BP test for 'static kill' in Gulf could take place Tuesday
(CNN) – A crucial test - meant to determine whether an effort to seal the ruptured BP oil well in the Gulf of Mexico could proceed - will likely take place Tuesday, according to the company.
The "injectivity" test was initially scheduled for Monday but was delayed because of a small leak, BP said.
Tuesday is also the day the company could also conduct the "static kill," one of two efforts planned to cap the leaking well once and for all.
"During final preparations to commence with the injectivity test, a small hydraulic leak was discovered in the capping stack hydraulic control system," BP said in a statement. The injectivity test will be rescheduled until the leak is repaired.
In the test, "base oil" will be pumped into the ruptured well bore to determine whether it will go back into the reservoir, said Kent Wells, BP's senior vice president. The test will start with pumping one barrel per minute, then two, then three. How much is pumped will depend on how the test goes, Wells said. He added the test is meant to help officials decide whether adjustments need to be made on "how and if" the static kill will proceed.
The static kill would involve pouring mud, possibly followed by cement, into the well from above. The goal is to push all the oil back into the reservoir, and seal the well. Read more

I have no clue if Dr. Saujay Gupta is a Democrat or Republican or other. (I like that). Conclusion: he should be drafted to run for President of the United States. I would feel safe such he be elected.
Yep, it sure IS going to get ugly this 2010 election. We haven't seen anything yet. Just wait. The GOP started it. And I wonder, who's going to finish it?
Stating facts about the GOP blocking recent bills that would have helped veterans, the unemployed & states is playing the blame game? I suppose you want me to be like the GOP & their supporters who blame President Obama for everything. The GOBP even blocked a recent jobs bill that would have among other things, provided tax cuts for small businesses. But they voted against repealing the $35 billion in tax breaks for the oil giants!
@Pauly, if you are refering to the GOP 'blocked' bill regarding corporate campaign contributions initiated by the conservative Supreme Court Justices, then my question is this. Is it a coincidence that the Mark Williams, Tea Party, Fox News, Sherrod came to overshadow this blocking? Or was it intentional? Personally, I think it was intentional, part of a larger plan. The media jumped all over the Sherrod case while the GOP blocked the bill. It was a diversion tactic. We all got snookered. That's my opinion, for what its worth.
The 14th Amendment is the solution to most immigration issues. If we can secure the border and wait for the parent to die, then sooner or later everyone is a citizen. If we disallow children to become citizens, then we always have illegals.

hi you should have ask the firefighter about the benefit they have, i'm a er nurse, and i hear them all the time talking about their benefitsss, they can retired at 55yo, well i'm gone have to work till 68, it's only one of their benefitsss......... cut these kind of benefit maybe they will be able to keep everybody working.
BTW: if Rangel and/or Waters are CONVICTED of the charges, they should be removed from office. However, Congress has a long history of protecting their own!!! Cunningham is till receiving his pension & he's sitting in prison!!! Same w/ Traficant who was recently released from prison!!!
In my little corner of the world, its ALL ABOUT TRUST. These days there are many people whom I do not trust at all; some people I trust somewhat; and others whom I trust most of the time. It is rare that I trust somebody absolutely. Dr. SANJAY GUPTA falls into the lattermost catagory of someone I TRUST ABSOLUTELY. I say this for many, many reasons to numerous to list and its not just about medicine. We should all follow his example.

It's funny how ethic charges against two Congresspeople fill the headlines but the criminal investigation into Sen Ensign doesn't get a mention. That's right, in case you didn't hear, a grand jury is hearing the Ensign matter!!!
His aides are required to testify & Sen Coburn turned over e-mails & other comminications that he said were priveleged. Priveleged because he consulted Ensign in his capacity as a physician. Funny, Coburn is a GYN-OB!!!

American politicians been justifying the terrorist state of Israel for almost 70 years with little to no thought about the human right violations being committed by Israel.
I also find it interesting .. that the US invades and destroys Iraq because Iraq is in violation of a UN Sercurity Council resolution but Israel is still in violation of 60+ UN Security Council resolutions and what does the US do about that? GIVES (donate – free of costs to the Israelis but not the American taxpayers) Israel 3 BILLION dollars worth of weapons a year – on top of what the US sells to Israel. That cost of what the US gives to Israel to every American taxpayer – almost 1600 dollars a year.
Congress needs to take away the tax exempt status that PAC's have. Of course they will never do this as they don't want to kill their golden goose. Last week, the GOP defeated a bill that would require these PAC's to disclose the names of their donors. Yesterday, Rep Bachmann announced she is starting a PAC!

