The "children" involved are not ladies. They have no manners and have much learning to do about attempting to be a civilized members of society, Instead of jail, there should be facilities for them to be housed, and taught manners, etiquette, anger management and civil obediance. The policeman showed restraint until he was accosted my multiple little girls.

I agree with giving the officer a promotion. These two women are delinquents. The media tries to make this a racist incident every time a black person commits an offense. Thank god for our Police and Armed Forces.

police officers are trained nationally in standardized use of force techniques. the officer was justified under the use of force continuum my department ascribes to. the fact that the officer stopped the first female for jaywalking (a minor infraction) is irrelevant. it was a legal stop, and it likely would have ended with a warning if she had cooperated. the officer was then met with active resistance by both the initial female and another female. (passive resistance would be if, say, someone just goes limp on you when you are escorting them out of a business. active resistance is 'actively' fighting you, not simply attempting to get away from you). Soft empty hand techniques would not have worked (pressure points) to subdue the subjects based on their resistance and size/number of them. So he used the next amount of force, hard empty hand techniques. Totally justified. But I will ding him on this: It was justified and would have been more effective to use OC spray, taser, or a baton (iffy on the public image of a baton) to effect the arrests. It was a dangerous decision for him to prolong it by not ending it immediately, therefore drawing a neutral crowd at best. I'm glad he made it out of that safely. as for the females, i hope her face is okay, and that they both face prosecution.

I'm a man. I don't hit girls/women and teach my son not to. I respect women. The police officer was correct in his actions – the moment the girl laid her hands on the police officer, she assulted a police officer and was resisting arrest. If you think that a law is 'trivial', and you are being harrassed, you can difinitely have your day in court. What you CAN'T do is decide what laws you choose to obey. What you CAN'T do is get physically violent on a police officer and then expect to be treated with kid gloves because you're a women.

I definitely agree with "Gary in Houston". These "women" want to act like men and shove a cop...then prepare to be dealt with like a man and get popped in the mouth. I would never hit a woman in anger, but if she assaults me...i would lay her out like a throw rug.

Put your hands on a cop while they are making an arrest and this is what can happen, this is not a new thing. She is lucky he did not do more for interfering, right or wrong sign the ticket and go. Life will sure let you know your not all that.

Shame on any of you who approve of any of those three.
If you were the parent of one of those girls, you likely would be very upset with them, but you'd be furious with that officer.
(one can only hope your retaliation would be legal and not violent)
All three individuals made mistakes here.
Both of the young women were less than prudent on what should have been routine and an extremely minor fine at worst.
The police officer got flustered and resorted to violence rather quickly.
Neither of those two women were his match and he well knew it. Neither woman should have even been able to slow him down, let alone stop him from anything.
From his mishandling of the situation and telegraphed punch he was a dead man if anyone involved or nearby had a weapon and the will to use it. Thankfully, for all parties, at least this didn't escalate past hand-to-hand.
And no... being female isn't the issue here.
The issue here is a trained officer mishandling what should have a routine confrontation over a ridiculously minor infraction.
The police was the adult, the authority figure, AND the person with the most physical power involved and thus was responsible for the situation.
He allowed the situation to degrade when he had the power to simply move both women as needed and arrest both of them.
In both allowing the situation to degrade and in escalating the situation and becoming part of the problem he completely betrayed the trust society puts in such individuals.
The officer should have been the better man and just plain wasn't.

The officer should not have wrestled with them so long.
In our department, if the first attempt to physically restrain the suspect fails, pepper spray or a taser would have been deployed.
HOWEVER, when the other girl jumps in and assaults the police officer, they both would have been held at gun point till backup arrives.
People seem to forget that officer safety always comes before yours.

ok – so an arrest for jaywalking may be a little extreme, but when you assault a cop (first, might i add), you deserve a crack like that. i really hope she was arrested for that after, and locked up for a couple weeks.

