(CNN) – The fight over plans to build an Islamic center near the site of the World Trade Center continues to escalate. A new advertisement titled “The audacity of Jihad” aims to prevent the mosque from being built by using graphic footage of 9/11 and militant Muslims. CNN's Allan Chernoff talks to the man behind the controversial new ad. Watch
@ James. Read the post that Almondo has posted in response to your comment. What you, James, have done is summed up an entire group of people (approximately over 1 billion) based on what a small minority (so small that they would be considered a minority within a minority within a minority) of individuals were actually responsible for. You would think that after almost 10 years people would know better, yet many of us Americans continue to make the same mistakes without realizing how ignorant we really are.
The real question here is, if such a mosque gets attacked, will the perpetrators be called "terrorists," or "heroes?" Any sane human being knows the answer to this question; therefore, the question of whether such a center should exist is obvious.
building a Catholic church in America would be a slap in the face of all Americans ,no matter their race or creed , i find it offensive we even have to have this conversation, i have spent many years in white countries and it would be taken by the white people as a victory , they do not have the mind set to go , "look how much better they are than us they don't hate ,they built a church where we blew up hundreds of thousands of innocent people" they would see it as a weakness in the world , which opens the door to more issues.
building a mosque at the world trade center site would be a slap in the face of all americans ,no matter their race or creed , i find it offensive we even have to have this conversation, i have spent many years in islamic countries and it would be taken by the extreme islam as a victory , they do not have the mind set to go , "look how much better they are than us they don't hate ,they built a mosque where we blew up 3500 americans" they would see it as a weekness in america , which opens the door to more issues.
Sherrrif Arpiao is right. Just one little piece of information you might need is that it is hotter than that in Iraq. 130 degrees on the flight line at Al Asad this morning. Those prisoners in Maricopa Co. broke the law and are paying their dues. If you don't want to join the military and experience these great conditions then don't break the law in Maricopa Co. 😉
earlier i heard on the TV someone related this to The Alamo, and when you think of that you think of brave white Americans fighting off the Mexican army but what people overlook is the fact that there were Hispanics there who fought along side the Americans, just like how there were people of the Muslim faith who went down and died in the towers just like everyone else. We cant over pieces of History we dont want to hear anymore, the extremists looked over the peace Mohammad tried to bring to the world the same way people can look at the old Testimant and pull out how all people who dont follow you should be killed, instead of looking at the big picture that is trying to be conveyed, and if people keep thinking like this things are just going to get worse and worse.
This mosque will prove to the extremists that we can be better than them we will fight to protect ourselves but we will also listen to the talk of peace and forgiveness between men (and women) great minds like Gandhi, Bob Marley, MLK, etc. have tried to show us.
If we do not build this Mosque we will be repeating a cycle of racism and hatred that has plagued this world since man could pick up a stone and throw it at another of his own species. This will not be the end of this, but its a good thing to pile on against those who hate.
