(CNN) – Lieutenant General Russel Honore, who led the military response to Hurricane Katrina, says we need to treat the Gulf oil spill like "World War III." He joined us on Thursday's American Morning to explain what he thinks needs to be done.
What good does it do to come up with any feasible ideas to help with the oil spill, when Admiral Allen and BP (joined at the hip) are shooting down every idea?? Are they going to implement Kevin Costner's machine??
Neither the Admiral or the BP CEO are getting dirty!!

He is on the mark. I was fortunate enough to listen to him speak at the Illinois Public Health Summit. WOW, this is the type of leadership we need.

BP CEO is under contract to BP. He is not permitted to say anything against his company or he will be sued and fired. It is only a show congress put on talking to him! But they did accomplish this one thing. It gave the BP CEO an opportunity to send us a chilling message. It is hidden in pages of words. He is warning us of our future. The oil flow
may not be able to be stopped. The fact that he actually admitted it despite his position with the company is so ominous.... I know now it is as I feared... the oil flow may not be able to be stopped. That is the terror that we must face, and realize and accept.... Only then will willl be able to mobilize our army and navy and marines and airforce. We will need all of them working together to save what we have left.
Thank you CNN for giving the general the floor.
I hope Obama is not so insulated by his political enterage that the general's message does not get through to him, because the oil that has desicrated our oceans and shores is as deadly as any foreign invader. It will take the navy and the marines and the airforce to save our shores, what is left of them. BP will not. BP will not. Bp will not. BP will not. BP will not. BP will not. They do not know how. They do not have the will. This is our home, we must do it.

Is it possible for CNN to send General Honore's plan to the White House, Joint Chiefs of Staff, and anyone else in Washington who might listen? No one, except the folks on the coast, "get it" that clean-up is urgent, vital, the most-pressing situation...we can't wait until the well is plugged to save the Gulf! Please, please, PLEASE, Somebody DO SOMETHING!!!!

Should have put him in charge from the start! I see a man that can take control, organize assets, WITHOUT the political hangups of others!

I agree! Terrorists could not have done a better job of polluting our waters! Lets get a million people on the job and nip it in the bud and stop just talking about it!