The officer was at the intersection enforcing the jaywalking laws @ the request of the High School the group was leaving. This particular road is 6-8 lanes wide and has 2X the number of pedestrians hit compared to the HIGHWAY that is 2nd place. So it's a dangerous road with a pedestrian overpass built RIGHT where the were crossing. So to say this was BS to enforce the law by stopping them for jaywalking is just flat wrong. For the record I drive by this intersection frequently and see the same around most if not all the HS in the area.

the situation never needed to escalate to that point. the officer was there doing his duty as requested by the community. the two girls became antagonistic and disrespected the officer and the law. both resisted his authority and became aggressive so the officer did his job. if you don't want to be punched in the mouth, don't assault a police officer. the two girls are responsible fo the confrontation and should be held accountable. the officer was right. as far as punching a girl in the mouth is a lame excuse. she came at him and he defended himself.

i support the cop-it was one man, one punch, and a GOOD UPSTANDING citizen would have enough common sense and respect not to interfere while a police officer does his job.
My question is why didnt the jackass that was videoing stop to help the cop or call him some backup when he saw 2 women jump on him. I guess its okay for a lot of people to attack one cop as long as a lot of cops dont attack one person-that must be where the line is.
Let them get run over next time!!

I am totally on the side of the officer. From the article I read, he was already there giving someone else a ticket for jaywalking when the girls also jaywalked and he told them to step over to the side in order to speak with them. All they had to do was stand there and take the ticket. With any show of common sense, manners and compliance, they might have gotten a warning and the whole thing would have been over.
For those of you saying "it was just jaywalking", what is your excuse for other crimes? It was only stealing a car – it was only shoplifting a jacket – it was only speeding. There is no excuse – the law is the law.
He just happened to already be there. It's not like he chased them down several blocks to give them a ticket – they jaywalked right in front of him.
The woman was the aggressor. Ever hear of women and children doing suicide jobs in other countries? Just because you are a woman or an underaged person does not mean you are above the law or trustworthy. I don't think this was racially motivated. It was an officer trying to do his job and two combative women who thought their behavior would be tolerated.
To quote Will Smith in MIB, "don't start nothin, won't be nothin".

To cmatter down below:
I live in Seattle, and here's some background.
1. There was no "sweltering heat." Seattle broke a record last week by not even hitting 75 degrees this summer. It was a pleasant 60, at worst, that day.
2. A nearby school requested a cop patrol this street for jaywalkers because so many people had been disrupting traffic lately.
The cop was doing his job, and those girls were unruly and resisting arrest for no reason at all, in a situation where probably would have just gotten a warning–not even a ticket.
In the last several years there have been numerous cop killings in Seattle–a few have been killed by people who wrestle the cop's own gun out of its holster during a struggle exactly like this.
The cop was following his training. The girls were stupid. He has to keep that situation under control. If she wants to be treated like a lady, she should have acted like one–instead she acted like a criminal.
June 18, 2010 at 2:17 pm |

There are a lot of ways to deal with this situation, only one or two involve escalating the level of violence in any given situation. I agree the police need to be able to enforce the law, but priority should be safety, no body should get drilled by a cop for Jaywalking. This is a police mans JOB, he s getting paid, he should have the skills to de-escalate the situation. I'm sure it happens the right way quite often, it just isn't news when someone doesn't get drilled in the face for jaywalking
June 18, 2010 at 12:04 pm |
EVIL INC
The girls were breaking the law. Similer to speeding or double parking. It is a "ticket' offence only.
As you can see by the vidio, the officer did not need to resort to such an act of brutality though. He needed only to subdue. He, as you can see, decided to be judge, jury and executioner. A clear violation of what he was trained to do and her civil rights.
As officers of the law we are trained to use self control and only use the force needed to confront a situation. I am ashamed to see another police officer disgrace our image in such a way.

The officer is 100% justified, she was getting in the way of an arrest. You have to respect the law, if you commit a crime then you have to pay for it. I hope they arrested the one in the pink for assaulting an officer.

This is why this courtry is out of control. What Happend to "reply in kind".... "reasonable force" Was this cop just a wimp??? This country once was reasonable.... Now we are a country of absolutes.. black and white.... right or wrong. This is NOT what should be going on. I do think the girl was out of line ... HOWEVER the cop when WAY overboard... If that happened 25 years ago.... the cop would be drummed out of the [police force and be forced to move somewhere no body knew him.... Please America .. grow a brain!!!!!!!!

