This is a reallly really short version of the orginal video...it goes on for at least ten minutes before it gets to that point.

too many of you sympathizers probably arent aware of how women are tattooing themselves up and embracing vio;ence for the purpose of denouncing femininity. in an 18 yr marriage i only laid hands on my wife one time. she made the mistake of hitting me first and i taught her not to do that.

When that young lady shoved the officer, I would think the officer would warn her with mace or with a baton first, instead of just trying to slug her.

This really seems excessive. A very fast escalation by the officer.

The idiot who reasons that the women had criminal records, thus maybe deserves a knuckle sandwich, has decided that such people deserve to be beaten in public. sieg heil.

    This is not America.

The sex of the individual is irrelevant. The cop was alone surrounded by a group of hostile people. They resisted, engaged the cop, and he defended himself. I'm not a huge fan of cops but it is what it is. Mess with the bull, get the horns.

The cop was way out of line and should be fired. The cops today are more like jack booted thugs and are not interested in doing what is right and with some common sense.

The one girl was jaywalking and needed to stop when asked to stop by the police. Why was the other girl even involved? Why does she think it's ever okay to touch law enforcement in an agressive manner? The second she put her hands on him, she invited that result. There is no way anything bad should happen to that officer. But I bet Al Sharpton will be there marching and calling for his head.

Coppers are always beating up on people – in this case poor women. I am sick and tired of it. They need to get a REAL job.

I'm sorry but she got exactly what she deserved. This is an officer of the law, you broke the law and then you are going to physically attack him? Im sorry, she deserved it. Race has absolutely nothing to do with this. If you are going to get that physical with a man and act manly in that way then you deserve to get punched like one.

Most people would at least be charged with "child abuse" – a man assaulting a teenage girl – for interferring with a jaywalking offense! Why hasn' t the cop been charged? He's not paid to assault children for jaywalking.

In fact, all of you who justify the cops behavior are no different from those who supported Hitler; any excuse would do. Oh, she's a Jew – kill her – or she's not yet an adult, but she'll still fit in a noose; or, in this case, she's not old enough to drink or buy cigarettes, but she's old enough to be punched in the face by a man – in his official capacity as a cop – for resisting a jaywalking arrest.

    Wow!

Perhaps, when the rest of the world reads what so many Americans believe a democracy allows – cops beating young girls for crossing the street the wrong way – they'll know they are far better off to resist America's so-called democracy as, clearly, it's not much better than their own governments and would, simply, be trading one corrupt institution for another.

She got what she deserved. If you interfere with a police officer making an arrest, you get punched in the face. He should have shot her.

At least the cop didn't pull his pistol.
Knowing very little of what happened, it's clear he should have radioed immediately for backup, and escalated things more slowly.
He should have been able to defend himself and subdue a female perp without punching her in the face. In desperation, maybe in the ribs.
Too much caffeine in Seattle? Summons quota to fill?

Hey, our society for years have been showing us that women are tougher than men. Watch any movie or TV show, the women always beat up the men. It seems the brain washing is working and women are getting more physically aggressive. .
    .
But mostly this is a disrespect for the law combined with the "I am black and above your white laws". "If you don't let me have my way whitie then I will get the media and NAACP" on your ass". "Weze got the power."
    .
Ask yourself, if this was a couple of small white boys pushing the white cop would it be in the news?
    .
Equal treatment for one and all, right?

If I were the cop and all those people were around me once the second girl came in I would have pulled out the taser. Who knows how many others were just about to jump in. These gals need another ass whooping until they understand how to respect law enforcement. Three laws broken; jaywalking assulting an officer and resisting arrest. I think the officer was very tolerent to wait for the third law to be broken before he got physical. As for the racism thing don't be stupid people your smarter than that......I hope.

Thats the way these people are, no respect for anything. I read a comment this is what you get for generations of racism. What?
These girls are enjoying the good old US like everyone else. They will never evolve if they continue to justify their actions because of racism. Get off of that already and paddle your own canoe for once.
Young girl saying get the f**k off of me time and time again, they should be the new generation of normal citizens, I guess not. Maybe it'll take a few more generations before that happens. Six maybe, anybody reading this will ever see it.

