A standoff between NFL owners and NFL players is coming down to the wire. 12:00AM Friday morning marks the expiration of the players' collective bargaining agreement with owners but the players are threatening to decertify from the union if NFL owners don't grant them additional money they're asking for.
Owners could lockout the players from training or the 2011 season if an agreement isn't reached, but decertification of the union would allow the players to file an anti-trust suit against the owners.
Sports Attorney Richard Roth talks to Ali Velshi about the NFL standoff.
Wouldn't be something if the NFL players decided to get together and begin their own league. Before when the AFL started competing with the NFL, they had to find a compromise and merged.
The NFL is the best run business in the world. They are also one of the most forceful. The made moves against the AFL back when Trump owned a team to hold their monopoly. More recently, they told players that if they play with the UFL they will never be eligible to play with the NFL. As a patriotic American I would nothing more than to see them knocked down to size. At the same time, I think many players are over paid. It is not about paying more money; they need to re-allocate all the money they make from us, the fans….lets call it paying forward and move away from the greedy nature that infested Wall Street.
Seriously?! Are we really discussing this as a real issue? Let's shut these overgrown idiots up and have their salaries shifted over to the our kids future and pay our teachers more. Now there is something to discuss.
NFL Owners should pay the players more money. The more the players make, the more the owners make,it's a no brainer
We believe all NFL players should get a standard raise for EVERYONE, not just a raise for the STARS. We also hope that work continues on the development of NEW HELMETS and SHOULDER PADS. We love the game of football and want all players to be as safe as possible.
Oh, boo hoo. Cry me a river for these financially bloated, steroid bloated, overpaid egomaniacs. No one - NO ONE - deserves the kinds of salaries we see in professional sports.