The cop, like most authority figures, needs to learn the value of discretion. A warning on the jay-walking would have been better served. He may have been technically right, but he still hit a girl full force in the face. I guarantee you any real man knows that restraining her may have been in need, but hitting a girl in the face...that's just low. She didn't even punch him first.
June 18, 2010 at 10:21 am |
Dave Felger
I support the cop. We don't have all the details but it appears that the girl he hit was interferring with an arrest and he used reasonable force to defend against it. He used his hands which is a lower level on the force continum instead of going higher up to an Asp or Tazer. From what I heard in the Media these girls (teenagers) already had criminal histories. To the individual above that made the comment about hitting girls. Girls have been known to kill and also belong to criminal street gangs. Also, it seems that thisis another example of race being used as an excuse for bad behavior. Remember the Black college professor in MA and how he and his reaction against a white cop was racial? Another point,it seems that when a situation like this comes up there are black talking heads on TV defending bad behavior on the part of Black's. See an issue here?

Wait... what's the issue here? The police officer was literally assaulted from two sides! ...and apparently alone while surrounded by a mocking, hostile crowd of her friends! I've got ONLY sympathy for the officer. Seriously, do any of you think that you can interfere with an office under such conditions without serious results? I'm a lily white male, and would not DREAM of laying an unwelcome finger on an officer at ANY time. Good gosh people... this officer was showing restraint!

I think that some females take advantage of the fact that males are usually shunned by society if they hit females. It doesn't make it right for these girls to be aggressive violent any more than if they were guys. You don't shove around a police officer for trying to give you a ticket. Also laws against jay walking were probably enacted because of self- centered idiots who decided to sue, because they refused to use common sense or teach it to their children. Probably people alot like these girls parents!

I'm a former African-American law enforcement officer(10yr) and the police officer
(in my opion) did the correct thing. The lady that got punched was not he lady getting arrested or question at the beginning and interfered with
the officer while dealing with someone else. She touched, hit pulled away from the officer FIRST. I would have done the same thing whatever it took to TAKE control of the situation. The ladies was upset understandable ,but you still have to respect the law and tell your side in court or hire a lawyer to defend YOUR rights.

She's lucky she wasn't in Fresno, CA. The cops would have shot her and arrested her for assault. If they didn't know about the video evidence they would have then lied about it, as Fresno cops always do.

Yes, they were resisting initially. But please notice prior to the cop hitting the woman. It appeared to me that (initially) all she did was push the cops hands away from the other girl. She did not hit him, or even swing at him. There was actually NO contact when the cop took the swing at the woman. The 1st girl had been released (as he was dealing with the 2d one). Did he need to use force, yes, but hitting the woman as he did was not necessary yet. Then after hitting the woman, both women then sarting fighting him. You'll also notice a bystander pulling the 2d woman back. After that, yes, the cop had every right to use force to restrain the woman as she continued to struggle. But again, watch closely. When he hit the woman, there was separation. I'm not defending the women, I just think that punch at that time was unecessary. I think that actually escalated the situation more. I also applaud the bystanders for not interferring. The cop was totally outnumbered. I'm also surprised as well.

I don't believe the cop should have punched her. A shove does not deserve a punch. Perhaps he should have just put her on the ground and arrested her.

Whether the girls were right or wrong, it's wrong to hit a women, much less a full closed fist punch. He could have broken her jaw, why because she pushed him? These were young girls, they may have some criminal violations, but does your past give the officers the right to punch because you stole a car, or robbed some little boy. Neither had committed murder. It doesn't look right and there is no justification. Why didn't he just push her back or spray her. He overreacted. Was his life threatened, absolutely NOT. He acted as though he were really fighting and in truth he had the one girl clearly in his grasp, she was not running, maybe twisting but she was not running. Additionally, all this over JAYWALKING. Race may not be an issue, but you question, would he punch a 17 year old white blond female? I doubt it...

The whole situation did get out of hand but that does not give the officer a right to punch a lady. His face looked pretty intense while he did hit her.
If the officer gets away with this, what will he do next time? Take out his gun.
This is not acceptable and he should not have punched a lady under any circumstances.

Yea I gotta side with the police officer on this one. I live in Seattle and there has been some questionable things that law enforcement has done or hasn't done. A lot of people are trying to paint this as another one but in all honesty, he did what he had to do to subdue the person resisting arrest and fighting back. If he would've continued to punch her over and over, I could see it as obviously being midled. I hope nothing bad happens to this guy. Good job officer!
June 17, 2010 at 3:14 pm |

It dosen't matter what gender is involved, when a person becomes physically aggressive towards a police officer, like the two women did, the officer has the right to protect himself. I think what most people forget is the side arm the police officer is wearing.
Do you think there would be any sympathizers towards the two women if one of them would have pulled his gun from his holster, shot and killed him? No!
June 17, 2010 at 3:13 pm |

first the officer should have never punched the young woman, and I am surprised ! it looked like he had no clue of what he was doing. he could not subdue one person. It should have never gotten this far for a simple jaywalking the situation was handled wrong and the officer needs to go back to the basics and learn how to handle himself accordingly.

