
(CNN) – Shrimpers, oystermen and businesspeople all across the Gulf have their lives on hold as they wait for checks from BP for claims they've already filed. The oil giant says it has issued more than 32,000 checks already. Last week, BP agreed to a $20 billion escrow fund to compensate spill victims. Ken Feinberg is the man overseeing that fund and he joined us on Monday's American Morning to talk about the complications of paying out claims. Watch ![]()

35,000 oil rigs in the, Gulf of Mexico, one of the world's most fertile fishing holes. Electing representatives to go to Washington who were for de-regulation of the energy industry. Did the fishing industry in the Gulf REALLY think everything was going to remain copascetic with this formula for disaster?
Let's take it a step further. There were five southern senators who had noooooo problem with GM and Chrysler going out of business. For some reason they felt it was in their best interests to let these companies, and their workers go into the abyss, even though they have 35,000 working oil rigs in the, Gulf.
I'm all for getting the Gulf of Mexico cleaned up, as quickly as possible. But I question the common sense of the voters in the Gulf region, and their entitlement issues.
