The Teaser

"The Teaser” is a preview of the guests we have lined up for the next day – so you know when to tune in (and when to set your alarm!). Guests and times are always subject to change.

6:40AM Lt. Gen. Russel Honore (Ret.) said we need to declare World War III when it comes to response to the Gulf Oil Spill. We'll ask what his plan of attack is.

7:40AM Wayne Washington, Senior Writer, The State (Columbia, S.C.), on the attempt to contest the surprise win of political unknown Alvin Green in the South Carolina Democratic primary for U.S. Senate.

8:20AM Carol Loomis, Senior Editor-at-Large, Fortune, on how Warren Buffett and Bill and Melinda Gates organized a series of secret meetings of American billionaires, resulting in a small but growing group pledging to give 50% of their wealth to charity.

8:40AM Nicholas Carr, Author, "The Shallows: What the Internet Is Doing to Our Brains", on how constant use of the Internet and tech gadgets trains our brains to operate in a quick but superficial way, preventing us from doing deep thinking, heavy reading or in-depth learning.

I worked in Quality Assurance most of my career. What we are seeing in the Gulf, with Auto makers, & Wall St. Is typical of the aggressive managers we encountered in business.
They are only concerned with short term gain, rather than long term results. They cut corners to reduce cost & time spent on doing the job correctly. Their driving objective is for themselves to look good & move on. They leave the fallout to happen on their successors watch.
Their major objective is to manage the perception of their company for the benefit of shareholders. They are given these phenomenal salaries & huge stock options, to indemnify them from future lawsuits.

20B will only put a dent in what was and will continue to be lost. With BP's intentional neglect and disrespect for people, wildlife and natural eco-systems, the CEO's should be tried, found guilty of and forced into servitude to clean the mess they created, after BP spends every penny they have in containing the leak and fixing the damage they caused.

In addition, after seeing crushed pelican chicks and eggs (CNN News 6/15/2010) caused by incompetents who don't know the first thing about wildlife rescue, rehabilitation and care, Obama must stop BP from controlling wildlife rescue. Obama must assign this control and responsibility to the Humane Society of the United States. The HSUS can work in conjunction with the National Audubon Society and other birding and wildlife agencies. These incredible organizations have the people and volunteers who already know how to handle wildlife rescue, rehabilitation and relocation efforts and want to be involved. Of course, BP will pay for all of the efforts and supplies for these organizations.

The organization BP hired for wildlife rescue doesn’t know what it’s doing. Their people are not adequately trained in wildlife rescue and like BP, are doing more harm than good. This must be stopped