I saw the extended version of this clip; and the officer, in his official capacity, was in no way over stepping his authority. If these women hadn't completely over reacted– swearing, screaming and hitting like tantruming brats– they probably would have walked away with a "warning." The woman who got punched got exactly what she asked for. She was unlawfully interfering in an arrest; and in the process, she assaulted an officer who (as anyone would) responded with appropriate force. Just because he's a cop does not mean he isn't allowed to protect himself.

In my opinion that girl should thank God she is still alive. She is so lucky the policeman did not shoot her. Kudos to him for showing such great restraint considering he was in alot of danger himself. He had two belligerent females resisting arrest and assaulting him. Unfortunately this was justified. Women need to stop thinking there is a separate set of laws for them because they are perceived to be physically weaker. Hood Rats (a subset of 'women') need to stop thinking there is a special set of laws for them because they are uneducated and uncouth. Would he have punched a white lady in the face? Who knows? But then again none of us saw a video of white ladies pushing and assaulting an officer.

Some people dont understand the job of Law enforcement and you who disagree with the way the police officer handle this you have to look at it 1. two ladies assaulting a police officer.2. in the video he is constantly saying stop resisting, stop resisting, they should be glad the he didnt bust her knee caps open with the baton or let her ride the lighting. Al sharpner is also trying to probably make this out of a racsis issue but its not its a simple case of two women resisting an arrest and assualting a cop and got bust in her face.

The police officer lost control of the situation. Would he want his
17 year old daughter slugged by any man like that? No! It was also
a riot provoking incident and an embarrassment to police officers
around the country and to the city of Seattle. When Christ Brown
punched his girlfriend, it was a national tragedy. What kind of
example was the police setting. That it is alright to punch a
woman in the face and in public when necessary.

They are lucky that is all he did. I have a serious problem with cops but in this incident, I think he did exactly what he should of. There actions came way too easy for them....

I don't see how punching this woman solves anything. it make the cheering rabble happy. Does she deserve it, probably. Does it make me cheer on some level, absolutely. But come on, it was Jay Walking.
Assaulting an officer is unpardonable. But the officers are not here to serve retribution, that is the judges role.
Self defense I don't think so. A knife, how about a bomb, Should he have shot her?
Face it, many Americans have a very mean and vindictive streak which they only satisfy vicariously.

Many cops need to learn that their badges are serious responsibilities, and that using them to power-trip on the citzens only lessens overall respect for the law.
Respect for the law and respect for an individual cop are not the same thing.
Why do we have this disrespect for the law?
What we call "the law" is a sorry joke, where jaywalking can get you years in jail and parking your car unwisely can result in municipalities stealing it from you "legally", BUT banks stealing tens of billions is perfectly legal.
The cops, God bless 'em, are the ones who make us all sit still and eat all the garbage the politicians dish out. The cops are the ones on the front lines, who see what really goes on in the real world, and what is working and what isn't. If they were real men, they would stand up en masse in the statehouses and help get the law squared away (some actually do, to their credit). But most of them just keep doing what they do, kicking butt on citizens who are harming no one, for meaningless offenses, eh?
I don't have any respect for them. In this country we have free speech, which means that short of yelling "fire" in a crowded theater, you can say anything you want, at any time. There's no law saying you have to show deference to cops...but anytime anybody does, THEY ESCALATE......and that's what we see here.
There's no doubt that the violence in this video was initiated by the cop.

Why was the reaction from these two "ladies" one of violence. The "lady" made a decision to attack the cop and she received the consequences of her decision. These two need some jail time and their parents need to be ashamed of of their child rearing.

she interfered with an officer of the law while he was doing his job. Get physical with an officer and this is what Should happen! He was clearly outnumbered. Regardless of gender, age, or race, they chose to put that officer in a bad situation where he was forced to get physical. That was their choice, deal with the consequences. If you disagree with an officer they should have been wise enough to fight it in court, not on the street. Medal for the cop, jailtime for the violent citizen.

