Federal lawsuit over AZ immigration law 'exceptionally rare'

(CNN) – The Obama administration is turning its legal team on Arizona's controversial new immigration law. An official tells CNN the Justice Department is looking over the case right now. The announcement first came from Secretary of State Hillary Clinton while she was giving an interview in Ecuador. Arizona's Governor Jan Brewer wasn't too happy after she heard what Clinton had to say. Jonathan Turley, a professor at George Washington University's law school, says the Obama administration may be "biting off more than it can chew." He joined us on Monday's American Morning. I'm pleased that the Oregon State Attorney General and his capable team of Attorneys will be assisting the Federal Justice Dept. in this lawsuit against the racist, bigoted and illegal Apartheid Arizona State Immigration law.

I'll be just as pleased when Oregon submits it's backbreaking legal fee's to the State of Arizona to pay in its entirety after winning.

The Apartheid Racist Illegal Arizona State Immigration law is going to bankrupt Arizona, Arizona's business's and many of the citys that are cash strapped and teetering on bankruptcy themselves.

SB1070 codifies existing federal immigration law into state law. Arizona intends to enforce the federal laws that the Bush and Obama administrations have been utterly lax in enforcing. It prohibits the establishment of “sanctuary cities,” again supporting federal laws. Language prohibiting profiling is found in the following: “A law enforcement official … may not consider race, color or national origin in implementing the requirements of this section except to the extent permitted by the United States or Arizona Constitution.” The same or similar wording is found in three other sections of the legislation. The greater part of SB1070 deals with employers of illegal immigrants. The Arizona law does not give law enforcement (LE) extracontitutional authority. Due process was followed throughout the life of SB1070, from its inception in the state House to its signing into law by Governor Brewer.

It will be very difficult for this regime to overturn this law in the courts.

It's political suicide for Obama to attack the rights of a state. Does he really think he will gain in the popular vote when so many proud Amricans are against this estabkished immigration law? Send in the National Guard and your Federal lawyers costing millions and see how much more we can hate the current situation.

You've hit the nail right on the head with your post, Erik. Hopefully someone in Washington is working on it so it can be implemented.

Wow... we have the money and time to sue our own citizens, but not the money or time to deport law breakers?

What immigration laws need to crack down on is the people that hire illegal immigrants, cut the snakes head off. The only reason people come here is because there is plenty of capitalistic pigs that don't want to pay tax, insurance, and min. wage. We need to deport their employers.

If the Justice Department acts on this, then it shows me that they have been paid off. What can states do if they have a swarm of illegal immigrant's infest their state? 1) Continue to give them everything they ask for free, 2) Do nothing just hide your eyes and it will go away, 3) Enforce the already existant immigration laws of the country. I'd pic (3) the same as Arizona has chosen. C'mon and wake up to where this once great nation is heading......

Ahh.... Here was that transparency Obama promised. He will be transparent to the world – just not to America. I was such a fool to doubt. LOL

Wow – when I heard the video I saw how quickly the court can put this administration on its heels -> Why do you (the federal gov) think more enforcement of the federal law is a bad thing. There's no real answer to that.

We need to quit playing politics – we need the innovators and we need some unskilled labor but very little of it actually – more to the point we need to pay unskilled labor decent wages and the fed may have to do some more redistribution to bring the middle class back into the menial labor pool. In other words supplement wages.

A lot of employers say I can only get illegals to do the work. That's because the work is hard and you only want to pay minimal wage and keep the rest for yourself. So Joe hires Miguel who makes $6.45 an hour but Miguel has three children and gets the equivalent of $26 dollars an hour when you count food stamps, medicaid, and taniff (help with housing). Its cheaper to hire George the citzen for $18 an hour – Joe still pays 6.45 but since George is a citizen the rest of us contribute 12 and hour instead of 20. And George's kids speak English just like George.