The Officer did his job. Instead of listening to the Officer, they wanted to ignore him. He is an officer of the law and should be treated with respect. If it was a woman officer hitting her, defending herself, there would be no recoil. The girls should not have not caused a scene and the officer had every right to defend himself, especially when they were doing wrong.

She broke the law for jaywalking in a place in Seattle that has had many issues with this and I am sure it was causing traffic problems in the past or maybe even a pedestrian being hit by a car. So if it is against the law and she was suppose to be arrested she should have went quietly. J walking signs are posted in area where it is illegal. And since when do we decide that if it is a woman criminal she should be treated than a male? No matter what he did to subdue the woman I am sure he would of been persecuted by the same people saying he should not hit a woman. I am just glad no one got a hold of his gun.

And YES someone should of helped the officer out instead of yelling at him and instigating the two women to try to act tougher than they are.

Good job officer. Keep up the good work!!

Jaywalking?! Seriously. I don't blame them for responding the way they did after such a pithy infraction. They should be allowed to walk the streets to school without being molested by a bored cop.

He should be fired for not tasing them after they jumped him - fired for missing a hilarious video opportunity. Thump. Thump.

Watch very closely....watch now...watch as she stands there looking around and then sees the person video taping, she then makes the decision she wants to be in the video and proceeds to maul the officer. Now think of it this way, but for the fact this girl approached the offecier "threateningly" nothing woul dhave occurred. She only made her move when she realized she was being taped and did not want her "sista" to be the movie star.

She deserved what she got plus 10 years for calculated assault, and this was CALCULATED ...wath her make her move when she sees the camera and ONLY when she sees the camera!

So if a white cop assualts or arrests a black guy or girl its racism? Does that apply to a black cop assualting or arresting a white guy or girl? More then likely no. This is what this country has come to. People pull the race card out way to much.

Yes he was white and shes black...who cares...they broke the law...and by my count....way more then just once. 1. jaywalking 2. resisting arrest 3. assualting (doesnt matter how minor) an officer.

I was raised to never hit a girl, but if shes hitting me then I have the right to defend myself. When I was a child I was kicked in the privates by a girl and I back handed her.....her dad came to my house and he was pretty ticked....I explained it to him and to my parents and even he said I didnt do anything wrong. I was only a child....not a police officer defending himself while performing his duties.

I give kudos to this officer......He did what he thought was right at that moment.

Aquinas... you are right. They pushed the issue which is a result of a lack of discipline. The officer as well did not use a higher level professional discipline to address the offense. I guess the bottom line is discipline. Everyone should use it or risk having it used on you.

This happens when you single out an individual who is most likely following the flow of what everybody else is doing. The officer should approach the group and address the jaywalking offense to help the citizens become more aware. I have seen several people being detained put up resistence, but rarely do you see an officer of the court result to a blow to the face. Jaywalking is one of the most minor offense a citizen may commit. Its often overlooked by the police. A verbal warning address the group would have been more than suffice to address more awareness for their safety. But because he decided to single out one individual raise the presumption of being a bully cop. How often do you see people being stopped for Jaywalking? Are there any noticeable differences according to race? Are there any differences in the way the certain people are approached?
Each of us should think... In the real world... would we really approach every citizen with the same demeanor? I don't think so... some people you are comfortable with and some you are not. Therefore, its logical to think that its possible to sometimes react differently and even unfavorably. They are both wrong!!! Both requires discipline, the citizen for not respecting civil authority and then following up with a formal complaint if she felt unjustly singled-out. The officer should be reprimanded for not maintaining the peace by not being professional and for losing control.

She came from the side and swung first. From that point it was self defence. But why was the oficer so untrained as to not be able to take her to the ground and handcuff her fast? Like to look into this ones back ground. How many fights she been in? Before saying more.

I feel like the police officer was in the wrong. He should have shot both of them. Slow reaction time on his part could have ended in another police officer being killed. Jaywalking would not have normally ended in an arrest. Assualting a police officer on the other hand could and in this case should. Jaywalking can get you killed. The officer, first of all was doing his job. Second he was trying to protect a bunch of idiots from themselves. Third, it was pure selfdefence, plain and simple. He deserves a metal for not killing the foulmouth bitc*. Both of them.

The first girl physically resisted arrest, and the second physically interfered with the Officer making the arrest.