People who act in an aggressive manner towards cops MUST be prepared for the officer to up the ante one level of aggressiveness. That's part of what the law allows them to do, in order to keep the peace. She resisted and the friend, not even the one who was ordered to stop, according to the reports, stepped in and got physical.

Sometimes police must resort to violence. It appears that in the case of these disrespectful teenaged jaywalkers the large white police officer had no recourse except to punch them in the face. No one should be allowed to exhibit such blatant disregard of the jaywalking laws. What if everyone disregarded the rule of law as they did?

She did not stop and resisted arrest and that was stupid of her.
The officer gets negative attention when all he was doing was his job.
This was a case of a really stupid young woman getting what she deserves,,,I'll by the cop a steak and beer. Sorry...this was not out of line at all. You don't hit Police Officers.

Uhmmm...Jaywalking? OK, tell me why this whole incident started over jaywalking? I think both were a little immature when it comes to this situation. Why was jaywalking suddenly the number one crime in the area? It's a little ridiculous, the policeman stopping them for jaywalking and the totally inappropriate reaction on the part of the women involved.
I'm not seeing a whole lot of common sense being put to use here, the whole incident is an embarrassment for both sides.
How do you escalate such a moronic situation to this point? Discretion is the basis for sound law enforcement, if you appear to be petty and overbearing you will not receive much respect, this does not excuse the actions of the women involved, they too should have taken a more responsible reaction in this case.
I have been stopped on a motorcycle for having the yearly validation sticker on the wrong corner of my license plate ( New England plate in a deep South state), although I found it petty my reaction was more of a humorous one when I asked if the officer was having a slow day. Although it was not appreciated, the humorous approach resulted in a much more positive outcome.

If the two girls would have just done what the officer asked them to do, none of this would have happened. But, these two had to start with their ghetto mouths. The officer was correct in what he did to protect himself. I hope these two things get what they deserve.

This wasn't a "Rodney King" incident. There were two fairly robust individuals directly confronting one lone cop, who was also surrounded by a group of onlookers whose loyalties (for the law or the perps) was unclear. If anything, the cop showed great restraint by not immediately going for his pistol.
But I think the cop did make bad decisions because he failed to control the situation before it turned into the scene caught on video. Punching someone in the face isn't going to make them cooperate – it's just going to make them angrier.
Obviously – the ladies in the video broke the law, first by jaywalking, and then by ignoring the lawful commands of an officer of the law. They should face criminal charges.
But the cop is supposed to be a pro, trained at controlling exactly these kinds of situations, and he clearly blew it here. At the least, the cop should be reprimanded for unprofessional conduct. Maybe even put on "desk duty" and given mandatory refresher training on this stuff.

dude, that lady definately deserved it. she should be glad he only punched her instead of clubbing, tazing or shooting her. i mean, get in a cops face and what do you expect to happen?i agree with bucky, give the cop a metal and the girl some time behind bars. i'm not even sure how this is news. woopty-do, a cop defended himself against an aggressive opponent who was resisting arrest.

Not only did he have two women to contend with (both his size or bigger) but there were spectators yelling stuff at him, also. He was in a potentially very dangerous position. She is lucky he didn't really get physical with her and go Chuck Norris on her. I teach my son to respect all not just girls. If a girl hits him, he has the right to defend himself. By the way, it is well known in counter terrorist and anti terrorist circles that women make the best terrorists.

After seeing so many police videos where a cop crossed the line, I find myself questioning what do we expect out of the police? I know I dont expect a cop to take that. I have no problem with what he did. You can't resist arrest without punishment. Even worse jumping in between a police officer and a suspect when your not involved. I think we need to be asking what is wrong with these girls more then what is wrong with the cop.

Good for the cop, why did he wait so long to punch her sorry ass.
this is the problem with youth today, because of the liberal A holes we can't punish children, it's not right, so now they have a mind set to do whatever they want without reprimand. thanjks to the liberal a holes.

the policeman was absolutely correct. those girls should have done what the officer said in the first place and never raised their hands to him in the second place. i hope he does not receive any disciplinary actions. that would only show the public that the city is not backing up their police force when they are doing their job.

Were these girls totally absent any respect for the law? Did nobody ever teach them that if you hit a cop you will get a beating and jail time? Racism? yes, generations of racism taught these girls to act this way.

