Tropical Storm Alex could miss massive oil spill
(CNN) – Tropical Storm Alex churned across the Gulf of Mexico early Monday on a path that could take it away from the massive oil spill.
Alex re-strengthened into a Tropical Storm on Sunday night, according to the National Weather Service.
It had temporarily weakened to a tropical depression as it passed over Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula. The storm, with its heavy rain and maximum sustained winds of 65 mph, is expected to steer clear of oil-affected areas.
"We think the storm is going to stay on a more southern track. That would be good news because it would avoid the area near the oil spill," said Todd Kimberlain of the National Hurricane Center.
However, forecasters have not ruled out an easterly shift in Alex's path.
"We all know the weather is unpredictable, and we could have a sudden last-minute change," said Coast Guard Adm. Thad Allen, the federal government's response manager. Read more

Got a possible fix for the oil leak. How do I get someone to listen? This fix is so simple they are overlooking the obvious. Tom
Just a question to the professionals: What happens when the oiled water is drawn up into the storm's electrical activity? Will this result in raining fire, aerial explosion, or perhaps nothing? Reminds me of the old Greek fire recipe.

Who will replace Senator Byrd and when? When will the seat be declared vacant? I read an interesting story overnight on Salon Dot Com before it was known about the Senator's death. WV Gov Joe Manchin may want to take the seat himself. No matter who gets it for now, the seat needs to be filled because it makes a difference for financial services reform as well as Eleana Kagan Supreme Court confirmation. I know that CNN will continue to cover this important story.

1.2 million unemployed people that lost their insurance become homeless.
I think it is interesting that Congress can pass a Bank Bail out, Health Care Reform bill, but can not help out the average American citizen with unemployment insurance,
I have not been sitting on the couch for the last year. I went back to school on the WIA program last summer to be come a paramedic now that in jeopardy because Congress did not pass the extension of unemployment. I have been put employment since June 15, 2010. I did get a part time job as a EMT-Basic it pays 5.00 hour unless we get a call then it goes to minimum wage. I just got that a week ago it took months just to find that job. They did get the tax break because I was out of work more than 60 days.
I am not a Union person no safety net. My thirteen son was here for the summer now he gets to see his Dad evicted from his apartment before he has to go back to his Mom were he does not want to go live.
The statement that Washington out of touch is under statement.

I know you our busy with two wars and a oil spill ect.. I just thought you should know that in the next two weeks 1.2 million people that can not pay there rent will be on the streets. I have been homeless before it takes a long time to get stable again.
Give a man a fish he eats for a day. Teach a man To fish he eats for a life time. I did that still will be homeless if the unemployment extension is not pass.

Republicans contend that Kagan should not be seated on the Supreme Court because she has never been a judge but it was ok for Republicans to seat Justices William Rehnquist and Hugo Black to the Supreme Court even though they had never been judges either. The only differences are that they are males and she is female and they were appointed by a Republican President and she was nominated by a Democratic President.
Am I missing something here or is this not a thing called "DOUBLE STANDARDS"?

People needs to remember Alex is not the only storm coming theres going to be plenty more right behind it growing more intence each time the president needs to make B.P. to work faster at getting an underwater containment tank in place before the next storm comes it seems as if the longer this goes on the slower they drag there feet .

When the Vietnamese moved in and took over the fishing industry in the Gulf of Mexico I helped a friend with his seafood business, Cypress Seafood out of Belle Chase, La., right up to when he couldn't compete with the lower prices Vietnamese could afford.
No one wants to see our seafood lose to anyone, just saying what goes around comes around; unfortunately the rules apply to all.

Yikes, in my last message, VOA should have been VOO, a shortcut for Vessels of Opportunity. I guess it's too early for my brain!
Why would working in the Vessels of Opportunity program prevent a fisherman/shrimper from being able to file a claim for business/personal loss? VOA is a way to earn some money and help make a difference in the Gulf. The claim process is for the damage to personal income and loss of business income. That prohibition against filing a claim for VOA participants seens VERY wrong!! Why does it work that way?

This Act is a joke. It does nothing to help the consumer. It just helps the rich stay rich and the common person still in the hole. As far as Fannie/Freddie goes – the HVCC is still in place, Andrew Cuomo's friends will continue to make the money. 2.8 billion in additional consumer costs since the HVCC inception. Who is helping the consumer? Not our representatives. How about interviewing the homeowner that couldn't sell becuase of the all of the messed up so called housing reform?
I am so sick of these people coming out of the woodwork looking for a handout from BP. Twenty years ago when my husband was "downsized" at 60 by the American company he had worked for for 20 yrs, there was no golden parachute and we ended up selling our home and moving to America to start over. I am sure millions of people who have seen their jobs shipped overseas have suffered in the same way.
Now at 80 and retired, my husband and I have over lost over half our investment with BP and more importantly our dividend for this year and perhaps years to come.
By running BP into the ground, you are also affecting the 35% of BP shareholders who live in this country and rely or will rely on them for their retirement. Who can we go to to be made whole? What did we do?
Obama wants to cut the deficit?... lol... Who is he trying to kid? The deficit has increased at least 3 fold just since he took office. All he wants to do is tax and spend. If he says anything else – just consider as more campaign spewing. When will the American public wake and see this fool for what he is?