What are his options?: Gun: No, Baton: No, Taser: Maybe, but would be scrutinized worse than the punch, Mace: Same problem as the Taser – – Well, it looks like he's stuck using his hands, and the wrist locks weren't working. His final option was to strike her, or tackle her. Under the circumstances (facing two combative people and an unruly crowd) it would have been even more dangerous to tackle her to the ground. So, he was left with the last option: A single punch. Good for him. Well played sir!

And yes, I have a daughter, and if she interferes with an officer making an arrest, I expect she'd probably get punched in the face, so I raised her better than that. Maybe more people should try taking responsibility for their actions, and not just scrutinizing the penalties for their actions, and for once, maybe the media should report on some of the many good things the police and other public services do every day. Oh, wait, good news doesn't sell, bad news does. ...Nevermind.

Well, I think the cop was a little embarassed by the video. He took his best shot and could not deck a teenage girl.

This may be hard for some people to understand, but women are every bit as vicious in hand to hand fighting as men are. If the cop had not responded when and how he did , it would have progressed into to a 'deadly force' situation.

I have been to Seattle many times, and although being arrested for jaywalking seems stupid, there are many hills that cars come up over and a person who is jaywalking can be easily hit. I don't think the jaywalking warranted an arrest–just a ticket.
What DID warrant an arrest was this girl placing her hands on a cop. There are 2 unruly females in front of this cop. Placing your hands on a cop and interfering with their arrest of another person is NEVER going to turn out well for anyone.
Maybe the cop could have handled it a better way rather than punching her in the face–then again, my job doesn't have the potential to get me seriously hurt or killed, so what do I know?

Good to know the police are cracking down on jaywalking. For too long this terrible crime has gone unpunished.

Both of the girls were being violent. The cop did what he had to. They should have been acting like young ladies and not violent men. You want to act like a man you get treated like a man. They are lucky they didnt get it worse. AND making it a race issue is what keeps America in the state it is. This was an issue of 2 PEOPLE being violent against a cop it had nothing to do with race! Give me a break!

GREAT Liberal reporting here... the woman punched INTERFERED with the Officer attempting arrest on someone else. She needs to be charged with impeding an arrest, assault on an officer, and impersonating a human being. She got what she deserved at the bare minimum...

Not racism here. That excuse is getting old. Im white...im in the minority now...when can i start using that excuse?

    June 19, 2010 at 12:29 pm |
  36. Nick

Great work for the policeman. As you notice...this lady in the pink is being held back by another man before she goes after the cop. Then she goes all ghetto wild and the dude socks her in the nose. You will then see how the lady in the pink has decided its in her best interests to get the F out the way. When you are being resisted by multiple people its hard to taser them all. It wasnt like he was beating her up, it was a "touch me again and ill knock your ass out" kinda punch.

As for you Black people that agree with what the cop did, that's fine. But why do you have to start the sentence with " I'm Black and.......", or "I'm a minority and......". It's almost as if you're going to be trouble if white folks find out who you are! "It wasn't me boss, it was them other ones"! Slave.

What kind of man can see this as being the right thing to do? Oh I know, the kind of man that hits women (or in this case girls). What kind of women would think this is the right thing to do? Women that are used to being hit by men and taking the blame for whatever reason they've been hit. Pathetic people that hide behind a computer screen. Losers.

No matter what your opinions are in regards to ethnics or race, in any respects there is something called the escalation of force. She pushed him, so what, s a closed hand sucker punch the proper response. He should have taken a few steps back and deployed either his mace or even his baton. Now if she would have slapped or punched him then i fell that he would be justified in his response. What I clearly see here is a police officer overwhelmed by a situation that he unfortunately, escalated. Also It was very dangerous on his behalf to react that way in this situation due to the environment that he was in and the fact that he did not have back up. Sometimes common sense has to trump authority.

In closing, I do not believe that if this was a group of white teenagers he would have reacted in such a manner, however one can say that a group of white teenagers would have just stopped and submitted to the cops authority. I know as well as many of you that there is a serious problem in our black community with our black females being loud and overbearing. Force has to be matched with force, and what he did was escalate it to a higher level that could have been dangerous not only for him but for the residents of that particular city.
