If the Clinton's spend 1-5 million dollars, then some people are earning that much in salaries; hiring people, vendors are buying supplies and hotels are full. Money spent by one is money earned by another. Talk about a fun stimulus package! Shows that cutting taxes for the rich is not a positive step!
The Clintons paid $34 million in taxes in 2008 and donated close to $11 million to charity that year. I think they practice what they preach.
The Clintons do give a lot of money to charity and Chelsea herself has organized a fundraiser for Haiti. She is a great role model of how first daughters should be, and I wish her only the best. Let's give her some privacy and let the family enjoy the big day. As for how much the wedding may cost, I think it's great that people who have money are willing to spend now bc consumer spending is necessary to help the economy grow. They've worked hard for their money and deserve to be able to give the Chelsea the wedding of her dreams. I wish I could be a guest, but I guess my invite got lost in the mail!!
They deserve to splurge if they want to.

For those simple-minded people with their negative comments....since leaving the White House, President Clinton has been around the world raising funds for developing countries, especially in Africa with HIV-AIDS.
Don't wish divorce for them, karma is a b.... it may come back on you.

i can't believe anyone would call the Clintons "self-made millionaires". That's a laugh. However, Chelsea is a class act.
Hey D. And how do you know that they haven't donated to the Gulf, Haiti or people devistated by Katrina? I didn't hear you........just how do you know? Good people don't have to brag when they do good. And don't ask me how I know they are good. Some things are obvious. But some people are too blind to see it. I find it interesting that people are screaming about the cost of the wedding of a child of Democrat leaders when they shower the same type of affair of someone on the right with praise and well wishes. Who are the real hypocrites here, and can we actually get people to spell hypocrite correctly, please? This comment box has automatic spell check, so if you are going to politically rant at least spell basic words correctly.

So how does one pay for a multi-million dollar wedding? Do you write checks for everything or do you put it on a credit card? Is it all paid off by the time of the wedding or are you making payments for years? Personally, I'm dying to see her wedding dress.
I can't believe the cost of that. Her father is preaching to us to GIVE GIVE GIVE to Haiti and they are throwing this money away. Why not practice what they preach, have a small wedding and donate to the gulf, haiti, or hte Katrina people who are still livign in rumble.

I agree with ginny, it's none of our business. Chelsea has been through so much and done so well with her studies, and, no matter the side in which one falls on the political spectrum, we can agree she has grown into a fine adult. She and her groom deserve to have a lovely day that is as private as possible and a happy, healthy life together. May God Bless this couple-to-be and a big mazel tov on their upcoming nuptuals.
Estimated" by whom? According to what I heard this morning on the radio, this estimate came from a wedding planner that Chelsea Clinton didn't choose. Sour grapes? Anyway why is this our business? Let the woman have the wedding she wants. After all she had to endure as a young person living in the White House, everyone in the media needs to leave her and her familty alone. Get a life and get your nose out of hers.

Mrs. Clinton stated a few weeks ago and many time before that the rich aren't giving enough to the poor. So Ginny, shut up, with statement like that it is our business. $2 million on a wedding when there is so much poverty all around. this is all speculation, not based on any facts. "News"? I don't think so.
$2M easy. Weddings for normal people are ridiculously expensive – both to host and to attend. So famous, millionaire parents can easily spend $2M on a 400 person wedding over 2 or 3 days.
That's a bit extreme.
