Here's what is NOT being asked and needs to be: Why was the shooter not treated for mental illness? This is an unaddressed and dangerous issue in our nation. In light of the Health Care overhaul we are undertaking this is a primary concern suddenly brought to the forefront by this violent assault. News organizations have the responsibility and opportunity to put this matter in the the minds of our citizens now. Please do so!

It is so tragic when we ALWAYS seem to learn about previous hints of issues such as this AFTER the event. Why don't we not only note such conditions but also reach out to the peson(s) or to someone who can / will help? Don't say it's not our responsibility; it is. And it certainly is true that many more can help early on or are forced to do so after.