At what point does physical contact with a cop cross the line in the opinion of these "young ladies"? OK, so now we understand pushing is a cop should be tolerated. How about an open handed slap to the officers cheek? Why not a knee to the groin?
It is safe to assume this girl won't be pushing cops anytime in the near future. It must have been a glancing blow, otherwise she would have been unconscious.

Yo, I'm minority... & she got what she deserved. What... did she think she was just going to just assault the officer, & go home!? Lol! She's lucky he didn't pull out a taser, or stun gun... & go to WORK on her... which is exactly what I would've done. As a police officer, I wouldn't put myself in a position to hope for the best. If you do nothing wrong in the first place, than there's absolutely NO reason to become beligerent. There was a state trooper killed just the other day (Forestville, MD), for simply escorting a unruly customer from an Applebees. The customer waited in parking lot, & smoked the trooper as he spoke on his cell... just for doing his JOB.

I am in favor of the policeman. Even though I see hitting someone as a last resort prior to shooting, the girl was actively assaulting the police officer and doing a pretty good job of it too. I saw a policeman in danger and the possibility of his gun being taken away. A police officer being assaulted like this has no other action to take to make sure he is safe and his gun is secure and the public is safe. How could he tell this rather talk 17 year old wasn't 18 or 19? There is a problem with this girl and her lack of respect for the police. She will only continue to act this way unless she is held responsible for her actions. Seattle cracks down on jaywalkers all the time....why did this girl resist?
June 16, 2010 at 1:37 pm |
Glenn
The police officer was assualted. He has to protect himself first and foremost. It is illegal to place your hands on a police officer in that fashion. That girl could've had a knife. Never assume anything, just because it is a woman. He did the right thing. It's not like he attacked her. It was purely in self-defense.
June 16, 2010 at 1:06 pm |

I do not believe that the officer is in the wrong here, any reasonable person would not struggle and assault an officer for trying to stop them from jaywalking these girls certainly are not above the law and the fact that they are black really has nothing to do with it the girls have no right to assault an officer nor does anyone else and if you do resist you should be prepared for the consequences of your actions.

The police officer was justified in his actions. He was being attacked by two women and they were resisting and obstructing a legal arrest. If the offenders do not like the police officer's actions, don't violate the law.

The officer missed an excellent chance to explain the jaywalking law and tell them it was for their own safety. She is a beautiful girl and would not look good if she got hit by a car. He needs to learn public relations go a long way in stopping more serious crime.

I definately think it was appropriate. Both girls were not obeying the law. Interfering with a police officer and assulting him as well. In his situation with that many bystanders I'm surprised he didn't have more attacks on him. But where was his back up?

He was absolutely correct. First, the two women have criminal records. Second, they were resisting arrest. Third, the one that got punched had gotten physical with the officer. I worked with a cop once that had punched out a woman. He said that if a woman wants to act like a man, he will treat her like a man.