CNN reported yesterday about the tax increases for ALL Americans if the Bush tax cuts aren't renewed. Is there any person reading this blog who's taxes HASN'T increased since Barry and his gang of cronies took office? Or for that matter .. their insurance rates?

I believe there is concern with the integrity of the well and its components; rock strata, well casing, old BOP, new BOP, etc. They still do not know with absolute certainty exactly what has been compromised as a result of the April 2010 collapse of the oil rig risers and the oil rig itself onto the sea floor. In other words there are too many unknowns. The overriding question has been, if left alone, will the well hold? The answer to this question is, it might hold, then again, it might not. Certainly nobody wants to see an uncontrolled gusher flowing into the Gulf. Regarding the static kill operation about to be attempted, it could work if they pump in the 'heavy mud' at some given volumetric rate AND at the same time allow oil to come out of the well at the exact SAME volumetric rate, thus keeping the well head pressure unchanged. I certainly hope that the oil released goes directly into a surface ship. That my opinion, for what its worth.

The tax cuts were a result of a GOP bill. They set the deadline for when they would expire. After Bush left office & after the '10 midterms! The Dems want to extend the tax cuts that actually benefitted the middle class. These are miniscule compared to the tax cuts the wealthy received. However, the GOP is going to block the extension for the middle class tax cuts unless the wealthy also get an extension.
I think everyone should share in the taxburden not just the rich.

I think we have people in Washington that are more focused on the economy then the average person. If they say borrowing works to keep us from loosing jobs today then let do that. If the government would have raise tax to pay for the wars there'd be less debt. Ideally they should cut spending but that hasn't work so far. I think for defense we need other countries to pony up, I like the Dem's plan on social security because its not risking money in the stock market.
Millions of Americans that make less the 250K a year will see their taxes skyrocket despite what Barry Obama has spewed during the campaign. Taxes will be increased on most every American except those that live in the 'hood.

Why does BP want to kill the well? They are going to get the oil, yes. Why not take the oil from the cap they have on the well?
By using a second well, they can get the oil faster!
If we owe so much money and we are borrowing more why are we still handing money out like candy in aid to other countries Should we not be taking care of what we owe 1st and take care of the good old USA after all if we make all that owed us from help we have gave over the years we most likely would be in a better place and it would take pressure off us the tax payers and then if it is still a problem raise taxes but frist stop all this aid to other countries til we get our house in order then and only then should we give aid to other places............. I mean a bank will not loan me money if i dont pay my past debt and you know if i make 250.000 i dont mind my taxes going up and as far as small business and med. size business before they have to pay more taxes they can hire or exspand the business but like i said aid to other countries should be taken right out of the budget until we have our deficit under control..........

Big Brother; I don't think anybody should be able to spy on us. There should be online police where their is danger. i.g. A single email are no more dangerous then a phone. With the number of contractors other government has to watch us I think they read every email. This is unAmerican.

The FDA declares Gulf seafood safe to eat. That's not very reassuring to me. It's this same agency that approves drugs that end up killing Americans. We usually only learn of the dangers years down the road when the damage has already been done. Last week, I saw a report that said there's no test available to check on the levels of many of the chemicals in the dispersants used in the Gulf. So how can they declare the seafood safe? I surely won't be relying on the "sniffers" to detect contamination!!!

I have a friend who is a deputy sheriff working at the county jail. I know about overcrowding.
If people don't want "overcrowding", then DON'T commit crimes.
Lohan got out of jail because of overcrowding. From the beginning they said she would not serve the whole time. Its like that everywhere, jails and prisons both are overcrowded and people get out early all of the time. Why dont you try and ask someone that works in the system to tell you why this happens, and actually make a point to understand the issues instead of just asking why for someone like Lohan. Child molesters, rapists, murders, drug dealers, all get out early these days and they know it thats why they reoffend, because they know its only a short stay.
As for BP, does any of their equipment work properly? Every thing we hear is about delays and things not working, they have all this money why cant they buy good equipment?
The state of Virginia has the right idea of checking immigrantion status of everyone they arrest. One way to combat the problem of illegal aliens... now if more states would do the same.
