Is it time to start profiling Muslims at airports?

In the wake of the latest Muslim terror plot in Portland, Oregon and the outcry over TSA screening procedures...is it time to start religious and racial profiling at our nation's airports?

One Muslim-American journalist believes it is. Asra Q. Nomani, contributor with TheDailyBeast.com and author of "Standing Alone," talks to American Morning's Kiran Chetry to explain why she argues that profiling isn't about identity politics but about threat assessment.

Of course we need to profile. Instead of complaining about the process, shouldn't we all be upset at those that are responsible for all of this hassle and all of the $$$$$ spent??

Remember...it was MUSLIMS who perfected at how to hijack planes...
It was MUSLIMS that first used bombs in their stored luggage (i.e., Loxerbie, Scottland)...

It was MUSLIMS who then first used planes as suicide weapons of mass destruction...

It was MUSLIMS who then first tried to use their shoes as bombs...

It was MUSLIMS who first then tried to use liquids as bombs (hence our new 3-1-1 rule for bottles and all liquids)...

It was MUSLIMS who first tried to use their underwear as a bomb…

It was MUSLIMS who first tried to send bombs via freight to explode over our skys...

And that is just the hassle freakin’ MUSLIMS are causing for air travel!! Go ahead and couple that with the 16,000 documented DEADLY attacks for their allah since 9/11/2001 alone, isn't any news organization interested in examining the true CAUSE and MOTIVE behind all of this mess and the $$BILLION$$ spent??? Anybody??

So...if you want to be mad at somebody, take it out on the religion of ISLAM which is the true cause for all of this hassle and $$$$$ we now have to spend to be RIGHT all of the time…while your Muslim jihadist only has to be right ONE time!!

It's unbelievable how many stupid and ignorant Americans there are claiming that Muslims are the terrorist. Wake up fools. The Muslims didn't just one day to decide to start attacking Americans. OH .. no ... we have came to this because the Americans have been targeting Muslims for the last 70 years – either on their own or by supporting the terrorist state of Israel.

It's like kicking a dog for years – then whining when that dog finally bites you. Who's really at fault? The DOG ... or the KICKER? American will always be targets (and rightfully so) until they address the root cause of the problem – which isn't Muslims finally striking back.

    Two quick questions?

1- If the assumed Male Muslim American, who is profiled gets pulled by TSA and TSA finds nothing against him. Is that enough for him to NOT get profiled again and be accepted and looked at like other Non-Profiled people?

2- And what if the assumed Male Muslim American, who is profiled by TSA has some issues from the eyes of TSA !!! Is TSA going to alert other local, state, federal agencies as well as employer and neighbors to keep eyes on this guy?

Where are we going with this profiling idea? That's what I want to know before getting naked in front of TSA.

Profiling anyone is the worst of unconstitutional idiocy advocated by ignorant bigots. What does a Muslim look like? They are members of every race and nationality. Why don't we profile those who look like Tim McVeigh instead? Stop the stupidity and bigotry. Get real.

Profiling can only be justified by arguing that sometimes it is reasonable to be racist. This is sometimes expressed by the phrase "reasonable racism" or efficient racism. This was of course, in substance the argument made by General De Witt in Korematsu.

The most obvious problem with this is whenever you use race as a proxy for something else- here "membership in a terrorist group" – you are likely tobe wrong more often than you are right. You also create waht is often called false negatives- the idea that if one is not aMuslim one is less dangerous. All terrortists will not wear a turban you see.

The best way to catch terrorists is to develop smart screening procedures, profiles to be sure but more sophisticated – where the person is traveling from or to, criminal history there are many relevant factors.

In other words profling on the basis of religion is not smart it is just dumb.

Muslims are the ones who are under the terrorism spotlight, and rightly so. It isn't Hindus, Sikhs, Christians or Jews who want to cowardly murder innocent people while we get on with our lives, it is MUSLIMS. If I was part of a group who was constantly killing people, and I wanted to prove my innocence, I would have NO problem with complying with any security procedures. Why do we see Muslim groups constantly whining about being searched etc?

FINALLY!! Someone with an ounce of common sense! Yes profile and quit worrying about being politically correct. Political correctness is BS!!! Start checking the people that are more likely to be up to no good.

Muslim's, while currently in the lead with terrorism, aren't the only terrorists. Profile for behavior not race and stop the TSA Freedom Fondling terrorists. It is more realistic that a person die in a car accident, cancer or even a lightening strike than by a terrorist yet we are all punished for the irrational fears pushed on us by the government and media.

Nothing wrong for profiling any nationality or faith. A bomber does not care if his kind is on the same plane with him.
On the other hand we should continue to check every one because you never know what nut [ like collage shooters or McVain type ] are intend on doing harm.
Same people that complain now, will be the first to raise cane because the rules got relaxed and some one blew up a plane.

Why would we want to profile a "peaceful" religion? The Muslims ALL say it is a peaceful, non-violent religion. They only want to carry out JIHAD. Nothing serious.
Of course they should be profiled. Until this violent religion ceases to carry out attacks against people who don't beleive in their "allah" (Christians and Jews), then they need to be watched closely.
