Do we need more women in politics?

Women make up only 17% of Congress and just 24%of our state houses nationwide. Debbie Walsh, wants more women in politics. She is the director of the Center for American Women and Politics and spoke with CNN's Kiran Chetry about the "2012 project".

    Let's see now..

Women have added the option of gossip and innuendo to all of Cable news.

NOw that Congress is full of women our government has failed us year after year and the discussions on the house floor have become tainted with all kinds of gossip and nitpicking as we devolve.

Fewer children are born to actual PARENTS anymore..

WHy on EARTH is the sex of someone important to the job?

THere IS a point where this kind of targeted sexual.racial inclusion has to stop and let people decide based on the REAL MERIT of the candidates.

THis article asks a STUPID politically correct question.

    To answer the question....YES.

What is sorely lacking in the equation of governance is a balance between the left-brained logic of men, and the right-brained intuitive, nurturing nature of women. The answers we seek for the problems of today require balanced perspectives.

Men and authentic power have proven to be an oxymoron.

    Willowspring:
Your post is horse dung! There is absolutely no indication that women would have made wiser decisions than the men AND women currently in office!

Absolutely YES, women in general have a heart to do what is right for the people and what is right for the people is usually right for the country. If you are HONEST, HARDWORKING AND HAVE INTEGRITY, women can make a difference. The men have shown that they DO NOT HAVE ALL OF THESE QUALITIES COMBINED, it is either one or the other, very very very rarely is it all. Sorry guys, you have been doing your good ole boy stuff and guess what, you did not do your job. I believe women will watch out for their children and ensure that everything that can be done will be done to make it work for everyone. Women really are durable, flexible, strong and are not afraid to fight the good fight.

I want more women in politics also, but not if they're going to act like men.

I agree there needs to be more women in politics, but we need serious candidates; not Sharon Angle who refuses to answer tough questions or Sarah Palin who is more interested in celebrity than American Voters.

Yes, we do need more women in politics. The right-brained intuitive, nurturing nature of women is missing from the equation.

    To answer the question.... NO.

We don't need more women in politics just because they are women. We need more women in politics if they desire to do the job and are qualified for the position.

Only if they can get things done! We need, more than anything, honest, hardworking politicians who will listen to the people they are hired to represent...US citizens. If that is a woman, so be it. More than that we just need effective leaders.

Do we need more women in government? A resounding YES! The men have not only made a mess, they don't know the first thing about cleaning it up. And this bit of RE-electing an old dog, i.e., Jerry Brown in CA, Roy Barnes in GA. We need fresh UN-tainted blood in government. Vote for a Woman whenever possible.
