated and protected BP is from a huge range of liability's, civil suits, and heavy fines.
Republican lawmakers many of whom were attorneys crafted existing federal Gas and Oil laws over a period of many decades to largely protect Big Oil and Natural Gas drillers and providers.
Passing a retro-active law against Big Oil even thou the Republican lawmakers would lock-step vote against severe penalitys and liability statues from becoming law, would be deemed 'illegal' by federal courts and by the US Supreme Court.
A new strong liability increase law against future Oil spills might serve to constrain future Big Oil blunders, but not the current ongoing one.
What few American's realize and NONE of the News Media agency is telling the American People IS:
During the Horrific Bush-Cheney Republican led administration, BP was chosen to be THE provider of fuel to the US Military around the entire world. THAT IS LIKELY THE LARGEST ACCOUNT ever granted by a REPUBLICAN PRESIDENT.
President Obama can crassly threaten BP, but face the facts, America's lawmakers are not going to pull the plug on BP providing fuel to the US Military around the world.
If President Obama wants to punish BP and Big Oil then help ALL American's move away from Big Oil and more fully embrace Alternative Fuels and Alternative Energy.
President Obama should order all federal vehicle fleets to have a meaningful percentage of vehicles which are entirely alternative fuel powered, E-85 Ethanol, Compressed Natural Gas, Bio-Diesel and Pure Electrical vehicles. And after a year as those alternative fueled vehicles are sold at public auctions they'll end up in the general public which will demand a infra-structure to support them. Win-Win!!
Is it time or not and if so time for what or whom
That is the Question

Where are we in the timeline of Revelation? I don’t know exactly but I do believe that The Revelation of John is in an orderly sequence from seal to seal, trumpet to trumpet and bowl to bowl. Lets just take a look at just one aspect that we may not pay as much attention to and that is The Abyss or Bottomless Pit. What could be some possibilities 1. Recently if you notice God allowed a Volcano to erupt disrupting Jet flights to Europe ect. Darkening the Sky no visibility ect. And Scriptures say in more than one place and in those days the sun shall be darkened so that a third of the day was without light that my friends was just one volcano what might 2 or 3 or the entire ring of fire do if all those volcanoes were lit and we have no Idea about the types of living creatures within the earth that God has created just for such a time as the end. 2. What about the recent BP oil spill That is in the Gulf Ocean that may be a (the) Bottomless Pit or Abyss if you will and why do I say that one they can’t seem or don’t want to plug it up if it is bottomless and oil continues would not possibly a third of the Fish be killed and again we do not know what other types of living creatures exist what if something feeds on that oil but it could also be tanks, artillery even types of aircraft, ships that feed that could fit the description as well and they have a king over them in the Greek his name is Abadon and in the Hebrew his name is Apolloyn. What if we take the first name Abba done (Father Done) by this point our Father In Heaven will have had it and be done and what about Apolloyn did we not send men to the moon in Apollo rockets and just a few months ago struck the moon with a rocket to see it there was water (We Did) more to come for I don’t have time to write nor do I feel like writing any more ect.
Sincerely
Billy Frank Pitts, II
Why is there no one on the gulf trying Kevin Kostner's oil separating machine?? It's been proven to work and would be very useful in cleaning up the oil that has accumulated in the marshes.
I love the ocean and this insult to our waters is so painfull. How can
the polititians let this tragedy happen? The same people that we
elected to create laws to protect the ocean sold us. SHAME. We are
witnessing what corruption is all about. Even the people that pretend
that they are not involved cannot be indifferent now. Wake up and raise your voices now.
Comments that say BP doesn't want help are accurate, sadly the truth is our government doesn't want any help. Local leaders on the ground say "it seems no one is in control". Mother Earth is in control and she has reared her angry head. Some say decades will pass before this is over, but does that count the things we can't know or understand? Some effects will be passed on from generation to generation. Mr. Cameron go home, and remember that life is a vexation of the spirit. If CNN wasn't getting so much commercial time and money out of this it wouldn't be a story.
The attitudes towards the south in America are negative because we're slow, say ma'am when speaking to women, open doors for ladies, talk funny, and not the least fought against the north. Surely the negligence of BP, and the belated response of Washington will pay southern Americans back for all of those things!
The sad thing is that this is a crime against all humanity, and the amount of oil that's been lost is nominal to the industry. This event, and let's call it TOO LATE, is an excellent example that important people (leaders) are truly just egotistical idiots. Let's just mention a few: Adolph Hitler, Napoleon Bonaparte, Osama Bin Laden, Nero. If this comment won't piss somebody off, then what will?
I wanted to comment on the rescue of Abby Sunderland.
While we are all happy that she was safely rescued, it brings forward an issue that has been on my mind for some time.
As many people attempt these extraordinarily dangerous and risky verntures, (and I am not talking about sailing alone – this is also prevalent in many other areas such as mountain climbing, deep-sea diving, extreme sports etc.) and they encounter difficulties, it falls upon governments (funded by all taxpayers) to rescue these sometimes foolhardy adventurers.
While I am sure Abby is a great sailor, no one can have me believe that a 16-year old is an "experienced" sailor.
I believe that anyone who is attempting a feat that falls outside of normal parameters of risk and danger should be required to post a bond or an insurance policy (if such insurance is available) to help defray the costs of a possible rescue if required.
Automatically the insurance companies will ensure that exceptional risks are not taken and the taxpayers can join in the celebrations of all the rescues without having to foot the bill.
