Can athletes risk speaking up about dangerous conditions or wrongdoing? There is no whistleblower protection in athletics. It is easier to remain silent about wrongdoing. It could be Olympic-suicide for an Olympic-hopeful to speak out.
If there were a kind of whistleblower protection, perhaps athletes could feel safe to stand a stand against over-dangerous competition conditions like this swim in Dubai and the luge in Vancouver.
