Classic Kelly... Calm, cool, and collected!!! But who is this clown they have interviewing him? He obviously knows nothing about surfing... Does CNN think that just because looks athletic and "ran track" that he would be able to relate to Slater? What a joke! Congratulations Kelly, but I'm bummed for the rest of the world that it wasn't until he won 10 world titles (most incredible athlete to walk the planet), that big media gives him some love!

Thank you CNN for giving a spotlight to surfing... It is sport that needs to be recognized. Like you, and many others it is unknown. It had once been classified in a negative view. You must now know it is a sport that has evolved to a more positive way of living... People that surf at any age keeps them young... And there are many that still still surf in their 60

Great interview by Jason! Respect! KS is a top man too, he's true to himself and speaks the same when interviewed by surfers.

Wylie, your comment lacks maturity. Surfing is simply not a mainstream sport and gets very little TV coverage, especially news coverage, therefore there are people who don't know who KS is. CNN rarely reports surfing, and websites such as the BBC (which I mainly follow) have commented on KS less than 6 times, most were related to sports photos (i.e. the Eddie at Waimea Bay) and 2 brief articles on Britain's best surfer Russel Winter and KS mulling over retirement back in 2006. If one doesn't read every article within the sports section every day and happens to live inland and doesn't surf chances that they'll know about KS is really slim.

Videos 4 and 7 are the same.

I do not believe this planet will EVER see an athlete the likes of Kelly Slater again! What Kelly has achieved in surfing surpasses ANYTHING/EVERYTHING any other athlete has ever achieved in any other sport,...in the history of the world! He is truly inspirational.

Surfing is not a main stream sport. Never has been, never will be. The main reason: NOT everyone has a warm ocean near where they live. IE:Very few people from Kansas surf. Therefore, surfing transends sport. It is a lifestyle. To do it, you must live it. And if you live it, you will always do it. Kelly lives it. As do all who saw the Endless Summer, and allways wanted to surf for a living, but remain happy working so we can surf.... Congradulations Kelly you have truly lived The Endless Summer.

Jesus, every time Jason Carroll said "why is it that nobody at CNN has ever heard of you" I found myself talking back into my computer "because you are idiots".

I dont play golf, basketball or hockey, but I am very aware of who Tiger Woods, Michael Jordan and Wayne Gretzky are…

not knowing Kelly Slater is just ignorance about the world around you……

Wow it takes 10 world titles for a surfer to get recognition. Probably because everyone in the know is so busy surfing. Great interview!
