Islam is the problem
The Ground Zero Mosque and the Koran burning proposals have clarified the distress that the people have about Muslim terrorists in a way that our leaders have not been able or willing to do. Yes, we believe in the freedom to practice religion. And, yes, we believe in the separation of state and religion. The problem is that Muslims believe that their religion and Sharia law are the same. In other words, they combine religion and state. Muslims believe the Sharia law is god’s law and includes the governance of the Muslim’s practice of criminal, political and economic law. How can Muslims assimilate into the American and western world cultures when they do not want to assimilate?
We are suspicious of a religion when its people are terrorists, commit atrocities, threaten violence, and practice intolerance. We are distressed when there is so much evidence of a danger from Islam beliefs and actions and our leaders do not express or understand our concerns and only defend Islam.
The terrorists who destroyed the World Trade Center were Muslims and acted with the belief that they were serving their god. Muslims around the world rejoiced at the destruction of the World Trade Center because Muslims did it. The Imam, Feisal Abdul Rauf, who is proposing to build the Ground Zero Mosque said that he must do it or Muslims will protest by killing Americans around the world. He is threatening violence by Muslims if he does not get his way. I think that he and Muslims are building the Ground Zero Mosque to create a monument to their destructive victory over western civilization by destroying the World Trade Center.
The Pastor, Terry Jones who proposes to burn the Koran is making a statement. What is his statement? Our leaders and the news media have universally condemned his proposal, again sighting the threatening reactions by Muslims if the Koran is burned. But they have not tried to understand and express his message. Our leaders have not expressed the belief that Islam is related to terrorism and there are more than radical Muslims threatening America. For me, his statement is that we are not going to tolerate the threats or destructive actions of the Terrorists who are Muslims.
It is the Pastor’s right to express himself by burning the Koran. He should not have to worry about Muslims reacting violently. It is also the right of Muslims to hold peaceful rallies in protest to burning the Koran. But, Muslims don’t hold peaceful rallies. They threaten violence and we have seen they will act violently. They do not believe in freedom to practice religion. We have seen Muslims kill their own children for converting to Christianity.
It is time for our leaders to stand up and explain why Muslims are a threat and what we are doing to protect Americans from this threat. It is time for American Muslims to stand up and condemn the violence of terrorist Muslims and pledge allegiance to the United States laws and denounce Sharia law. There is a systemic problem with Islam. It can most succinctly we attributed to Sharia law and its conflict with America’s culture of freedom to practice religion and separation of religion and state.

John Roberts asked James Carville how someone like this pastor gain a world stage on which to voice his opinion. He lives in the United States. The power of free speech does not always lead to pleasant conversation, but without conversation, we might not know our true character until it is nearly impossible to counteract. No matter how loud or ugly a person speaks, rather than muzzel, we should excercise our right and make sure he is not the only one speaking.

It's people like this pastor that keep racism blooming in this country. Burning the quaran is going to produce more violence. This man and his cohorts need to be put in jail or if he wants to interfere with foreign policy tax his church. The catholics have interfered and they should be taxed.
Burning the quaran is wrong and people should really stop him.

The media is to blame as much as the rev. terry jones for this contravercy. I live and work in Gainesville, and until I seen the story on cnn had heard nothing of this. I am sure that giving credability to 1 extremist and his 50 followers is not the best way to go with this. If all the media would of ignored him, he may still have burned 200 books, but nobody would have heard or cared. As long as he has the proper permits he can burn whatever he wants as long as he owns them. Now all that is happening is this crackpot is getting the attention he craves.