I would never hit a woman in anger, but if she assaults me...i would lay her out like a throw rug.
the cop was in the right, the 2 ladies are not showing any manners, hey what the heck they the women were wrong to start with I hope they get a jail term for interferring with the cop
So you're gonna hang out in the middle of the road and dare people to make you get out of the way. I will run you over and be well within my rights to do so.
From what my Seattle friends tell me, the cop targetted BLACK JAYWALKERS yet allowed Caucasians to play frogger on the busy street. He must hate white people.
The girls left him with two options: either let them go, or use force.
This is the kind of thing that conservatives are causing in this country with their race-baiting. That dumb cop just did what his friends say in private that they'd like to do.
People who do not respect the law and the people charged with enforcing it have no place in society. They need to be warehoused until they mature. Most people mature by 60 or so.
I doubt it...
what a joke
this is why some people blast cops
he had no reason grabbing on women for a jaywalking infraction.
he wanted these women to walk up the block in sweltering heat and rough traffic
all these people thumbing up this man are cowards..
put your hands on my sister and i'll break his chin.. i wouldnt even mind getting stunned
No!
first the officer should have never punched the young woman, and I am surprised ! it looked like he had no clue of what he was doing. he could not subdue one person.
??? Too many people taking pictures – NOT enough people assisting the officer in need... This is what we've come to. What if she had gotten his pistol?? This could have turned deadly very quickly... OOh OOh get a picture so you can be on CNN!! They need to arrest ALL that were standing-by taking pictures.... The MEDIA needs to stop this IReporter stuff – before someone get seriously hurt.
yeah, she deserved that.
Kudos to the cop!!! He was being assualted by 2 criminals and he controlled the situation! Was anybody killed?? NO! And now there's 2 more criminals off the street!! I applaud this officer!!!
In my opinion that girl should thank God she is still alive. She is so lucky the policeman did not shoot her. Kudos to him for showing such great restraint considering he was in alot of danger himself. He had two belligerent females resisting arrest and assaulting him. He not only had to deal with them but a crowd was growing around him. We all know how dangerous and unpredictable a crowd of people can be. Good job to this officer.
I'm upset over all the bystanders taking movies and not offering a helping hand to the officer to restrain these out of control women.
The cop was the first person to resort to violence....on a teenage girl. Nice. What was the alleged crime? Jaywalking? The cop decided to trump that with assault. Too bad he punched a girl......a man would have broken his jaw.
The officer is just not a person, he represents "The Law". If you don't have laws that are obeyed, you have a horror show of a country. But enough about the drug gang infested parts of Mexico.
I doubt these two "girls" didn't know they shouldn't be assaulting a cop, they just thought they would get away with it like they do when they assault others.
OMG! Thank you for making my night! These girls should had been tasered at least 7 times. And, it's a crime when a cop tries to do his job and race comes to light. Get real and get over it. Oh, get ready for 15 min of shameless fame from Al Sharpton!
Being a cop is a very risky job. Woman or no woman the officer did what he suppose to have done. She resisted a simple arrest that would probably end up with a ticket and that would have been for her own benefit.
I can't begin to imagine what these officers are being taught at police academies. They prove time and time again that sometimes police use ego over judgement
There's no time for public relations when you're being assaulted by two different people. The officer acted appropriately in his response.
100% deserved. Go Police officer! About time we put some of the idiots in check. I wonder if they'll use the racial excuse on this...
assulting a police officer, 1 year automatic jail time in illinois-–young ladies need the time to think about it. no race card, get out of jail free!
So Sandy
In your opinion is assaulting a law enforcement officer a "serious" crime?
One day stupid people will learn not to screw with the Police.....I am sorry for the Officer and she got what she asked for...the Police have to deal with this every day and I think this woman deserves this and more!!!!
Hehe, this happened in Seattle, trust me, it wasn't racially motivated. Not even close. The hot sunny day probably confused the officer and suspect (we normally operate in pouring rain, and the sun is a scary thing), and the heat drove him and the suspect nuts. Haha racism.....in Seattle? no way....
What an ignorant female. It makes me mad that I have to share the streets with people like her.
When my wife attacked me in my house, I was forced to act the same way to retstrain her. When the cops arrived at my house my wife pointed the finger at me and I was arrested. There was no video so I had to take the blame and criminal record for the crime she committed. The laws are not fair.
I watched the video and it appears the girl in pink was trying to separate the gir in blue with the man in blue. I don't see any justification in what he did. What he should have done is call for backup if it was getting out of hand in his view.
I really feel the officer was in the right to protest himself. the chick in the pink assualted him and therefore the officer had the right to defend himself. Obviously these two teenagers were completly out of control and should have been arrested. No questions asked.
I'm from Seattle and this kind of stuff happens all the time. The cops beat up anyone who wont put up with their crap. That's why it's war up here now and cops are dropping like flies
she got what she deserves – knuckle sandwich -lol
At least he picked a fight with someone he could beat.
Racism? yes, generations of racism taught these girls to act this way.
sandy you are a twitt. the girls are in the wrong. he hit her once , not twice not three times. soon cops willnt be able to do their job.
Very bad, no excuse for the Man Officer!
Gooodie Goodie thats what the jay-walking hoo chee mamas get .learn the law and some manners
Rule 1. do what the cops tell you to do, if they are wrong deal with it later.
Rule 2. If you want to be treated like a lady then act like one.
oh yeah! Awsome!
I think it is great and the cop did the right thing. If I was in a similiar situation it would have been alot worse.
The police officer was assualted. He has to protect himself first and foremost. It is illegal to place your hands on a police officer in that fashion. That girl could've had a knife. Never assume anything, just because it is a woman. He did the right thing. It's not like he attacked her. It was purely in self-defense.
Quite simply, people need to learn respect....for the law.
Man or woman, doesn't matter.
The media is trying to make a racial thing out of it. Give me a break.
i was always taught, and i taught my sons, you don't hit girls.
Give the cop a medal & the girl 10 years,
